Ivri Lider comes to America
2007-08-23 16:38:00
The most amazing thing about Ivri Lider, a pop singer, is something that happened years ago, when he came out as a gay man in Israel against the wishes of his record company. They told him it would be a career ending move, they were wrong. Ivri Lider is one of the most successful Israeli rock artists of his generation, appreciated by fellow artists, the critics and the public alike. His lyrics express the thoughts of a new generation and are skillfully woven into a very contemporary musical production. It comes as no surprise to those who follow the Israeli music scene that the combination of Ivri's songwriting and his unique voice have made him not only a star, but one of the most adored people in Israel. And now he is taking America by storm with his first English language release. Check out the video for the first single on that album below.Find out more about Ivri Lider at his Official Website.
Pentagon to close anti-terror database
2007-08-22 15:53:00
The Pentagon said Tuesday that it will shut do [Superscript] wn an anti-terror database that has been criticized for improperly storing information on peace activists, gays, and others whose actions posed no threat. It will be closed on Sept. 17. Information collected subsequently on potential terror or security threats to Defense Department facilities or personnel will be sent by Pentagon officials to an FBI database known as Guardian, according to Army Col. Gary Keck, a Pentagon spokesman. The program came under intense scrutiny after news reports revealed officials were collecting data on demonstrators and protestors, including those within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The reports said that the Pentagon had spied on New York University law school’s LGBT advocacy group OUTlaw and gay groups at the State University of New York at Albany, William Patterson College in New Jersey, and University of California at Berkeley and at Santa Cruz. The program was cre...

Ding Dong, the Bitch is dead
2007-08-21 03:42:00
Leona Helmsley became infamous during the 1980s for being a tyrannical "boss from hell" whose petulance seemed ill-suited to the hospitality industry, and for tax-related crimes. Helmsley notoriously declared that "only the little people pay taxes" and, according to Wikipedia, was convicted in 1989 and sentenced to prison for one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, three counts of tax evasion, three counts of filing false personal tax returns, sixteen counts of assisting in the filing of false corporate and partnership tax returns, and ten counts of mail fraud. Helmsley served her time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn. After doing her stint in 1994, Leona had other brushes with the law. In 2003, a jury ruled in favor of the former manager of the Park Lane, who sued Helmsley for wrongful firing after she found out he was gay. “Mrs. Helmsley started what I would call a really mean, really vicious homophobic attack campaign against me at the Pa...

JC# 46 : The Debate : 8/10/07
2007-08-10 18:47:00
Tristin is joined by Matty, VJ, and John for a special election 08 edition of Jaded City. The boys listen to clips from Visable Vote 08, the first ever gay presidential debate and then discuss the candidates. We cut through all the bull shit and spin and say what we really feel about them and what you should know before voting.New music is by SlowMo Erotic, Kevin Hardy and Matthew Hermstad, boyfriends of 3 years, who eat, sleep, and rehearse from their little house in Glendale, California. While Kevin is busy writing the quirky pop songs on his piano, Matt is perfecting the coinciding beats and grooves. Much like the Dresden Dolls, and Mates of State before them, SlowMo Erotic balances catchy choruses and edgy lyrics (Won't you please stop fucking with me head? Won't you please just fuck me instead?) with a musicianship that is unique.Visit JadedCity.com to download past episodes and leave feedback on the show. AND THE HYPOCRITE OF THE WEEK AWARD GOES TO.....
2007-08-09 04:01:00
......recently elected president of the Young Republican National Federation, Glenn Murphy Jr.! Or, that is, ex-president. Tuesday, Mr. Murphy Jr. sent emails to various media outlets announcing that he would be leaving his post, after only a month, in order to pursue a sudden and unexpected business opportunity that required that he not hold a partisan political office. Funny, however, that on friday the Sheriff's department of Clark county (Indiana?) began investigating Mr. Murphy for alleged criminal sexual conduct, a class B felony. According to the Sheriffs department, a 22 year old man claimed that on July 31st, Murphy performed an unwanted sexual act on him while he was sleeping at a relatives home. Here's a juicy snippet, cause you know you want it: "He was holding his dick with one hand and sucking my dick with his mouth." (gee, sounds like morning at my house) So far, charges haven't been filed, but apparently this isn't exactly a new experience for Mr. Murphy, who...

