2008-05-30 18:13:00 A multimillion-dollar Long Island home at the center of a dispute between Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent and his former girlfriend was destroyed by a suspicious fire early Friday. The blaze occurred just days after a heated confrontation inside the woman's attorney's office over the home. 50 Cent does not live in the home and apparently wasn't there at the time. Six people inside the Dix Hills home were taken to a hospital suffering smoke inhalation, including the former girlfriend and a boy fathered by the rapper. All six were treated and released. A firefighter also suffered a minor eye injury, officials said. Investigators from the Suffolk County arson squad were called to the scene after Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld deemed the blaze suspicious. The fire was reported about 5 a.m. and extinguished about 45 minutes later, Feld said. SEAN LEVERT DIES OF NATURAL CAUSES
2008-05-29 21:01:00 The R&B singer Sean Levert, who died at age 39 after falling ill in jail, suffered from a variety of ailments and died of natural causes, the county coroner ruled Thursday. The 39-year-old Levert, a member of the 1980s R&B trio LeVert and son of lead O'Jays singer Eddie Levert, died March 31 at a hospital after he was taken from the Cuyahoga County jail. He was serving a 22-month sentence for failure to pay child support. Levert's family had questioned officials' account that Levert had been acting strangely and was restrained before he fell ill. But in his ruling, County Coroner Frank Miller ruled out foul play or trauma. Patti Webster, Levert's publicist, did not return a call seeking comment on the coroner's findings. Miller said Levert died from complications of sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in body's organs. A spokeswoman for Harrah's Entertainment says the target date to resume "Toni Braxton: Revealed" at the Flamingo Las Vegas hotel is now June 6th. Braxton's show has been dark since the singer was hospitalized overnight for chest pain on April 7th. The spokeswoman says she can't comment about Braxton's medical condition. The 40-year-old entertainer has been treated in the past for pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart. Brown and neighbor Arlene Raymond got into a fight last July over Brown blasting her car stereo outside their Brooklyn apartment building. As part of the plea deal, the 28-year-old rapper wrote a letter apologizing to Raymond. Brown presented the letter to Justice John Walsh in a Brooklyn court on Thursday. The judge extended Raymond's order of protection. Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, spent seven months in jail for a Manhattan case involving a fight she had with manicurists in a nail salon. Nick Bollea was led off to begin his sentence immediately after Friday's ruling. He will be on five years' probation and lose his driving privileges for three years. Authorities say Bollea was racing a friend in his father's sports car when he clipped a curb, spun out of control and slammed into a palm tree in downtown Clearwater, Florida, last August. The rapper/actor was taken into custody Tuesday at his north Phoenix home without incident, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said Wednesday. He posted bond and was released. DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was booked on charges of criminal speeding, public endangerment, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. Electronically activated cameras placed along the Loop 101 freeway in Scottsdale captured him three times on Jan. 21 in his Nova II with a large "DMX" decal on the windshield. He was driving at 100, 101 and 114 mph. The speed limit on the stretch of roadway is 65 mph. The 37-year-old's lawyer, Murray Richman, said he had no comment.SOURCE
