Parent Outraged by Manga in Children?s Book Section
2007-12-10 21:03:00 A mother in Lexington, South Carolina, is in shock after finding an issue of an “inappropriate” manga, featuring a “naked man” on the cover, in the Children ’s books section in a Book s-A-Million store. The manga is “Absolute Boyfriend”, a Shoujo by Manga -ka Yuu Watase, about a girl who goes online to look for the perfect ... Anime at Large: Great Teacher Onizuka
2007-12-10 08:03:00 Great Teacher Onizuka is one of my favorite anime that I have been neglecting to watch--and collect--for a few years. GTO is a story of a bad boy biker turned high school teacher, which spawned in various formats. There is the manga, (currently available at your nearest bookstore), then the live action J-Drama, and finally the animated masterpiece which we see before us. GTO is the first "slice of life" anime I watched that did not have the stereotypical fantasy elements; giant mecha, magical girls, and/or intergalactic super heroes. The stunts Eikichi Onizuka performs leaves positive effects, while some find it just plain wrong. In the end, it delivers a hard hitting message, just like an ABC After School Special. For example, in an episode shows one of Onizuka's female students with the shy, simple minded, big breast complex we see in just about every anime (a'la Orihime Inoue of "Bleach"). Everyone at school makes fun of her appearance, including a long time friend. It's Oniz... More About: Anime , Great , Large

Guest Posting is Now Welcome!
2007-11-11 06:38:00 I'm afraid that writer's block is getting the best of me. To fix this, I am now welcoming guest posts to keep the site going and to give me ideas for future posts (I'm not saying that I'll copy and paste your posts as my own :-P ). I have been wanting to do this for sometime in a different form, but I did not expect this to be soon. Guest posting is a good idea for helping out that new blog of yours or just want to contribute to the blogosphere. :) I added a category in the submission form for submitting guest posts. The rules are simple: the posts must be related to anime, manga, any type of video game (MMO/RPG, arcade, console, etc), and asian culture (such as music, movies and tv shows from asia). A post with at least 200 word is good. Don't forget to include your name (or "pen name" if you wish) and blog address so everyone will know who you are! If your post is good, I will post it as time permits. If, for some reason, you cannot use the submission form, you may send it to...
CEN.TAKU.ME Azeroth Journal [November 2007]
2007-11-11 05:48:00 I have returned from Azeroth to bring you news on my progression with my Warlock and Paladin classes. Things are looking up; however, my Warlock may end up being an alternative toon for revenge in Hillsbrad and Stranglethorn Vale? Since our guild suffered a shake up due to differences in attitudes, we are forced to take alternative measures for enjoyment; hopefully, my paladin will get a shot in Karazhan. Right now, I am leveling up my Blood Elf paladin, currently level 36. My goal is to get half a level a day--or more if my higher level friends help out in instances. With a couple of addons and a a leveling guide to boot, it's smooth sailing. The areas of the game I dread the most are Hillsbrad Foothills and Stranglethorn Vale. If I was playing on a normal realm, this wouldn?t be a problem (yes, I play on a PvP realm). Fortunately, I have been lucky to avoid trouble with Alliance players, except for a few times by hunters?Luckly, I am done with HIllsbrad at my level. Next up: ... Atari in Danger of Losing Dragonball Game License
2007-11-04 02:54:00 It looks like Atari is in trouble as they are in a dispute with FUNimation. FUNi terminated their partnership with Atari claiming that they voilated their contract. I did not think this would come so soon, especially since Dragonball Z : Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is finished and due out in stores very soon. If they don't get things worked out in time, Namco Bandai is around to take the license, since they publish Dragonball Z games in Japan. I hope they do, because they do a good job in promoting the Naruto video games, in my opinion. Plus, Namco is my third favorite game publisher in the world, with Sega being the first, and Square-Enix second. More About: Game , Danger , License

October 2007 Watch List
