New Fahrenheit 451 Movie On The Way

Frank Darabont has written the screenplay and is set to direct the adaptation of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 . And the rumor posted over at AICN is that Darabont has chosen Tom Hanks to play Guy Montag, the fireman.This will be the second film adaption of Bradbury's story. The first was the 1966 François Truffaut film.For any Bradbury fan, this article on the misinterpretation of Fahrenheit 451 should be required reading. In it, Bradbury explains that it's not a story about censorship, but rather the dumbing down of society through television. And the parallels between the television "walls" in Fahrenheit and today's giant flat-panel TV's are interesting.

Bionic Woman

You have to be impressed with BSG producer David Eick's ability to seemingly be able to take any campy 70's sci-fi television show and make it interesting. His new project is a remake of The Bionic Woman . The new version, premiering this fall on NBC, stars Michelle Ryan as Jamie Sommers and Battlestar Galactica's Kattee Sackhoff in a recurring role.Check out NBC's Bionic Woman website here.

Haha. Yes, the man on the right with the "finger sack" hanging off neck is Harlen Ellison . The picture is from 'The Discarded', part of ABC's new summer anthology series 'Masters of Science Fiction'. One of the most highly anticipated new sci-fi television series' this year is The Sarah Connor Chronicles , which is set to debut on the Fox network in January 2008 and stars Leana Headey (300) as Sarah Connor , Thomas Dekker (Heroes) as John Connor and Summer Glau (Firefly/Serenity) as Cameron Phillips, a high school student whom turns out to be more than she appears.The Sarah Connor Chronicles is set 2 years after the events of T2: Judgement Day and in an alternate timeline from the one we saw in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. In this time, Sarah and John find themselves isolated and on the run from the law as well as more enemies from the future when they are suddenly granted the protection of an adolescent-looking female Terminator from the future.The series sounds pretty promising. Beginning Saturday, August 4th (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) and running throughout the month of August, ABC will be airing 'Masters of Science Fiction ' a mini-anthology series featuring the talents of many acclaimed writers, directors and actors. Prof. Stehphen Hawking will provide narraration bookends for each episode of the series.
