DeKalb County judge sentenced rapper Da Brat to three years in prison Friday for striking a woman with a rum bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also sentenced the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service. The incident happened at a Halloween party at Studio 72 nightclub on Oct. 31 2007. The club is on Highway 29 near Tucker.About six members of Harris?s family wept when a sheriff?s deputy took her into custody.?I love y?all,? Harris, 34, said as she was led out of the courtroom.?We love you too? the relatives replied in unison.Harris entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault.The victim, a waitress at the club, had to be hospitalized after being struck by Harris, and Flake said the woman suffered permanent facial scarring.Harris and the victim had gotten into an altercation prior to the assault, police said at the time.SOURCE

Stephanie Tubbs Jones , an Ohio Democrat who was one of the few dissenting voices in Congress during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, died on Wednesday after a brain aneurysm, a hospital spokeswoman said. Tubbs Jones, who represented parts of Cleveland and its eastern suburbs, suffered the aneurysm while driving her car in suburban Cleveland Heights, her office said earlier in the day. She was 58. Tubbs Jones' condition declined throughout the day and she died at 6:12 p.m., Cleveland Clinic spokeswoman Eileen Sheil said in a statement. LisaRaye McCoy Misick remained in the hospital Thursday afternoon after Wednesday night's physical altercation with her husband, Turks and Caicos premier Michael Misick. The confrontation followed allegations from LisaRaye that Rocsi from BET's 106 & Park had been having an affair with Misick and was staying at the mansion last weekend while LisaRaye was in New York. As previously reported, Misick released a statement Tuesday announcing his separation from the TV star. According to Caribbean Net News, LisaRaye returned to the island earlier this week to work out a divorce settlement.