Fight between parents and longtime partner
2007-08-08 05:22:00
Brett Conrad spent more than half his life as Patrick Atkins' partner. For 25 years, the men shared bank accounts, apartments and eventually a home. But when Atkins, 47, fell seriously ill in 2005, Conrad faced what many gays consider a travesty, no law guaranteeing them the same rights as married couples to participate in care decisions for their ill partners. Conrad, 47, spent much of the past two years trying to win guardianship of Atkins from Atkins' parents, Thomas and Jeanne of Carmel. Jeanne Atkins is quoted in court documents as saying she believes homosexuality is a sin and that she disapproves of the men's relationship. The parents have barred Conrad from visiting their now-disabled son in their home where he lives. In June, Conrad won visitation rights from the Indiana Court of Appeals, but the court upheld an earlier ruling that left control of Atkins' care to his parents. Gay-rights activists say the men's story illustrates the discrimination embedded in Indiana ...

School will teach Gay to Straight Conversions
2007-08-07 21:11:00
The School board in Arlington County, Virginia has agreed to allow a so-called ex-gay group to post material for high school students claiming homosexuality can be reversed. It will, however be left to individual schools to accept the material if they have areas where other groups can post fliers. The school system's decision settles a lawsuit by the group Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays, or PFOX. The organization went to court claiming the school district had discriminated against it by refusing to distribute flyers. Arlington County Schools said it had a policy of turning down the distribution of material in high schools from all groups, although the policy was not in writing. Ok, so lets all get together and draw up flyers that promote Straight to Gay Conversions. Surely the school system will have no choice but to allow us to distribute them. It's the same thing right? in June three former leaders of an international ministry that counsels gays to change their sexual orientat...

Do fat people need protection?
2007-08-06 15:41:00
Most states have laws prohibiting discrimination based on race, religion, age, gender and disability. A handful offer protection for gays and lesbians. But what about anti-discrimination laws to protect crispy cream junkies? Lawmakers in Massachusetts are thinking about doing just that. "It's not fair. No matter what you think of fat people, they deserve to be treated like human beings," said Jeanne Toombs, 59, a piano teacher who weighs 300 pounds and is on the board of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance. The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance? Your kidding me right? The proposed law does not define what exactly fat is. It would apply mainly to the workplace but also to landlords and real estate transactions. Under current state law, people claiming discrimination in the workplace or for housing must prove in court that their weight problem is a disability. But Massachusetts courts usually reject such arguments. Well I will tell you why claims like t...

Momma's Boy
2007-08-05 08:12:00
A Sicilian mother took away her 61-year-old son's house keys, cut off his allowance and hauled him to the police station because he stayed out late. Tired of her son's misbehavior, the retiree in the central Sicilian city of Caltagirone turned to the police to "convince this blockhead" to behave properly, La Sicilia, one of Sicily's leading newspapers, reported on Thursday. The son responded by saying his mother did not give him a big enough weekly allowance and did not know how to cook. "My son does not respect me, he doesn't tell me where he's going in the evenings and returns home late," the woman was quoted as saying. "He is never happy with the food I make and always complains. This can't go on." Police helped the squabbling duo make up and the two returned home together, with the son's house keys and daily allowance restored. Most Italian men still live at home late into their 30s, enjoying their "mamma's" cooking, washing and ironing. I don't know, call me crazy, b...

9 Year Old signed by Manchester United
2007-08-02 15:15:00
Rhain Davis, who was born in England but has lived in Australia since the age of four, was hailed by the press on Thursday as the next great soccer superstar after he was signed at the age of nine to the Manchester United Club. What was so unusual in Davis's case was that his skills were brought to the attention of United's youth scouts by a four-minute YouTube clip, already viewed more than 800,000 times. So without further delay, I give you one talented little boy.. United confirmed the signing but played down the hype around Davis, who has moved back to Cheshire with his father, near the club's training ground. "He's a member of our academy and we don't comment on individual members," a United spokesman told Reuters. I'm a not a big sports fan myself but was very impressed with the kids fancy footwork on the field.

Daytona Killing not a hate crime, Police say..
2007-07-31 20:56:00
A man wearing a miniskirt and high heels was shot early Sunday morning outside the Pasta Amore restaurant on North Nova Road in Daytona Beach, FL, and died later that day, authorities said. Oscar Mosqueda, 34, was shot in the head, then transported to Halifax Medical Center, where he died about noon Sunday. Poli ce said that the weekend killing is not being investigated as a hate crime. Witnesses told police Cesar Israel Villazano, 18, had fled in a metallic blue car. Both men were in the club when Mosqueda made a physical advance on Villazano, according to a statement Villazano gave police. Villazano said he was embarrassed about the advance because he isn't gay. Shortly afterward, the two men went outside. Villazano got into Acosta's car, and then started arguing with Mosqueda and another man, Acosta told police. Then Villazano fired a handgun twice into the air and once at Mosqueda, Acosta told police. After the shot was fired, a bartender from the Holly Hill Eagles club next...

