Decatur County, TN - Illegal Games
2007-10-05 05:20:00
Well, you're just gonna love this:So I had to go and get the forms to file an appeal after they railroaded me in Decatur County , TN court the other day. The chick behind the counter started talking about how I had to pay a fee and get a new bond and had to be an attorney, but the Decatur County Clerk said that none of that was true because the law had changed or something. Then they said they did not have a recording or transcript of the entire hearing the other day!!! I swear before God Almighty! And, And, AaAND they don't even have a copy of the evidence they used to convict me!I have a bad feeling that half of what she said probably is true and they're going to just ignore my motion for appeal and then say I never showed up for probation next Thursday and violate me on it. Not to mention they'll likely "discover" a recording or transcript of the hearing the day I show up in court for my appeal (assuming it goes through) and play everything I said ugly out of context to u...

Supernatural's 3rd-Season
2007-10-05 05:13:00
Supernatural is back, y'all!Did you catch the third-season opener? Pretty damned good! I mean, Supernatural is easily the best show on TV nowadays - and not just in its genre or category; Supernatural is the best thing on TV, hands-down.The episode starts a week after last season ended, with Dean and Sam outside a hotel, where Dean is enjoying some quality time with "the Doublemint Twins." Bobby calls and the pair meet him somewhere to find out the Seven Deadly Sins have taken human form and been released upon the earth.Written by series creator, Eric Kripke, this was yet another great episode to add to the roster. Honestly, I have yet to see a ho-hum episode, much less a bad one! While it wasn't exactly outstanding - at least not in the sense that the second-season finale was outstanding - it was a great show that hinted around as to how last season's events are going to affect this one's.Also, it introduced a new character whose name was not given - an extremely hot young...

Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite!
2007-10-05 03:16:00
*This is a Sponsored Post*Yes, yes, we all know the old rhyme, but not so many people know that bed bugs are a real thing - seriously. They are small, red, little dudes that can cause muchos discomfort. Their bites cause big, red welts that itch and sting for days, and once they get in, they're almost impossible to get out. In fact, I thought the only way to get rid of them was to throw out the mattress and burn it!But this new site has all sorts of ways to deal with a bed bug infestation, including how to find out if you even have one. So if you should find yourself needing information on how to handle such a problem or (better yet) how to avoid being plagued by such a problem to begin with, surf on over and check it out today!

Indiana Jones New Film Compromised?
2007-10-05 00:22:00
Feds managed to track down the cats who broke into Steven Spielberg's offices and made off with laptops containing more than 2500 still photos from the new Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The computers also contained information on the budget and other inside information the filmmakers are trying to keep under wraps. The entire Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film is being kept under tight cover. However, they also had to settle with an extra, 24-year old Tyler Nelson, after the actor released key plot points to Oklahoma's Edmond Sun.Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is scheduled for a May, 2008 release, but a teaser trailer is expected as soon as Thanksgiving.

The Key to Conquest: Quasar #4
2007-10-05 00:05:00
I have a few old issues of Quasar, but I must admit I'm none too familiar with the character. The Marvel Universe has a rich and colorful roster of planets, alien races, and extraplanar characters, even though they often come under fire for their focus on mutants, but I have to admit, I'm just not that interested in those concepts - that's the main reason I didn't get into DC comics more when I was a kid. As I get older, I'm starting to enjoy them more, but I have not seen the new Quasar. This is an official Marvel press release:The quest for the Kree savior ends in Annihilation: Conquest –– Quasar #4 as Pyhla-Vell, the daughter of Captain Marvel, and the former Avenger Moondragon take on the Phalanx and the Super Adaptoid! Writer Christos Gage (House of M: Avengers, WWH: X-Men) and penciler Mike Lilly (Nightwing) have stacked the odds against our heroes, leaving Phyla’s quantum bands drained, and facing an ever-adaptable villain backed with a full Phalanx army and arm...
Meet You Later
2007-10-04 23:18:00
*This is a Sponsored Post*There are tons of dating sites on the web - we have covered many of them right here, in fact - and a lot of them are pretty much the same. But even though their basic concept may be similar, you want one that has its own personality. A dating site that is fun, light, exciting - not just a "This is who I am" and "I am looking for this kind of date" and a place to upload pictures.www.Meet YouLater.com is such a site. It is breezy, fun, and designed to let the users make it their own. There is no overall "concept" you have to work through and no long questionnaires or surveys to undertake. You have unlimited e-mails, upload your photos, tell a little bit about yourself, and you're off and running! While it's still new, MeetYouLater has all the functions of most other dating sites, but with a fun, humorous tone and free-form design. Over time, I'm sure the site will become its own creature and now is the best time to become a member so you have a say in ...

