The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has revealed the band will star in the big screen version of the animated TV show. He tells MTV News , "Green Day is in the movie - I will publicly acknowledge that Green Day are in the movie." "They're really good sports and I think we both honor them and Simpson-ise them. You can take that however you want. They're really nice guys." At the time, the romance caused huge controversy because Richards had been close friends with Locklear. She insisted her friendship with the Melrose Place actress had ended before she starting dating Sambora. However, Richards' representative confirmed to In Touch magazine Tuesday that the couple had split some time ago. The rep says, "Denise and Richie broke up two months ago." Despite their split, Richards attended the funeral of Sambora's father Adam, who died on April 20 following a long battle with lung cancer. Sambora's divorce from Locklear was finalized last month.