Gay Marriage Bill Passes House
2007-07-30 23:33:00
A bill that would legalize same-sex “marriage” in New York was passed Tuesday by an 85-61 vote in the Democratic-led Assembly. Authored by openly gay assemblyman Daniel O'Donnell (D-Manhattan), brother of lesbian entertainer Rosie O’Donnell, and backed by New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer, the bill passed following a three-hour debate and is one of several same-sex issues that have been dominating the state. In the two part video below you can watch Daniel O'Donnell talking about the bill and why it's important. PART 1 PART 2 The bill is not, however, expected to pass through the Senate, which has a Republican majority. "We’re not doing gay marriage by Thursday that's for sure, or this year," explained Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, according to the Associated Press. It is unknown at this time if he will ever change his mind, or if Republicans can ever be swept from power in the Senate. While the vast majority of New Yorkers are democratic, most of the Senate seats are...

The Simpsons Movie Review Part 2: The Rise of Matty
2007-07-29 05:13:00
I just wanna say that I realize that Brad has already given his opinion on this movie.I just would like to give my own personal views. I know, I know, "Why not just put it in the comments?". Well I've been here longer, so I'll do what I damn well please. Don't like it, tough. Anyways, here it is. For the sake of discretion, before I say anything, I want to confess that I did, initially, when I first heard about the movie, have reservations about what to expect. I mean, lets face it, "The Simpsons " of today couldn't touch "The Simpsons" of 10 years ago. Those early episodes were so clever, intelligent, observant, and well written that I am, to this day, still finding things that I missed or didn't understand before. The newer episodes ,however, just seem to be a bunch of desperate, cheap laughs. So,obviously, like I said before,I was more than a little hesitant. But then I read the reviews. The Dallas Morning News and The New York Times both liked this movie and several websit...

Review : The Simpsons Movie
2007-07-27 05:23:00
I was fortunate enough to get a preview pass to see "The Simpsons Movie " tonight. The movie is based on the longest running animated series in TV history of the same name, and it does not disappoint. The characters are richly drawn, not quite as "flat" as on TV. There are plenty of sly cultural references, loads of sight gags, and a little self parody with Homer announcing while watching a novie at the theater, that we shouldn't be paying money for something "you can get on TV for free". They also stretch the boundaries on what can't be done on TV (as much that can fit into a PG-13 rating). There is a great sequence featuring some cartoon nudity and Marge actually swearing! For any fan of the Simpsons, this a must see movie and worth the 4 year production time. Note : At the end of the movie, don't leave when the credits roll, stay through till the end!

LGBT victory: Illinois to become 19th non-smoking state
2007-07-24 03:27:00
Governor Rod Blagojevich today signed the Smoke-Free Illinois Act, which will ban smoking statewide in all public places, including bars, restaurants and work places. The ban goes into effect January 1st and trumps most local ordinances, including those that allowed smoking bans to be phased in or exempted businesses with air filtration systems. Illinois will be the 19th state to institute a smoking ban. Chicago has had a smoking ban, but bars and clubs were exempted until June of 2008. The new state law overrides it. Having been to other non-smoking states, I am thrilled by this news. I am a non-smoker myself, and have always wondered why the GLBT community has such a higher rate of smoking than the population as a whole. Actually, according to the NY times : "The LGBT community has the highest rate of smoking than any other minority population." An article in the San Francisco Chronicle has the results of a study that shows three main reasons for smoking : Stress, targete...

UPDATE : You did it..
2007-07-24 01:23:00
You did it, our goal to raise $3,500 for HIV/AIDS charities has officially been reached. We now stand at an amazing $3,540 to date. If you still want to give some money, you can, as every dollar helps. However I can now shift my focus off fund raising and on to training full time. I would like to thank all of you that have helped. I would also like to thank the listeners, fans, and users of Just Us Boys, Archer Radio, Ongline Radio, Feast of Fools, and Asylumsoft. I can't list everyone and every site that helped because the list would be just too long. But I do thank everyone that helped. I would also like to thank the Archer Radio Listener who provided the matching funds that pushed us over. And a big thanks to my dear friend Trellin who has covered my Air Fair and Hotel for me. I still have a few items I still need to get and a lot of training to do but things are looking much better.

