FunBrain - Feeling Lucky
2007-10-09 16:07:00 Ever use the "I'm Feeling Lucky " button on Google? Just for "FUN" that's just what I did. I did a search for the word fun with the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button and was brought to a sight called FunBrain. This is a fun site for families with lots of fun and educational opportunities for the kids. There is also an area for teachers to check out as well. So, for those teachers out there, and moms and dads with kids, check the site out and have some fun with the kids. Everyone else, head over to Google and search some simple word and see if you are feeling lucky.
Meet The 5 Year Old Blogger
2007-10-08 14:48:00 Well Sorta. Being Five is a comic strip about a 5 year old that communicates with the world through his blog that he "writes" using voice recognition software. The comic is good enough to see in just about any newspaper. Its a refreshing look at blogging from a different perspective. Be sure to check out the archives. The site has been around since April of 2006 so there are a few pages of strips to go through. Below is one of the more recent posted. More About: Blogger , Meet , Year
6 Reasons I Won't Own and Iphone
2007-10-07 15:50:00 In my hunt for stuff to put on this blog, I constantly run across the same things over and over again. The #1 product that pops up all the time is the I phone. Now I am not one of those people that runs out and grabs the latest and greatest gadget, but neither am I back in the stone age either so when something comes out, I have to put a lot of thought into the item before making a purchase. Many times it is to my advantage, and some times not. With the Iphone I have been putting a lot of thought into something that I am not even ready for anyway. First of all, my cell provider is not AT&T which should put an end to it right there. But why let that stop me. I read how people have figured out how to unlock it, get it to do things it was not intended to and the such and some of it is intriguing. But really do I want one? I keep coming up no. Here is why.I am happy with my provider (Verizon) and 90% of my friends and family have the same.I am harsh on my cell phones and don't want... More About: Reasons
Laporte Report
2007-10-06 16:38:00 What a day yesterday. I was messing around on Mybloglog, as I do when I noticed a new member. Leo Laporte had created an account. For those that don't know, Leo is an icon among icons in the Internet industry. He has interviewed the blogging greats that we all know such John Chow. I used to watch him and Soledad Obrien in the late 90s, and then followed him onto TechTV where he hosted Call for Help and co-hosted on The Screen Savers. G4 bought out TechTV a couple of years ago and all those great shows either changed or went away in the U.S. but Leo still works for G4TechTV in Canada. Long story short, in reminiscing, I went over to Leo's blog which is part of Leoville, which I haven't been to in a couple of years now and wanted to share these sites. Great place to find all kind of information. It was unfortunate when TechTV changed, we lost a lot of good programing here in the U.S. But the minds behind that programing live on like Leo. I could write a full length paper on a numbe... More About: Report
Don't Let The Name Fool You
2007-10-05 16:48:00 A lot of time can be spent wandering around a site known affectionately as The Pisstakers. It a blog that has been divided up into categories such as cartoons, video, news, or just quirky. The site is in your face humor but is still filled with insightful information delivered in a way only the pisstakers know how. Be sure to click on the site map on the left hand side which has a few gems that could get missed otherwise. As a proud member of the Mybloglog community, they like to give what in the blogging world is known as "a little link love" every Sunday to 11 members of the community that visited the page at the right time. A short review is written about the blogs and a link to them, again written in only a way they can. More About: Fool
Sick of Getting a Machine on the Phone?
2007-10-04 16:30:00 When I call a company and it goes directly into their automated system it is a pain, well you know where. Some times I would get so frustrated that I start mashing down buttons on the keypad. Jam 0 (zero) a few dozen times, or even the #(pound key). Once in a while these things worked, but usually it either got the line disconnected, or more automated voice telling me it did not understand my response or I hit the wrong key. Now, if I am calling a major company, I go to GetHuman.com and search through the list of companies which is listed in alphabetical order and grouped into a dozen categories such as Internet, Government, and Travel. Each company listed has the number to call, and the number sequence to push to get a human(used loosely for some of these places) on the phone. Some but not all local utility companies are listed but the site is updated from time to time, and was just updated recently. More About: Phone , Machine , Sick , Mach
Time for More Free Games
2007-10-03 15:26:00 Over at free online games dot com there are pages of games to play and as always, the best part is that they are free! I am hooked on the online version of Deal or No Deal right now. Ever wonder what you would do if you were in the shoes of the person on stage? Play the online version and risk it all with no consequences. After playing a few times, I realized that I am a lot more daring than I know I would be if the money was real. For you webmasters out there, the site also offers a slew of games that you can put the code on your site. They state that the games will work with websites, myspace, and even blogs. Ready for some Trivia?
