Let's start the new year with a website review of one of the newest movies coming out in 2008 - and one of the best websites so far this year - The Pirate s Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie. Veggie Pirates! Need we say more? The VeggieTales Movie Website is kid-friendly and adult and kid fun! One fun feature of the website is the "Talk Like A Pirate" link, clicking on it will pull up some of the movie's veggies, and they will give you tips on how to talk like a pirate - the words are spelled out phonetically so you get the pirate lingo just right, and there's even a button to press to hear the pirate phrase spoken like a pirate would! The Orphanage Movie Supernatural Horror Film

The supernatural drama, the Orphanage , has a website which is much less than supernatural or horrifying. You can catch up with the Teaser and Theatrical Trailers on the website, send an ECard (it's nothing special), and read about the movie (a little girl named Laura, finally gets to leave the Good Shepherd Orphanage, years later after she's grown up, she comes back to the now-closed orphange to reopen it as a center for the sick and disabled....). The only other feature - and probably best part of the website are the downloads - just the standard desktop wallpaper, orphanage AIM or Buddy Icons, and a couple of movie posters....at least there's something to do here, right? The website is actually kind of difficult to navigate, I finally figured out that once you get on a page in the orphanage website, the little orphans show up on the bottom left of the screen, this is the menu bar, just put your cursor over them and you can go do whatever other section of the site you want......

The new movie There Will Be Blood , set to be released on December 26, 2007 has not received very much publicity..in fact, when I visited the official movie website I had no idea what the movie was about. The movie website did help with figuring out what the movie was about - it gives a trailer of the There Will Be Blood movie, as well as a gallery of images from the movie, and a synopses of the movie's plot - about Daniel Plainview (played by Daniel Day Lewis ), a frontiersman who starts out as an oil miner, and works to become an oil tycoon. (FYI - the movie is inspired by the Upton Sinclair novel Oil!) If you like period movies - set on the frontier at the turn-of-the-century, the movie is going to appeal to you, especially as the trailer makes the movie look really good....but, as far as the There Will Be Blood movie website, the website does not have much to it. The movie website for The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep is good for finding out what the movie is about and for playing games. The games are the best part of the website - choose from 3 games - the best one is the Water Horse puzzle game...choose your difficulty, and then fit together the puzzle pieces to form a picture...a nice twist on this traditional game is that instead of having a still picture, you can choose to have a video!! This means the little puzzle pieces are moving with video instead of picture, really fun! Once the video is together, a trailer of the movie will run. The website of Charlie Wilson's War - an upcoming political movie starring Tom Hanks - is about how you expect politics to be - dry and boring! But there are a couple of interesting features on the website, including a link that says "Act Now", when you click on the link a screen pops up prompting you to enter your zip code to find your local Congressman , meant to inspire you to get involved and make a change. Sweeney Todd Demon Barber Killer Christmas with Mrs. Lovett!

One of the best features on the Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street website is the "Cut Your Own Trailer" feature (click the link right from the main Sweeney Todd page). I havent seen it done quite like this before....basically you can choose from different video clips, add in music, transitions, arrange everything the way you want, and create your own trailer for the movie. There's actually alot of functionality considering it is just done straight online - you can rearrange your clips in the timeline, edit clips to make them shorter, fade music out, and even change the videos to black and white, or other colors. The I Am Legend official movie site looks very promising when you first visit - the graphics are great, and you're greetd with a great picture of Will Smith walking through New York. At the site, you'll find alot of links, but unless you want to register for stuff, you won't spend much time at the site. There really isn't alot of chance to get involved without registering for something. If you're ready to get fully involved and start registering, you can sign up for a multiplayer game which takes place through the 3-D world Second Life (you'll find the link to sign up for Second Life off the main page, just click on the Navigation Link, then click on Survival Game. At the AVP-R (which stands for Alien s vs. Predator Requiem) official movie website, you'll see that this aliens/predator movie is aimed at worldwide fans - from the main page you have to start by choosing a language (no assumption here that this is just for English-speaking fans!). The Awake movie website is sorely lacking in any information besides a very very VERY! brief synopses of the movie, a few movie photos, and a trailer. What it does have alot of information on is the actor's biographies (Hayden Christensen, Jessica Alba , and Terrence Howard star in it). Basically, don't bother visiting the movie website, because you will NOT find movie wallpaper, AIM Icons or anything else fun on the website! (I almost gave it 0 of 5 stars...but hey, the movie makers DID actually put a website up, right? Awake is a psychological thriller about a patient whose anesthesia leaves him awake but paralyzed during surgery, a phenomenon known as "anesthetic awareness"....looks like it could be a really good movie! Cloverfield (aka 1-18-08) still won't be out until January 18, 2008, but the hype is growing. The Cloverfield website is also growing, but very slowly. Here's what I mean: on the Cloverfield website there are photos - and nothing else! A new photo is added approximately every week. And take note: you will not find a Cloverfield trailer, the synopses of what Cloverfield will be about, or any AIM icons, poster, or other downloads. No movie wallpaper either! You will not even find the names of actors, director, or producer (note - it is produced by JJ Abrams if you were wondering). So what's up with the website? At the Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium official movie website you'll find a synposes of the Mr. Magorium movie, which for those of you who haven't seen any trailers, is about the ancient owner (Dustin Hoffman) of a magical toy store who decides to retire and leaves the store to his manager Molly Mahoney (Natalie Portman). Beowulf - a two star website!

The Beowulf website is graphically beautiful (as I'm sure the movie will be), but does not have much else. The 2007 movie website (a legend about a mighty warrior named Beowulf who destroys the demon / monster Grendel (and thus angers Grendel's mother) and goes into battle) has lots of pictures and trailers from the movie, including a gallery with some nice pics, and a couple of trailers from the Beowulf movie. This is about as good as it gets though....and at first glance, it seems like there is going to be alot of other movie content to get you really psyched about the movie release, but alot of what they have just links you to other places. For example, there is a "Special Features" section with plenty of interesting links including Beowulf Comics, Beowulf Books, Beowulf 3D (the movie is going to be available in IMAX 3D), and Beowulf Toys...when you click on the links however you basically are just told that these Beowulf Items exist and directed to where you can buy them. ...

The new Saw IV movie is coming out in theaters just in time for Halloween. For those needing a synopses of where we are, the last Saw movie left us with the Jigsaw Killer and his apprentice Amanda dead. Does Jigsaw find more victims? Well, judging from the official movie website, Jigsaw is back. At the official Saw website you'll find the movie synopses and plot, movie stills, AIM icon downloads and trailers. On the Saw IV website there's also a "Personalize your own Jigsaw video" link. Put in your name and get a personalized message from Jigsaw, code is provided for you to post wherever you want, such as on myspace. That feature of the website is just OK.