The Senate All-Nighter
2007-07-18 07:22:00
I have to tell you all that I am just giddy with excitement over this whole Iraq War debate going on in the Senat e . In fact, I’ve been watching it since I got home this afternoon and only took a break in order to have a quick shower. I only missed Lieberman, so I doubt if anything profound was said while I was gone. (btw does anyone else feel that Lieberman sounds exactly like Dr. Zoidberg from “Futurama”?) Needless to say, for an NPR nerd like me, this whole debate has been like geeky pornography. I can’t wait to hear what Mara Liasson and Cokie Roberts have to say about it on “Morning Edition” tomorrow. Until then, however, I thought I’d give you a little of my opinion of what has gone on so far. First of all, I agree with the Republicans that a good deal of this debate is political theater. The Democrats don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting the 60 votes they need to end debate and even if they did somehow squeeze that out they sure as hell don’t have enough to ...

Double your donations, This week only..

As many of you know I was interviewed on Archer Radio on Monday about my AIDS Ride. One of his wonderful listeners contacted Archer and myself and has offered to match all donations that come in between now and Friday dollar for dollar. If you have not yet donated to the ride, this week is the perfect time to do so. Make a donation of $20 and the ride will get $40. Donate $100 and the ride gets $200. You get the idea. We have collected 7 donations so far this week totaling $500. If we can push that number to $750, our kind Archer Radio listener's matching fund will officially push us over the top. Thanks so much everyone. Please feel free to Donate to the AIDS Ride if you can, we have less than a month to go. You can check out My Interview on Archer Radio as well. Have a great day.

Health Officials baffled by TFS Rash..
2007-07-17 10:07:00
I'm going to be taking a week off from posting blogs here as I am currently laid up in bed with a nasty rash. My itchy scratchy started when Matty came town for gay pride weekend. I can only assume that the rash is some how related to his Texas funk. The rash has progressively got worse over the last few weeks and I found myself at the Hospital on Monday. Turns out that my "friend", who has been visiting my apartment the last few weeks now also has my itchy scratchy goodness. We now know that two New Yorkers have been afflicted with what is now being called by New York Heal th officials as the Texas Funk Syndrome or TFS for short. The residents of our fair city have been notified via the CDC and local health officials. Tips on how to avoid TFS 1. End all contact with people from Texas. 2. Tell all your friends to avoid people from Texas. 3. Send Matty hate mail and pipe bombs. This has been a public service announcement from your good friends at Jaded City. Ok, in all seriousne...

GLBT 1 Republicans 0
2007-07-14 13:57:00
It is that time of the month when we here at Jaded City get to award the Hypocrite award to a State Rep Bob Allen (R) from the state of Florida! He has been a big foe of the GLBT community by being a a supporter of amending the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage and has opposed a bill to curb bullying of gay students. What is very funny is that he sponsored a failed bill that would have tightened the state's prohibition on public sex. Now why is this funny? It seems that Mr Allen decided he needed to go cruise some bathrooms for sex and was busted by a undercover police officer. He had offered the officer $20 for oral sex in a bathroom at Veteran's Memorial Park in Titusville. The other interesting tidbit that he was also the co-chair for Sen John McCain's presidential campaign and has resigned this past Thursday due to this.

The life of Mr. Hands (Video)
2007-07-14 02:42:00
A man named Mr. Hands from Washington really loved his horse. So much in fact he let his horse fuck him up the ass and filmed it. That is until the horse perforated his colon and killed him. The video you are about to watch is allegedly that of Mr. Hands and his last encounter with a horse. This video was taken in some kind of hellish bestiality bordello in Seattle. Bestiality is in fact not illegal in the state of Washington and this stable had been functioning as a zoophiliac's knocking shop for some time. Somehow, Mr. Hands was the first person to actually get killed by the anal penetration of an enormous horse cock. There is to be no rest, even in death, for poor Mr. Hands, a movie entitled "Zoo" has been out from some time now and covers the hidden love that only a man and a horse can share. This video is extremely graphic, we highly advise against viewing, for you sick fucks, enjoy. You must be over 18 to view. Jaded Factoid: Bestiality is completly legal in the f...

Gay Games Chicago - in the black!
2007-07-13 04:31:00
Gay Games Chicago I was lucky enough to participate and live in the city that hosted the Gay Games Chicago">Gay Games in 2006, Chicago. The experience of running out onto Soldier Field with 12,500 athletes and being cheered was a moment I will never forget. I actually came within 1 win of winning a medal in tennis! See my gallery from the games here. i wasn't planning to go, but my experience in 2006 has me wanting to attend the 2010 Games in Cologne, Germany. I am somewhat gratified to read that for the 1st time in 20 years, the Gay Games actually turned a profit, even though the Chicago organizing team had 2 years less of planning then usual, due to Montreal losing the sanction for the Gay Games, and the games were consequently awarded to Chicago. (click on read more at the end of this post to see the email and press release) Many viewed the Chicago Gay Games as a warmup to a possible Olympic bid.
