The buzz has started for Indy 4, and it’s not good. I liked the teaser, and was apathetic towards the trailer. So, yeah. Color me worried. Bookmark to:

Trailer - Harold and Kumar 2
2007-10-27 06:29:00
Check it out here. I was a big fan of the first Harold and Kumar , and this looks like it’ll be pretty funny as well. I think this concept is a lot more ripe for satire than a straight ahead Harold and Kumar go to Amsterdam would have been. An Doogie’s back, which is always good. Bookmark to:

JLA Movie to go Uncanny Valley?
2007-08-23 19:30:00
Filmdrunk.com has a link to a rumor suggesting that the upcoming Justice League of America movie might be motion captured CG (think Polar Express) rather than live action. This is terrible news. Just cast Bale and Routh and make a proper live action kick ass super-hero movie! Motion captured CG just looks creepy, like they propped up a bunch of corpses and moved their lips to the dialog. Confused by the phrase uncanny valley? Go here. Bookmark to:

Garbage Day!! The best/worst death scene ever?
2007-08-17 09:51:00
You decide. This is from Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, and I never get sick of watching it. The video features Ricky (Eric Freeman) going on his insane rampage. That guy acts with his eyebrows like nobody’s business. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7gIpuIVE3 k And here’s a longer version of the scene with more crazy eyebrow acting goodness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xh7junyB2 o Bookmark to:

That Jurassic Park IV Rumor that won’t go away..
2007-08-15 02:10:00
I’ve been hearing this horrible rumor about JP4 for a few years now - that is, that it’s going to involve the government training dinosaurs to carry weapons, and that the dinos might be some kind of intelligent genetically engineered hybrid creature or something.. well that rumor has started popping up again, and it looks like it might actually have some credibility. Is that not the stupidest idea you’ve ever heard? Seriously, all people want to see are big ass cool looking monsters eating stuff - we don’t need corrupt army super dinosaurs with guns, we really don’t. Though, if they threw in GIANT talking monkey pirates… Bookmark to:

More Cloverfield Name Speculation
2007-08-01 22:46:00
So, over at /Film they are no speculating that J.J. Abrams’ Cloverfield aka 01-18-08 aka Monstrous aka … might finally have a real name, and that name is… Overnight. Well, that’s not bad if it turns out to be the real name. This secrecy around the name thing is getting a little boring though. Come on J.J. let’s have it! What’s this thing called? Bookmark to:

Movie Trailer - Resident Evil: Extinction
2007-08-01 07:09:00
I’m torn on the Resident Evil series. I like the games fine. I even like the first movie in a campy, silly sort of way. I can even forgive the fact that it has Michelle Rodriguez in it, playing that clenched grimacy character that she always plays. But Resident Evil : Apocalypse just blew.. there was nothing redeeming about it. But this red band (R-Rated) trailer that Sony has posted for the upcoming Resident Evil Extinction actually looks kind of cool. I don’t think it could possibly be further removed from the games at this point, but it looks like it might be cool for some zombie action. Bookmark to:

Movie Poster for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek and other awesome Star Trek n
2007-07-27 22:40:00
More ComicCon news, this time from moviesonline.ca, who bring us this newly unveiled movie poster for J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek reboot/revamp. I like the retro look with the classic Star Trek font personally. The other big Star Trek news of the day is that it is now confirmed that Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes) has been cast as Mr. Spock - great casting. Also, it is now confirmed that Leonard Nimoy will have a in the upcoming film, and William Shatner most likely will as well! As a trekkie who’s been kind of down on the franchise since ST:TNG went off the air, this is super exciting. J.J.’s doing everything right so far! Bookmark to:

AICN has just broken the news from ComicCon confirming that Marion Raven wood (Karen Allen) will be returning for Indiana Jones 4. Steven and Co. have also launched a new and revamped website with lots of new tidbits about the upcoming flick. Does Cloverfield now have a name?
2007-07-26 17:48:00
Over at AICN they are speculating that Cloverfield - the codename for the movie featured in the nameless trailer that ran before Transformers, will be called Monstrous. The blurry poster they have up looks pretty cool and it could be legit. Bookmark to:

Picture of Robert Downey Jr from Iron Man
2007-07-20 23:08:00
The Movie Blog posted this picture a little while ago. This looks great - they seem to be staying true to the “Tony’s armor keeps him alive” idea from the comics (judging from the fact that he’s wearing a piece of the armor under his shirt). I have high hopes for this one: Robert Downey Jr is great casting for Tony Stark - he’s got the rich alcoholic thing down pat. Bookmark to:

Movie Review - Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
2007-07-19 07:03:00
Director: Shane Black Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is the story of Harry Lockhart (Robert Downey Jr), a petty crook who stumbles into Hollywood, and a world of deception and murder. While trying to escape the police, Harry ducks into and inadvertently nails an acting audition. He is flown in to Hollywood where he meets private eye Gay Perry (Val Kilmer) who takes Harry with him on a job as an opportunity for research for Harry’s upcoming movie role. Harry also meets his childhood friend Harmony (Michelle Monaghan) and together they become involved in an complicated murder case. The Good: Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer play their roles very well. They’re both funny and quirky, and their rapid fire dialog works very well. The film is fairly amusing and entertaining as a send-up for the film noir genre. It’s campy and silly, but never boring. The Bad: The post-modern narration is mildly amusing at first, but get̵...