2007-10-27 10:02:00 October is coming to an end. I came across some good anime this month, including shows that are still on the air, with new opening and ending themes. Let's check out what I have been watching, shall we? Mahoromatic Mahoromatic is about an android sent to earth, working undercover as a maid. However, she has less than a year until she is deactivated. This anime has a lot of fan-service, which is odd ... I'm no stranger to fan-service, but the amount of it surpasses that of "Love Hina "Tenchi Muyo!", and a couple of "unmentionable" anime. The show is funny; I like how the grudge of Suguru's teacher and Mahoro gives the series a different tone, from what will unfold later in the series. Bleach Online Videos by Veoh.com Asian Kung Fu Generation's "After Dark". The 7th Bleach Opening Song. Episode 144 brings in a new opening theme from the J-Rock band, Asian Kung Fu Generation, "After Dark". This is their first song for Bleach, in addition to the theme songs for Naruto and Full... First Episode of Death Note on [as].com
2007-10-20 04:07:00 It's finally here. The first episode of Death Note , dubbed in English, is available on Adult Swim's video area. So far, I'm pressed by the dubbing. The voice for Light and Ryuk fits perfectly! However, it will be a few weeks before we get to hear L's undistorted voice. I'm very anxious about that. For those who are excited about the dub can check it out on [adult swim].com before the television premier tomorrow night. The episode is available until next Friday, October 26, 2007. The Death Note Become Reality (?) in Belgium
2007-10-17 03:38:00 I never thought this would happen...Somebody is actually making the Death Note a reality by leaving a note that says "Watashi wa Kira desu" (I am Kira) next to two bodies in Belgium . This is a horrible way to murder someone, especially since the anime premiers on Adult Swim this Saturday. This story is a couple of weeks old, but as soon as the anime is on the air, and with the movie getting a UK premier, this would give people a reason to say anime [and manga] is a bad thing. Final Fantasy XI - "Dancer" Class to be Playable at Fan Festival
2007-10-13 03:46:00 In the newest issue of Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XI newsletter, it mentions a new playable class will be introduced at the upcoming FFXI Fan Festival . In addition to Puppetmaster and Corsair classes introduced in the Treasures of Aht Urgan, we welcome Wings of the Goddess' "Dancer" as the ninth alternative in the advanced job roster. My opinion? Just give it up already, Square. If I were still playing, I would have given Dancer a shot. I assume it will go along perfectly with Bards, just like in Ragnarok Online. However I'm afraid that time is running out for Vana'diel, in terms of enjoyment. I'm afraid that Final Fantasy XI is done for, especially since World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King's Death Knight will own all of the timely (pun intended, if you have played FFXI and it took you two+ years to get to level 75) classes. Anime at Large: Bleach: The Diamond Dust Rebellion
2007-10-12 07:19:00 Impressions: 9/10 This is the movie poster for the second Bleach movie, "The Diamond Dust Rebellion ". It will be in theaters this Winter. I wonder what the movie will be about...I assume it has something to do with Toshiro Hitsugaya "rebelling" against Soul Society, and it's up to Ichigo to stop him from whatever he is plotting. I hope so...we need to see more of Toshiro and less of Ichigo. Actually, every character in the series, especially one of my favorite characters, Byakuya Kuchiki. It will be a year before we can see a decent quality version of the movie--or, prehaps, finding a free plane ticket to Japan! More About: Anime , Large

2007-10-12 04:46:00 The summer has come to an end. School is back in session, new and returning TV shows are on the air, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. What does this mean? Christmas is not too far away! With only three months remaining in 2007, let's take a look back at the hottest video game trailers that E3, Blizzcon and the Tokyo Game Show showcased this past summer. Starcraft 2 (PC) The biggest announcement at the Blizzard World-Wide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea, is the second installment of the decade old, yet still going strong, Starcraft series. The Protoss, Terran, and the infamous Zerg races return. With the prospect of new customization features catered towards tournament environments, Starcraft 2 is sure to kickoff the Progaming circuit further in the 21st century. Blog Redesign!