2007-10-02 15:09:00 Over at PsychTests.com, there are a handful of Brain Teasers and Trivia Quizzes to keep one occupied for a little while at least. There are plenty of other tests on the site as well, but some require a membership, and some of those are not free. Membership is free, but the "premium" tests cost credits that have to be purchased, starting at $2.95 per credit but get cheaper when bought in larger quantities. Unlimited credits can be bought but they have an expiration date of 3 to 6 months after purchase. But really I am talking about the free quizzes and tests that can fill the void in the day such as a quiz on outer space, or famous faces. Not a bad place to hit if you have a little spare time. Pull Out the Dictionary
2007-10-01 15:11:00 If you are like me, you need to pull out the dictionary or thesaurus from time to time. Well, of course Merriam-Webster is available online. I have been using the site for years as a quick help when at work because of the speed of using a net based site compared to pulling out the 10 pound book. M-W is free, but there is also a pay version for those that need more than the free version offers, however with the free version offering a dictionary, thesaurus, Spanish to English, and now a medical dictionary I don't see needing the premium service packages for most people. The site also has a word of the day page which not only gives the definition, but uses it in a sentence, and a little did you know snippet about the word. Just for laughs
2007-09-24 16:34:00 There are a bunch of web pages and blogs out there that have jokes so it was hard to find just one that I thought worthy of recommending. Wallysjokemail.com is the one that I think is worth the visit. As of typing this, there is over 400+ posts of jokes on the blog just since January of this year. There are a few that I have seen before, but they are the good ones that you don't mind reading again and again. I hope you enjoy the blog as much as I do More About: Laugh

Meta Cafe is the Place to Be
2007-09-22 03:23:00 Everyone knows about youtube. But Meta Cafe is another great place to find some really cool videos. The difference? Many of the videos that are on MetaCafe are elidgible to make money. Yes thats right, you can make money with a video. It works like this. When you upload a video, you can opt into the "Producer's Awards". If accepted (the rules are simple and fair like no hatefull or harmfull material etc...), you recieve $5 for every 1000 views which is banked untill 20,000 views ($100) as long as your video ranks a 3.0 or higher on a 5 scale. After you reach 20k views, they will cut you a check in the next month based on what you earned. Sounds simple doesn't it? I think so, that is why Bordem Relief has uploaded a pumpkin carving video in time for Halloween. Take a look at my first attempt at making a video and leave a comment there or here on what you think. If all goes well, you may see more added by me.Here is last years pumpkin we did. Beer!
2007-09-21 15:25:00 Does the title need to beer err be more specific? The Internet is a plethora of knowledge on the subject, you can find everything from how to build your own kegerator to how to brew your own. With Oktoberfest officially starting tomorrow (September 22) this post just seemed the perfect one for today. Can't afford to go to the 174th celebration in Munich? Just Google Oktoberfest and the city/state you are in and there is a good chance that you will find a party near you. You may even want to add the year to weed out many of the stale beer party's of years past. More About: Beer
Why Not A Blog That Lies
2007-09-20 16:00:00 I would say there are a lot of blogs that lie, but A Blog That Lies comes right out and tells you up front. For those of you who may be a fan of The Onion, you will enjoy A Blog That Lies. The posts are hilarious with a new post just about every day. Smells Like The Onion to Me
2007-09-19 15:10:00 Another old stand by when it comes to favorite places to visit when bored at work has to be The Onion . I have been reading this online faux "newspaper" for years. The stories are very imaginative, and every section of a ordinary newspaper is covered in an anything but ordinary way. The O nion has even branched out with video news that can be accessed through the site as well. Have to love the logo. The onion is published every Wednesday, and for those who prefer the paper version (maybe for some light reading in a room with no computer) for under $40 U.S. (prices higher for non U.S addresses) you can have 52 weeks of the paper delivered to your house.

