When a UAC (User Account Control) window pops-up in Vista , the screen becomes black - Microsoft calls this Secure Desk top . On one hand it ads another security layer by highlighting the window that demands advanced system access, on the other hand it can become very annoying and experienced users can clearly recognize which program called the UAC pop-up.Personally I prefer leaving UAC on as it really helps against many security concerns but I always turn-off the Secure Desktop to save some time and my nerves.