2007-10-04 23:08:00
Sorry this has been a slow week. I have several press releases to get out, as well as some good entertainment news, I just haven't been working so much because of everything going on in my personal life - the court case, this being the first of the month (bill time!), and my neck.As I've mentioned at least 12104974397 times before, I have Degenerative Disc Disease, which basically means the "cushion" between several of my vertebrae is disappearing, leaving the bones to rub together. It's very painful and now it has pinched a nerve, so that when I spend too much time in an upright sitting position, my left arm starts to tingle and become numb, like it was asleep. The result is that it feels like it's constantly being poked with pins and needles. It's been especially hard on me the past few weeks and my thumb in particular has been hurting, so I have been trying to stay off the computer as much as possible.I have also been trying to do as much work on The Weirding as I can, w...
Wolf-Man Sells Out Again!
2007-10-03 21:59:00
I saw this one in Previews a few months back (cover feature), but Previews is a bit of a misnomer: it's really just a raw listing of upcoming comics - it doesn't tell you anything about them. It may have had a short article on what to expect, but I wasn't too impressed with what I read and decided to pass. Looks like I may have made a mistake! This here's an official Image Comics press release:Jason Howard and Robert Kirkman's ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN has once again sold out at the distributor level soon after its September 26th release and is returning with an all-new cover by Ryan Ottley and Kelsey Shannon. "I can't be any happier with the overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans and retailers alike," series writer Robert Kirkman said. "From the moment issue one hit the stands everyone has been very enthusiastic for the book. Launching a new superhero title is never easy so Jason and I highly appreciate the continued support." Since its Free Comic Book Debut, WOLF-M...

*This is a Sponsored Post*Are you a video gamer? I know, most people just call them "gamers" now, but I prefer to make the distinction because I play pen & paper role-playing games... but I digress. Most of the real, hardcore video gamers I know have more than one console - they have at least a PlayStation, an X-Box - usually more than one version of the same console, too!And they have games. Games and games and games for days! That is a cool thing about video gaming: much like movies, you can follow them through to the end, let them set around for a few weeks, months, years - whatever - and then enjoy them again. And, with many games, the experience is different each time, so it's almost like it's a brand new game.Shopping .com has a host of X-Box games for sale, from classics to new releases, all at competitive prices. Shop by price, publisher, genre, and more. Games are rated and reviewed, so you know exactly what you are getting before you buy. It has never been eas...
Spider-Man: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
2007-10-03 19:31:00
Marvel has some killer organizations that rarely get used or even mentioned in the larger Marvel Universe. There's A.I.M., V.I.P.E.R., and of course, S.H.I.E.L.D. (those are just the first 3 that come to mind - they have a ton of them). I always wondered why more writers didn't incorporate more of these organizations in their stories, given that they are supposed to be pretty large groups, but very few of them are ever mentioned or come into play, even indirectly. I've always dug S.H.I.E.L.D. for one reason: it begins with a N. and ends with a Fury. Nick Fury was the original Marvel badass, long before Wolvie or Cable or any of the other hard-nosed grunts they trotted-out in the '90s, but S.H.I.E.L.D. itself really didn't get a true face until Frank Miller's (and Bill Sienkiewicz') seminal Elektra: Assassin in 1986, where they were revealed to be a kind of superpowered C.I.A. But I've blathered long enough - this is an official Marvel press release:You’re falling behi...

Death Dealer Rises Again!
2007-10-03 01:23:00
I doubt anyone in the free world is unaware of Frank Frazetta. Even if they don't know his name, they know his work. He is easily the most influential pop artist of the 20th (and 21st, so far) Century. His Death Dealer pieces have graced album covers, spawned a series of books, and has now come to comics. This is an official Image Comics press release:BERKELEY, CA (October 2nd, 2007) - Frank Frazetta's return to comics with DEATH DEALER has been revered by fans old and new alike as evidenced by multiple sell-outs, including the recent issue four which is returning in a special gold-foil edition. "Taking on DEATH DEALER was initially nerve wracking," series writer Joshua Ortega said. "But the reception the fans have given the series really drives the entire creative team. We always think we're overestimating on the initial print run, but we're consistently overwhelmed. Our thought is to reward fans by offering these top of the line, gold and silver foil editions as a...

*This is a Sponsored Post*I love my home. I rent, so I'm limited as to what I can do with what I have, but I have made some real improvements - shelving in the closet, shelving in the kitchen - things most people who rent do not bother to do, but then again, a most people don't spend as much time in their home as I do. Working from home means that my living areas and working areas are one and the same and I need them to be both comfortable and functional. And this is never truer than in the kitchen and bathroom.Faucets.com is not just the place to buy new faucets, it has full installation instructions, guides on which faucets fit which kinds of sinks, and much, much more. It is a one-stop shop for all your Moen products and other faucet needs, not to mention a fantastic guide to kitchen and bathroom improvements and how-tos!

