2008-03-04 15:44:00

With Windows Vista, Microsoft has introduced a new level of desktop experience by making the system more secure, reliable and easier to manage.Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features. Some of the most significant ones are the updated graphical user interface and visual style named Windows Aero, the improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking technology, as well as audio, print, and display sub-systems.This article puts the focus on the top ten reasons for upgrading...

How To Do Your Own Computer or Laptop Memory Upgrade
2008-02-29 15:38:00
Upgrading the memory in your computer or laptop is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways of improving your computer's performance. Still many computer owners shy away from any memory upgrade for a number of reasons: lack of knowledge, warranty issues, fear of ruining their computers, compatibility concerns, or just an innate feeling that the inside of their computer is just some alien territory they must never venture.Like a lot of things in life, a computer memory upgrade seems more complicated than it actually is. Most of the apprehension comes from a lack of knowledge. Let's face it, the average computer user may only have a vague idea about RAM, Motherboards, Graphics Cards and the like. They know their computer works when they turn it on and that's all that really matters to them. However, what most people don't realize is that with a little investment of time and a few dollars, they can make their computer work better and faster. It's an investment that will quic...

Each upgrade in hard drives leads to more and more new software programs with more and more files being stored. In all this time, I've never experienced a computer crash - until now. I took some additional precautions so I wouldn't lose any of my files.I made sure that I backed up the majority of my programs and my files. But, what happens if my hard drive crashes and after several hours of trying different things, I find there is no fix? Do I have back up ...

Is Your Computer Running Slow On Start Up? A Quick Tip To Speed It Up, Inst
2008-02-21 18:06:00
I got my Sony Vaio laptop VGN-SZ220 a year ago. It's a wonderful laptop. Sony is really "like no others". Okay, nothing is always smooth in life. This is especially true and it happens even much faster with computer machine. To make a long story short, my powerful laptop with 120GB hard drive is now filled up with half of the storage. Now every time I turn it on, it takes like 15 minutes just to load the window! "It's crazy", I thought.I'm a "creative-patience person" I guess ( smile ). I put it up for a month and went around with a lazy trick. It is to use Hibernate mode to put the computer to sleep instead of shutting it down completely. This trick worked really well as I didn't have to wait for the computer to load anymore.Again, thing is not staying smooth for long with computer thingy. Using Hibernate mode doesn't replace shutting down mode. I use a wireless internet access service and this device for some reasons it doesn't pick up signal when the computer is turned back...

How to Back-Up Your Computer Files
2008-02-18 00:19:00
Its amusing how pc users the world over are mortified of losing data by a virus attack but don't care much about backing up files. Though the intention is the same ? to save data, people are concerned more about virus attacks rather than having back up program.Saving files in a separate floppy, CD or even a different pc is known as back up of files. In the event of a data loss, it can be recovered if its saved elsewhere. What and how much to back up is completely an individual choice. Normally, data of importance like financial records, tax statements, personal files and anything that is important to a person should have a back up. The Back up worthiness of a file is the value of the file itself. Back up takes, so little time yet saves precious money, time and energy.A simple back up solution for your files is ? attach all your files to your email box. If your pc loses data due to whatever reason, you can still access all your files from any other pc that has an Internet connection...

Different Types of Computer Memory
2008-02-15 07:25:00
Computer memory refers to either of two types of computer storage. Volatile memory refers to RAM that needs to be constantly refreshed to be retained. Static memory is permanent storage that is retained even after the computer is turned off.RAM or Random Access Memory is volatile memory that is erased when the power goes off. Program instructions and data held in RAM can be accessed and saved much more quickly than that held in permanent storage. Therefore, files needed to run a program and data that is being processed are held in RAM while they are in use. The amount of RAM you need depends at least partly on the operating system( a program that directs all the basic functions of a computer such as accepting commands from a keyboard, displaying input on a monitor screen, and controlling disk drives and some other peripheral devices) you select as well as the type of programs you intend to run. When you boot up the computer, in other words turn it on, the operating system or part of ...

Is your hard drive acting up? Do you fear the loss of data, downtime, and possible loss of revenue this could bring? Let?s take a look at diagnosing hard drive problems, and what the symptoms are.The surest sign of a major problem is this: when you write data to the disk, and retrieve it later, errors pop up. If this happens in more than one program, disk failure looms in the very near future. Some users ?cure? this problem by reformatting the drive, then re-installing the OS and all programs. Unfortunately, this doesn?t correct the root cause of the trouble, and it will only be a matter of time before it pops up again, perhaps fatally.Strange noises, particularly high pitched squeaks, are often attributed to the hard drive. In the majority of cases, these squeaks aren?t coming from the drive, but from a case fan, or power supply fan.Listen closely with one of the side panels removed to zer...
