POP: Edgar Allen Poe reads the Raven
2008-08-04 14:30:00 I've been seeing this style of animation quite a bit lately. If you find this at all interesting I also recommend the free animated comic of the Watchmen now available on Itunes. More About: Video , Pop , Allen , Raven

POP: Joe Eszterhas on Screenwriting
2008-08-03 14:30:00 Yes! It is actual advice from a screenwriter who actually has made films that people watch. I read his most recent book The Devil's Guide to Hollywood and is definitely worth checking out, even when he repeats himself. More About: Video , Pop , Film , Screenwriting

POP: Help Save the Bees
2008-08-02 14:30:00 I wholeheartedly agree that the drop in honey bee population should be considered a very grave situation. In fact I think it is more alarming than global warming, if it is not a symptom of it, and if not addressed we can expect some world class starvation. More About: Politics , Pop , Bees , Save

The X Files: I want to Believe (2008)
2008-08-01 14:30:00 When you review a film like this do you look at it relative to the series or do you look at it relative to the feature film? If X Files: I want to Believe were written as a two part miniseries for TV I would praising it as a nice return to the characters we know and love, even when it does come off a tad anticlimactic considering what they have been through in the past. POP: Help Save 1-800-Suicide
2008-08-01 14:30:00 I had no idea this mess was even going on with all the other attacks on human rights that Bush has been committing. Sending police to a person's home instead of talking them through it. Is he trying to provoke jumpers? I don't know what could be possibly worse. Oh wait, that would be loss of confidentiality so that callers would be even more reluctant to have someone talk them out of it. More About: Politics , Government , Pop , Suicide