Jena 6: No Noose is Good Noose
2007-10-02 19:36:00
A new Jena 6 "rally" for kindergarten students - supposed to teach them about racism - found a grandmother putting a noose around her granddaughter's neck to teach that dirty, little bitch a lesson! Oh wait, it was to show her what it feels like to have a noose around her neck. Wait - I think it was to, um, oh! Yeah, it was to show a kindergartener what being lynched feels like. Because we all know what a big problem lynching is these days.Do you remember the famous Psych experiment with the young children, where they separated the kids with green eyes from the ones with brown and then encouraged the children to basically discriminate against one another based on these differences? I don't know that it is effective with kids so young, but the concept behind the experiment was directly applicable to modern society: it shows that something as slight as the color of one's eyes can be used as the grounds for discrimination. That happens - that happens in the real world on an ev...

Ford Art Scholarships
2007-10-02 19:10:00
You have likely heard my art school story (stories): I was accepted into two of the premiere art schools in the nation, but could not afford to go to either one when all was said and done. But the thing I discovered as I was finding this out is that you can literally make a full-time job out of searching for, finding, and entering scholarship contests! It can be very frustrating. And while I know a few people who managed to hold down as many as two or three jobs while they attended classes, few of them graduated (yet) and it took them many, many years to complete their studies. You would think that, as important as a college education can be in today's world, there would be more opportunities for truly talented, intelligent people who want to further their education, but the cold, hard reality is that most scholarships are woefully inadequate and although they help, they are rarely worth the time and effort spent to secure them. But there are great exceptions and the Ford Motor Co...

The Avengers' Last Stand Against Ultron?
2007-10-02 18:48:00
I've always been a closet Avenge rs fan. I don't know what it is about them, but they seem to be one of the few supers teams that escaped the whole "dark Marvel" routine that swept through Comicdom back in the 1990s. They have always remained true to their superhero roots - but that's not to say they're Boy Scouts or anything, just that they never sank to the realm of vigilantism and have always remained larger-than-life supers. The interior work on this one looks pretty damned good, too! This is an official Marvel press release:Nuclear missiles have been launched, Iron Man is nowhere to be seen and the Sentry is mourning the loss of his wife. Oh yeah, Ultron’s back and it’s taken the form of Janet Pym so it can wreak havoc on the world! In Mighty Avengers #5, from the red-hot superstar creative team of writer Brian Bendis and artist Frank Cho, it’s the penultimate chapter of the team’s first mission…but is there any way to defeat a foe who just won’t stay down? *This is a Sponsored Post*I have made no secret of the fact that I do not gamble. It is no moral thing or anything along those lines - I lived close to Tunica for most of my life and went to the casinos numerous times - I just do not enjoy it as much as most people seem to. I am more of a "sure thing" kind of guy; I personally do not enjoy "the chase" or "tempting Fate," but I completely understand the mindset of those who do and appreciate their zest for life. This being the case, I do not know much about the new law they snuck past us recently here in the US. All I have heard is that online gambling is supposed to be illegal throughout the nation to some degree, but I still see websites advertising to US citizens and more than a few have detailed explanations of the new law(s). I have not personally delved into it simply because it does not directly affect me, but I know that some sites, such as www.sportsbook-watch.com, have listings for all sorts of sites still accepting US b...

Kirby's Captain Victory Resolicited
2007-10-02 05:45:00
Jack Kirby is a legend for obvious reasons, but some people might not know that Kirby's departure from comics came about largely because he felt Stan Lee had taken undue credit for a lot of his work. Kirby basically designed such characters as Spider-Man (though Ditko is more closely-related to the webslinger), Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, and many more. But Kirby continued to do sequential art long after the whole Marvel thing fell apart. This is an official Image Comics press release:BERKELEY, CA (October 1st, 2007) - While Image Comics is set to expand its line of creator-owned Jack Kirby classics with the upcoming CAPTAIN VICTORY hardcover, the decision has been made to hold off its release until a proper restoration can be completed. "The last thing we want to do is release an inferior version of this material," Executive Director of Image Comics Eric Stephenson stated. "The more involved we've gotten in the restoration process, the more obvious it has become that ...

Britney Spears Loses Custody of Sons!
2007-10-02 04:07:00
Gah! It seems to have been a bad day in court for all the beautiful people! Britney Spears lost custody of her children earlier today! Her ex-husband and the children's father, K-Fed - aka Kevin Federline - will have sole physical custody of the two children beginning Wednesday.K-Fed's attorney petitioned the court for the unscheduled hearing today after Britney was spotted carting her kids, Sean Preston (2) and Jayden James (1) around Los Angeles just weeks after being popped for driving without a license. This was compounded by misdemeanor charges stemming from an August hit-and-run with a Mercedes Benz and Britney Spears' former bodyguard testifying that he had witnessed the former pop icon using drugs and acting "erratically" around the children.Brit-Brit's lawyer has quit, her management dumped her, she bombed at the VMAs, and if she is found guilty on the misdemeanor charges, she could face up to 6 months in jail!Spears' new album hits stores November 13th.Her life and...

