The songs span much of Cohen's career, from his 1969 second album Songs from a Room to his 1984 album Various Positions (which Warnes sang on), and even two tracks from his then-unreleased album I'm Your Man. 2007-08-11 20:38:00 Delta Lady : The Rita Coolidge Anthology [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] Rita Coolidge releases have been very limited in the US. Her later recordings from the 80s and 90s (solo material) are discontinued or only issued in Japan. The US gets rehashed versions of the same hits. Finding the impending release of Delta Lady on Rita's website, Feb 10 couldn't get here fast enough. This 41 track double CD is sweetly remastered and is very noticible on the samples available to listen. My actual CD has yet to arrive, but I was totally impressed by the quality from the samples. Rita Coolidge has finally been done some justice in the US. It is an excellent collection with hits, album tracks, duets & movie songs. It is way overdue and most welcome. Once Rita fans wear this one out, we hope all her original albums are issued here in the US, along with those issued in Japan that did not get issued here. Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady wanted to explore their acoustic and blues roots which were originally featured as sets within Jefferson Airplane concerts. Originally Airplane drummer Joey Covington and vocalist Marty Balin performed with the band but subsequently left before the recording of Hot Tuna's first self titled lp. The first lp featured acoustic songs performed by Kaukonen and Casady aided by Chicago blues harpist Will Scarlett. The album recorded live features a number of blues covers like "Hestitation Blues", "Know You Rider" and "Winin' Boy Blues" along with the Kaukonen original "Mann's Fate". With the second album also recorded live the band featured some electric music aided by another Airplane member violinist Papa John Creach along with drummer Sammy Piazza. The line up then included Chris Wells and Mick Ryan as well as Dave Clark. Chris and Mick left and Dave Clark along with Mike Smith, Dennis Payton, Rick Huxley and Lenny Davidson formed the DC5. The reason for the formation of the Band was to raise funds for the Tottenham Hotspurs (Spurs) Football Club in London. The date was January 1962, the place The South Grove Youth Club, the result one of the best known and loved British Bands of the Sixties. One of their first attempts at releasing a single did not meet with the success that they had hoped.
