Avril Lavigne triumphed at the European Music Awards beating the likes of Christina Aguilera and Rihanna for best solo artist of the year, and her hit single ‘Girlfriend’ won an award for the Most Addictive Track. Nelly Furtado won album of the year for Loose, but poor old Justin Timberlake failed to win any of the four categories he was up for. Amy Winehouse was presented with the Artists Choice trophy. Geri Halliwell is reportedly considering adopting a child from Africa . Geri visited Zambia with the UN last year. Geri spoke about being a single mother and expanding her family saying, “I’m so supported, and I’m so privileged. So many women today are single parents, I don’t feel different. I think you get out of life what you put into it, and Bluebell was a beautiful accident. I feel blessed to have her. I’m learning every day as a mother.” Geri said she’s “educating myself about overseas adoption at the moment”, including visiting poor countries about which she said, “I went to Zambia last year, and what I saw there was unbelievable. David Beckham might be feeling miserable in Los Angeles but he looks fantastic on the front cover of Arena Magazine . David has reportedly told Victoria that he misses England and wants to go back home. Poor David I was surprised when I first read that David and Victoria were thinking of moving to America. I know there was a lot of money involved in his transfer, but I was still surprised when they actually left England. I couldn’t imagine them being happy living there, and sadly it seems they aren’t. I think the only improvement in their lives living in LA instead of England would be the sunshine. Maybe once Victoria has finished her upcoming Spice Girls tour and is home more they will make some more friends and feel more at home?

Britney Spears is reportedly furious that her ex Kevin Federline is escaping the court ordered drug testing, while she has to submit to random checks. A friend of Britney’s said, “She is furious. She believes the court is more sympathetic towards Kevin.” I agree, it does seem as though the court has handed out one rule for Britney and another for Kevin. Britney needs to get her lawyers to sort this out, obviously in the name of fairness Kevin should be ordered to submit to random drug tests too.

Kylie Minogue was all smiles last night as she was presented with the Music Industry Trust’s Award in recognition of her 20 year career. The event took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. Kylie was described as ‘an icon of pop and style’, who has continued to ‘reinvent, experiment and inspire’. Kylie is the first woman to receive the award, in the event’s 16 year history. Brad Pitt ’s divorce from Jennifer Aniston hasn’t put him off of tying the knot again. Brad spoke about marriage saying, “I still want to kiss the bride, wear the ring, wear my suit and wake up in the morning and say ‘Good morning wife’.” I wonder if Brad and Angelina will ever marry each other? I can see why they may not, as between them they have three failed marriages, and the odds of a marriage between them lasting long term, are not that good. But it would be good for their children to have some stability, as they do lead rather unsettled lives with all of the travelling they do.