What If the Hulk Hadn't Waged War?

I haven't gotten into the whole World War Hulk event just because Hulk isn't one of the cats I collect - never really have. I got into him some when McFarlane was on the title and have several issues from throughout Peter David's scripting reign, but I was just never a big Hulk fan. Obviously though, WWH has been huge! Here's an official Marvel press release on WWH:As the summer’s biggest comic book event, World War Hulk, rages on, acclaimed writer behind it now turns his attentions to what could have been in What If? Planet Hulk. From Planet Hulk and World War Hulk author Greg Pak, artists Leonard Kirk, Rafa Sandoval and Fred Hembeck, comes this special extra-sized one-shot showing just how the year’s top selling event could have gone in three different paths! First, what if the Hulk had arrived at the intended destination of the Illuminati? Could this peaceful planet have tamed the savage Hulk? And then, what if Hulk died and his wife instead led the army against Earth?...

*This is a Sponsored Post*One thing about having your own website: you really have to have a digital camera. You can get by with a scanner and some clever work if you're good - especially if you are an artist and render a lot of your own stuff - but if you are serious about what you are doing, you have to have some form of digital camera to make real quality content.Whether a still camera, camcorder, or webcam, today's surfers demand more than the same old thing and without these essential tools, you simply won't be able to offer them what they desire! But there are so many other things to use digital cameras for, such as home decor. With digital picture frames, you can show off your digital photography to everyone simply by uploading into the unit or by removing the drive from your camera and plugging it into the frame. The Big Trial - Part 1
2007-10-01 21:45:00
Well, the big trial is over and I lost - so far... but let me give you The Rundown as to how Decatur County, TN, got these charges to stick: they didn't; they changed the charges yet again when I went into the courtroom this morning! They came up with some kind of 911 non-emergency call, where I told them that I would be up there in 5 minutes (to fill out a Child Protective Services report on the girl I had originally called on) and was listening to Slayer when I did it. I was listening to the song, Reborn, and I was singing along to it while I spoke, so the DA, Adam Jowers, started hammering home how I was singing about how I was going to "be reborn" and how that wasn't an emergency. What did I tell you about these little Southern towns and their churchy ways? The 911 records clearly indicate that I had called previously about child endangerment; the first officer on the stand clearly stated that he had been told that I had called earlier about a child endangerment situation; the D...

X-Men Endangered Species Rushing to Conclusion!
2007-09-27 20:53:00
I grew up on the X-Men. I had a subscription to The Uncanny X-Men for most of my school years and collected them all the way to issue #300. I have near-complete runs of X-Factor, New Mutants, and countless mini-series, one-offs, and other X-stuff. I got into them with the great Mutant Massacre cross-over and they are gearing-up for yet another massive X-crossover event (the first in 10 years)! I quit collecting X-Men years ago, but I have one nagging question:Whatever happened to Longshot?!This is an official Marvel press release:Beast has traveled the world—and peered into the future—to solve the mutant crisis in the red-hot Endangered Species ! As each new chapter has appeared in the back of X-Men, Uncanny X-Men and X-Factor, Beast has been unable to reverse the effects of M-Day, the event that left many mutants de-powered and has prevented further mutant births. Premieres: Bionic Woman, Money, Ghost Hunters
2007-09-27 05:23:00
So, the highly-tauted Bionic Woman premiered tonight and I will review it, but I want to catch the repeat Friday night on Sci-Fi before I do because... well, first impressions aren't everything with something like this and even though it wasn't bad, I honestly expected a little more. But I am going to catch the rerun Friday night before I make any final say.I also caught the premiere of Dirty, Sexy Money and that, I can safely say on one viewing, was really good! The characters were sharply-defined but not quite stereotyped, the dialogue and story was crisp, and the cast was pretty great. It relies heavily on music to achieve its effects and that works really well with the source material, giving the entire thing that dreamlike quality most of us associate with "The High Life," while keeping it grounded in the familiar with a lot of classic rock tunes we all know. A really good show that plays well on TV.Then I caught the season premiere of Ghost Hunters and even though I cove...

I'm not sure how many senior citizens we get here to The Rundown, but I know that at least some of our readers have parents who are senior citizens and they could always use more friends. Even if they aren't necessarily looking for a senior match, they can use this new senior dating site to find new people with whom they have other things in common, whatever those things may be.I remember my grandmother fell-in with several of her church members in the latter years of her life and they used to go do all sorts of things - restaurant outings, flea markets, movies - it helped her feel vibrant and alive when she really needed it. If you are a senior or know someone who is, make sure to check out this new site and see what you can get from it!