Offer of The Day
2007-09-17 17:48:00 Offer of the Day or OTD for short, is, well, I am not sure just what it is exactly. But one thing I do know is that its a great site to visit when you have nothing better to do. They list one thing per day (well if they do anything that day) that you can buy from someone else. I will let you be the judge of the quality and usefulness of the items yourself. There is a resemblance to another site, one that I blogged about on my very first post actually. If you like the item listed for the day, check out the archives and see what else that has been listed. It shouldn't take to long being the archives only go back to August 20th. If you decide to purchase something, come back and let me know about it. More About: The D , Offer
Time to Play in the Sand
2007-09-17 00:16:00 This site is one of those mind numbing, just have fun and see what happens little games that can keep anyone occupied for a long time if they want it. Named Sand , I call it a game reluctantly because there really isn't any goal. If the entire screen does not fit on you monitor, scroll down so you can see the "options" at the bottom of the game. Play around with what is there and soon you will find yourself making all kinds of creations. Only word to describe this site is "fun". More About: Time
Its Quiz Time!
2007-09-15 01:05:00 The folks over at ZipperFish have a collection of quizzes to chose from. While most of them are benign, I would classify the boobs, butt, or shoulder ones as NSFW ("not safe for work" for those who may not know what it meant. Some of the quizzes even have the code for those who may want to add them to their own blog or myspace page. Below is my X-men quiz results. More About: Quiz , Time
Why Use FireFox
2007-09-14 14:53:00 Firefox has been gaining ground lately, and I have to admit I run both Firefox and Internet Explorer. The question to ask is why Firefox? Well there are some good reasons, and they none are of them are because you hate Microsoft (ok for some of you maybe it is). Here are my reasons for using Firefox, especially when searching around sites that I am not familiar with. The tabbed browsing works better than I.E. 7 Better pop up blockerMore privacy controlsStops web page tricks such as spoof addressesMore customizable toolbar (I.E. went the wrong direction with 7 if you ask me)Cool plug-ins available (such as the one to download videos from sites like youtube)Updates come out quicker than for I.E. Free Flight Simulator - Thanks Google
2007-09-13 14:26:00 If you have Google Earth 4.2 installed on your computer, you can play a free flight simulator by clicking CTRL-ALT-A from within the program. I have to give a thanks to googletutor.com where I found out about this. There you will find there a few good pictures on the flight simulator along with a link to a help page on how to control your plane using the keyboard. Yet another great way to smash the boredom bug, but remember, you have to have version 4.2 of Google Earth. This will not work with earlier versions (I tried with 4.0 and nothing happened). Have you seen Blog Elf's Hat?
2007-09-13 04:51:00 Apparently, someone has taken Blog Elf's favorite hat. This is not the first item to have gone missing of his recently. In going through my vacation photo's from the last week I did come across a picture that looks suspicious. I do not remember the Gnome being on top of the Empire State Building when I took the picture. To make matters worse, there are reports that Rudolph's missing and possibly deernapped. For more information on the whereabouts of Rudolph, or if you have any information, you can report at Santa's Comunity Blog. As for my picture, I will report this to the proper authorities as well.
Where Are We Going for Dinner?
2007-09-12 15:03:00 Tough question some times. In today's society, we eat away from the house more than we eat at home anymore. Experts blame it on busy life styles, but sometimes it has nothing to do with that. Just look in the fridge and you can see why its time to go out to dinner! I don't do leftovers. Anyway, going out to eat can be a costly adventure especially when we do it as often as we do today. That's where restaurant.com comes in. They offer gift certificates at a reduced rate. A $25 dollar certificate may only cost $10 for example. These certificates are great for gifts, or just to treat yourself to a nice night out. We personally find the site helpful when researching restaurants for when we are on our vacations. Find great places to eat, and already have a portion of the meal covered before the vacation starts! All you need to know is the zip code of the area you want to search. More About: Dinner , Going , Goin
Need Closet Space? Check this Ad
2007-09-11 15:05:00 I was in New York City this past week and spotted this advertisement. It was discussed on a local radio show here in Phoenix earlier this summer so it caught my eye pretty quickly. I guess that closet space is limited in Manhattan, and this local storage company has come up with some provocative slogans in their ad campaigns. What do you think?