2007-10-08 04:51:00 The new look of CEN.TAKU.ME is now online! This is a change from the last layout, "Amadou". The new theme is called "NewsFlash", created by the guys at RoopleTheme. This theme is better than the ones on the Drupal website, as there aren't alot of themes I'm looking for that fits. It's just perfect for this blog, especially since we're nearing 1,000 visitors! I've added a couple of blocks, such as the recent comments block, with the authors name shown. I have looked for ways to get the author's website link shown from the block, like in WordPress, but no go. Hopefully, there will be something in the next Views module or Drupal update for this. My apologies. I have also created a Blog roll page for adding and viewing linked blogs with ease. Now is the perfect time to announce that I am accepting blog exchanges. The blog exchange form can be found on the contact page. There are no exclusive rules for blogs at the moment, except that they must be similar to mine; this means anime a... More About: Redesign

Anime at Large: Mobile Suit Gundam 00
2007-10-08 03:50:00 Impressions: 7/10 The newest anime in the Gundam franchse is now available on your favorite fansub distribution site! I am very optimistic about Mobile Suit Gundam 00 . At first glance, it looks like the artists from Gundam Seed returned for a "seed"-less sequel of the anime. Not a chance! The director of Gundam 00 is Seiji Mizushima, who directed the Fullmetal Alchemist anime. Possibly a good reason to check it out. That is, if you're a huge fan of FMA. Why should you check out Mobile Suit Gundam 00? If you're done with Gundam Seed (whether you loved it or hated it), and have watched every single episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, including the "Conquerer of Shambala" movie, then checking this out could be worth it. English Blue Dragon Website Online
2007-10-06 02:34:00 The official North American website for the Xbox360 RPG turned anime, Blue Dragon, is now live! The site includes news, trailers and character bios. More features are expected to come close to release time. I can't wait to see this show. I managed to find the first episode and it so far, it looks good! This is a must see (and play if you happen to have a Xbox360 around) for Dragonball (Akira Toriyama) and Final Fantasy (Hironobu Sakaguchi) fans. If you have yet to watch Blue Dragon out for yourself, checking out the music video for the second ending theme by SS501 will make you want to watch it. (Don't worry, there's no spoilers.) Hooray For the Rebalancing of Alterac Valley!
2007-10-02 03:49:00 About a week since patch 2.2 was implemented on realms world-wide, I must say that the must talked about AFK scandal in Alter ac Valley has been put to rest. After winning five AV battlegrounds in a row (and on a battleground holiday), this is the best thing to ever happen in the World of Warcraft for PvP fans, including me. In patch 2.2, a feature was added where players can report a player for being AFK. When enough reports are received, the AWOL player gets a debuff preventing s/he from gaining Honor Points from the players' hard work. Previously, the Alliance would win every Alterac Valley 80 percent of the time. In my realm's Battlegroup, Rampage, this was unfortunately true. Before the patch, I have been a part of 3 AV victories since level 50 (the minimum level for AV). Now, with many efforts of reporting absent players in the battleground, the embarrassment of the Horde losing every AV has been cast aside! During the Alterac Valley holiday, I would enter for the extra Hono... More About: Balan
Unofficial changes to World of Warcraft - Patch 2.3
2007-10-01 07:26:00 Patch 2.2 made it's way from the test realm to the main realms, with Voice Chat not quite ready yet for some servers. Until the next big patch update, which will likely be sometime in November, the follow changes have been unofficially announced. Such as an increase in quest EXP gained between levels 20-60, a bank feature for guilds, daily battleground quests, and the ability to hold 12 items per mail sent. That Darn Guild!
More articles from this author:2007-09-30 05:51:00 You may have been wondering why I haven't updated anything about my progress in World of Warcraft for a couple of weeks. Perhaps it's because I couldn't get into Karazhan, and I ended up moping around since that day. Not really. Although, maybe there is a reason while I haven't been playing: My guild was holding me back! After a little incident with a friend who was also in the guild, now I don't have to worry about them anymore. As in my "No Karazhan for Me" story, I could not enter the popular raid instance, Karazhan, because I did not meet the equipment requirements. The reason: my equips were below par from the guild's recommendation. The guild is big on decent gear - preferably purple "Epic" gear, and it is mandatory that the gear be enchanted. The guild, which starts with the letter "S", kicked a couple of my friends a few days ago, including my warlock, due to an "harmless taunt" towars an officer from one of my allies. I am actually a bit relived that this happened... More About: Guild 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