Sessler?s Soapbox: Grand Theft Logic
2008-05-07 19:09:00 Having heard the NPR debate between Jack Thompson and Adam Sessler over GTA IV, it's necessary to really see Sessler end the GTA debate with a well spoken soapbox rant. More About: Video , Politics , Gaming , Xbox , Tech
Yeah I was In one of those Crazy Lines?
2008-04-30 18:11:00 I stood in line with my preorder receipt at the Dundas Futureshop in Toronto. There were 2 lines: One for preorders and one for people just waiting in line to buy. There looked to be a good 200 or so people in the waiting to purchase line. My line? I was 16th and showed up two hours late. Did I mention I got in before the 200+ people? Kinda made me laugh. The cops showed up but only to get them to turn off the music. It was pretty funny seeing 200 some GTA buyers giving the stink eye to the police. Troy Duffy Speaks? No one Listens
2008-03-20 08:40:00 I'm not sure if it is because Boondock Saints has had nearly a decade to stew or it was watching the making of documentary, Overnight, that has caused my view of the movie to sour. Or maybe it is simply the fact that I was able to see it as a better than average DTV(Direct-To-Video ) rather than as a full fledged theatrical film. Right now, All Saints Day is looking as necessary as a Lost Boys sequel. More About: Film , Troy , Sequel , Duffy
Tropic Thunder gets a Trailer
2008-03-20 07:53:00 I have been looking forward to this Ben Stiller directed comedy, Tropic Thunder, since I had only heard it as a parody of Apocalypse Now. After seeing the trailer (below) it most definitely comes off as more than just a parody. And major kudos for pulling off Robert Downey's character without coming off as supremely offensive. That's a fine line a large number of comedians would botch this baby up. More About: Video , Comedy , Film , Jack Black
SNL Digital Short: Andy?s Dad
2008-03-18 05:44:00 Jonah Hill hosted this week's episode of SNL and brought in the second memorable SNL short of this season. It's too bad most of the show that Saturday night was off. More About: Video , Humor , Saturday Night Live , Andy , Digital
Charlie Wilson?s War (2007) Review
2008-03-12 01:15:00 If you enjoy politics and war but also don't feel like getting depressed or bored than I feel I can completely recommend Charlie Wilson's War. The writing is top notch from Sorkin and Nichols directs a political film that doesn't overstay it's welcome or try to condescending. More About: Reviews , Film , Julia Roberts , Tom Hanks , Review
Great World of Sound(2007) Review
2008-03-09 21:37:00 Great World of Sound is directed by Craig Zobel; probably not a name you recognize but likely you are familiar with his work. Zobel is co-founder to Homestar Runner and has also been second unit director on David Gordon Green's Undertow(one of the underappreciated films of 2004). GWOS tells the story of a man, Martin (Pat Healy) who picks up an ad to become a record producer, excited by the idea of helping undiscovered artists, only to become part of a low-level scam job. ?Making the cut? Online
2008-02-29 02:19:00 This was I guess my thesis film while I was attending Sheridan College two years ago. It was my first stab at directing straight comedy and I have to say despite making it through it during a college teacher's strike it was a pleasant experience. The 2008 Oscar Winners
2008-02-25 22:14:00 Besides that and Tilda Swinton surprising but well deserved Oscar win, this was my best Oscar score since 1999's year with American Beauty, and this is the last time since 1993's Oscars that I can say I am not pissed off at the results, well except for Juno. It was like Bizarro day for them without a single nomination from the Razzies. Well here's the list. More About: Winners , 2008
?I drink your milkshake? On SNL
2008-02-25 22:01:00 When something makes it onto Saturday Night Live it usually means it has finally gone mainstream and can now be considered 'cool'. The irony is that I got the impression from the lack of laughter that no one in the audience had seen There Will Be Blood , or No Country for Old Men... or even Juno. Not the funniest sketch ever but it deserved better than that frigid audience. More About: Humor , Film , Drink
Jennifer Garner must be Heartbroken?
2008-02-25 21:45:00 If you haven't seen the recent viral clip from Jimmy Kimmel's birthday where Sarah Silverman goes on to admit that while Jimmy has been away she have been having non-accidental sex with Matt Damon . Simply, this is Jimmy Kimmel's revenge. Both videos are after the jump. More About: Humor , Ben Affleck , Jennifer Garner , Jennifer
Star Wars is Pure Evil
2008-02-25 21:31:00 Apparently my views that George Lucas is my Judas just may have more validity than I previously believed. I'm not sure if this was outside a convention or one of the prequel screenings (in which this protestor is completely justified). More About: Humor , Film , Satan , Star Wars , Wars
Star Wars according to a 3 Year Old Girl
2008-02-25 21:09:00 The title of this post pretty much is the summation of this video. It's a 3 year old girl summing up the plot to Episode IV of Star Wars . Don't Piss off Darth Vader. More About: Humor , Film , Girl
Hillary Continues to Demonize herself
2008-02-22 23:28:00 Being North of the border we Canadians can’t help but get caught in the US Federal elections. They clog up our radios and TV networks and frankly they turn out to be more interesting Jerry Springer-wise than our own elections. The Republican side has not been very interesting. I laughed at the idea of transvestite in denial even trying to get elected, and just assumed McCain was going to be running from the get go. The democrats on the other hand, I was surprised to see John Edwards go. Not that I like him or anything, but he does remind me of a younger Bill Clinton with similar values. I think I meant that as a compliment. Hillary … oh Hillary…. She has made herself come off as extremely condescending and arrogant. Both these labels were misdirected at John Kerry in ‘04 and ruined his run (how many times did he have to mention he was in Vietnam?). Hillary however seems to be doing it to herself. She can now be called a hypocrite after attacking Obama’...
Human Intelligence is Retroverting
2008-02-22 21:25:00 You’d think after we had satellite photography and the ability to forecast weather that the argument that ‘The Earth is flat’ would be over. Apparently not. This clip comes from an Iraqi TV network where a physicist is trying to have a serious debate with a ‘Researcher on Astronomy". Instead all you get is dogmatic belief purported as fact. My favourite argument is about seeing a boat on the horizon where he starts spouting off about the blurred distance. Well then… maybe he should try this experiment on a day with high visibility and not during a sandstorm. Apparently scientists have no idea how the eye works… but he is perfectly capable of explaining his idea of it. I’m starting to get the impression they just grabbed a crazy homeless guy off the street. Watch the video after the jump. (more…) More About: Intelligence , Human
Jooky Make you Manly Man!
2008-02-22 21:01:00 Though the product, Jooky, may be fictional in this Sprite commercial, just try and get that jingle out of your skull. They don’t make commercials like they used to… Video after the jump. (more…) More About: Make , Manly
I’m not Crazy. It does exist!
2008-02-22 20:56:00 A year back I was scouring the Internet for a simple sprite commercial I had seen years and years ago on TV for Sprite with no luck. Well sheerly by accident, I ran across it on Youtube today. I don’t want to explain a bit of it. Just watch. Video after the Jump. (more…) More About: Crazy , Exist
