Should we move to Mount Greenwood?
2008-01-16 16:35:00 As I noted in another discussion about the Mount Greenwood school, my wife, son, daughter and I might have to move to Chicago for my job, and we have friends in Mt. Greenwood so we might move there. But what do you think of it? Will it be welcoming to new "out of towners"? I already know about the schools, but what about the businesses? Are they good, do they meet your needs? What about restaurants and entertainment? What are some good web sites to use to found out about Mount Greenwood ? Any help you can give is very much appreciated. Thanks. More About: Move
Spirit of The King
2008-01-14 02:23:00 Telling someone you?re going to see an Elvis show is tricky. Thousands of hacks have tried to capture the essence of the man who ? more than anyone ? embodied popular American music for the second half of the 20th century. The best they could come up with has been a bloated, mumbling caricature of The King , an embarrassment to Presley?s legacy as a performer. read more More About: Entertainment , Spirit , Beverly

Good neighbor / bad neighbor
2007-11-30 16:00:00 As reported in the Daily Southtown, the Sisters of Mercy (who founded both Mother McAuley High School and Saint Xavier University) are hoping to develop a graduated care facility for sisters at 99th and Central. Yet it's already a busy place, with both McAuley and Br. Rice there, not to mention Southwest Elementary School. What do you think? Can the intersection handle more traffic? Does it matter who develops there, or is this a case of good neighbors gone too far? More About: Good

Into the pit: The terrifying trend of dogfighting
2007-11-20 05:04:00 By Gary Cohen Medill Reports - Chicago From birth fighting dogs are trained to do only one thing - attack and kill other animals. The American pit bull terrier, a strong, determined breed with a high prey drive, has become the animal of choice for dogfighters in recent years. Pit bulls are bred by dogfighters for aggression the same way racehorses are bred for speed, said Serrano. Only animals with unusual levels of hostility and consistent success in the ring are being bred. The practice is creating a race of pit bulls with elevated aggression levels toward other animals. read more More About: Police , Dogfighting , Trend