Another 28 Days Later Sequel?
2007-07-18 17:07:00
So the word on the street (or at least on RottenTomates.com) is that Danny Boyle is prepping another sequel to 28 Days Later. The one would be called, yes, 28 Months Later and could be set in Russia. It sounds like Boyle might step back into the directors chair for this one, which would be awesome. This should probably be the last film for the franchise, though I suppose they could bust out 28 Years Later if they wanted to. 28 Decades Later might be stretching it a bit though. Bookmark to:

Thank God

Finally! This is very good news for the world of horror films. Between the never ending stream of torture porn and the huge number of Asian Horror remakes, American Horror has gotten pretty stale. Seems like the Europeans have been putting out the only decent horror the last couple of years (see The Descent for example) Bookmark to:

Fake Movie Trailer for Medellin (from HBO’s Entourage) Released
2007-07-16 10:44:00
HBO has posted the full length, fake trailer to Medellin the dream project of Vincent Chase, the lead character in HBO’s awesome series Entourage . I love that Billy Walsh is directing (anyone else think he’s modeled after Vincent Gallo?) and that the whole thing is in Spanish. The fat Vincent Chase looks kind of funny too. I kind of wish they would actually make this movie, it looks pretty cool. This also isn’t the first time that HBO has created some fake advertising for one of Chase’s projects. Check out Entourage on HBO if you haven’t already. Great show. Click here to view the trailer. Bookmark to:

Movie Review - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
2007-07-16 09:41:00
Directed by: Gore Verbinski Cast: Johnny Depp, Keira Knightely, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Tom Hollander The sage of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and crew continues in this latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, that is quite a bit better than the last film (but that’s not saying much). If you recall, Sparrow was eaten by the Krakken at the end of Dead Man’s Chest, so this film begins with Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightely), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and the newly resurrected Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) on a mission to retrieve Jack from Davy Jones’ Locker. Meanwhile, the East India Trading Company, lead by Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander), has stepped up its efforts to eliminate piracy from its waters with the help of a now heartless and indentured Davy Jones. A meeting of the “Pirate Lords” is called to address the threat… The Good: The film benefits immensely from the return of Geoffrey Rush. Davy Jo...

Awesome Teaser Trailer for “Cloverfield” aka 01-18-08 aka ?
2007-07-11 07:35:00
Apple.com has the awesome teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ (Lost, Alias, MI:3) upcoming movie project, codenamed “Cloverfield ” or just “01-18-08″. This the trailer with no name that ran before Transformers in a lot of theatres. There’s a pretty interesting viral marketing campaign going on around this movie. The most interesting theory I’ve heard so far is that the story has something to do with H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. That would be so incredibly awesome it can’t possibly be true, but I’m holding out hope. Bookmark to:

On the Lot
2007-07-06 17:29:00
Tuesday’s episode of On the Lot was the first one I’ve enjoyed in a long time. I’m glad the producers have ponied up to let the contestants make new shorts again. Did they really think no one would notice that Kenny’s “short” from a couple weeks back had scenes with about 12 inches of snow on the ground - in the middle of June? The horror films this week were pretty good. Kenny and Jason totally redeemed themselves for me. Kenny’s Zombie/Mountain Men/The Hills Have Eyes effort was intense and cool, and Jason totally knocked it out of the park with his ghost story. Eli Roth made a good judge too as he actually gave some real feedback (unlike Michael “work more on style” Bay) I still can’t believe that Spielberg/Burnett and Co. all got together to conceive the format of On the Lot, and the best they could come up with was an American Idol clone. Am I the only one who finds the 30 second clips they give of the production...
Funny
2007-07-06 17:15:00
This comic from Wednesday’s Penny Arcade is pretty funny - and not too far off I bet. I don’t know if we’ll be seeing that character on the big screen any time soon, but I bet the studios start dredging up every 80s franchise they can think of now. Thundercats? He-Man? She-Ra? Voltron? Bookmark to:

Transformers Sets Records, New Theme Song Sucks
2007-07-05 22:26:00
Michael Bay’s Transformer s has apparently shattered the record for highest Tuesday opening with $27,450,000 according to boxofficemojo.com. I haven’t seen it yet, but I hope it’s better than the new re-imaging of the Transformers theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qX_W7mcNn M Terrible! I’m not sure what’s worse - the bad synth intro, the “nu-metal” rapping, or the part where they name all the Autobots. I prefer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fQ5YBcfhw o Or even: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq0ZJgb-VX 4 Bookmark to:

A bunch more set pictures from Indy 4 showed up on the net yesterday. It looks pretty good so far - but it’s going to be weird watching an Indiana Jones film that’s not set in the 30s or 40s. Click here for more pics. Bookmark to:
