Popular Medical Myths
2008-01-29 20:23:00 Physicians understand that practicing good medicine requires the constant acquisition of new knowledge, though they often assume their existing medical beliefs do not need re-examination. These medical myths are a light hearted reminder that we can be wrong and need to question what other falsehoods we unwittingly propagate as we practice medicine. We generated a list of common medical or medicine related beliefs espoused by physicians and the general public, based on statements we had heard endorsed on multiple occasions and thought were true or might be true. We selected seven for critical review: • People should drink at least eight glasses of water a day • We use only 10% of our brains • Hair and fingernails continue to grow after death • Shaving hair causes it to grow back faster, darker, or coarser • Reading in dim light ruins your eyesight • Eating turkey makes people especially drowsy • Mobile phones create considerable electromagne... Video - Daft Punk Dance - Harder Better Faster Stronger
2008-01-27 17:50:00 Daft Punk is one weird group. I never thought I could like their music until I saw these videos. The first one is a very creative display of the song. The second one is just pure talent. I like the second video a lot. The next one is by the same "Daft Punk Girl", Music Group: Justice, Song: Phantom. Would be quite amazing to be able to dance like that in dancing occasions, like clubs and even weddings. More About: Video , Videos , Dance

Blogs - Updated to MT 4.1
2008-01-27 12:48:00 Just updated to Movable Type 4.1 from 4.0b2. I manually configured MT's interface with css styling, so each new version comes with a couple of hours re-editing the css file. Expect to have some broken plugins, but none of which seems to affect the main functionality of this blog, so it's all good and sound now. More About: Blogs

Blog popularity
2008-01-19 06:28:00 It's surprising that some of my posts have generated lots of hits. The one about Ms. Green is incredibly popular and many other ones showed up on top 5-10 google searches hours after I made the entry. Quite interesting. That makes me think that making a popular site isn't difficult at all. All you need is fresh content and visitors will automatically show up. Unfortunately, I'm not looking to make my site popular at all simply because time is an issue and I prefer not to write in a diplomatic manner. Nevertheless, good to know about it. Good to know that if I want to, I could, but of course, I wouldn't because I shouldn't. More About: Blog , Popularity

The Google generation
2008-01-18 19:24:00 Face it. Our current generation is much better at technology than our parents'. I often don't quite understand how slow could the elders be in understanding the concept of advanced technology. I tried to explain to my parents the simplest method to project a high definition divx movies to the external TV screen from any online video source, but after multiple failed attempts, I realized the task is a lot more daunting than I anticipated. And so I thought I was good until I went on Facebook. Then it hits me that I might experiencing the early symptoms of technology illiteracy. Ten years ago, I was one of those entrepreneurs developing IRC bots, chat rooms, forums, and various applications online. I had one of the smallest ICQ numbers one could possibly has, 2498270, suggesting that I was quite an early bird when it comes virtual communication. Nevertheless, the next generation is now using Facebook, Myspace, Bebo, and other social networks that made me raised my eyebrows, huh? Wit... Rules of life you wish you were taught
2008-01-18 01:56:00 Rules Kids Won't Learn in School Rule #1. Life is not fair. Get used to it. The average teenager uses the phrase "it's not fair" 8.6 times a day. You got it from your parents, who said it so often you decided they must be the most idealistic generation ever. When they started hearing it from their own kids, they realized Rule #1. Rule #2. The real world won't care as much about your self-esteem as your school does. It'll expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself. This may come as a shock. Usually, when inflated self-esteem meets reality, kids complain that it's not fair. (See Rule No. 1) Rule #3. Sorry, you won't make $50,000 a year right out of high school. And you won't be a vice president or have a car phone either. You may even have to wear a uniform that doesn't have a Gap label. Continue reading » More About: Humor , Lifestyle , Rules , Psychology

Video - Ms. Green, my teacher is on youtube
2008-01-17 06:23:00 The attractive Ms. Sarah Green was suspended from teaching at a private school after her students found her hot commercial on youtube. The ad is a short promotional film for a firm which makes clothing for construction workers, featuring her as a secretary who is seduced by a builder. She made this video 2 years before she accepted the job at her school. Though her students got quite an amusing story to gossip, their parents were furious. The school counsel decided to suspend her in light of the controversy. My thought What's the fuss? She made the video before she accepted the job offer. It's her private life. She's hot, amazingly hot and that was a legitimate ad, featuring no sex, no nude scene, an ad which won the best ad award in 2005. What she did was simply fulfilling her role as an actress. That's how stupid this world has become, suspending someone for inappropriate reason. I think the students were quite lucky to have such a hot teacher. If I have such a teacher, my... News - Man Found Wife at a Brothel
2008-01-10 10:24:00 WARSAW (Reuters) - A Polish man got the shock of his life when he visited a brothel and spotted his wife among the establishment's employees. Polish tabloid Super Express said the woman had been making some extra money on the side while telling her husband she worked at a store in a nearby town. "I was dumfounded. I thought I was dreaming," the husband told the newspaper. The couple, married for 14 years, are now divorcing, the newspaper reported. Couple psychotheray ain't going to help, but this issue creates a good divorce mentality, with both feeling that the other is at fault, "you're the one who did it." Some divorces are better than others. On one side, the wife is making money out of her hobby, so that her man could use it for his own hobby. Gist of the story is that. Woman rules, but man is what woman needs. Wait, or is it the other way around? More About: News , Wife

How Many Five Year Olds Could You Take in a Fight?
2007-12-15 07:50:00 27 Hurrah. I can take on a five-year-old. Heheh, this is so wrong. Who thought of such horrible quizzes and who actually took them? Heheh But with 27, I can now be confident going into an elementary classroom. Let them know who's the boss. Oh boy, from a pro at digg: Spamcan: I got 28 but I think that's a bit low. It'd be pretty easy to knock a kid out and swing them around your head like a dead cat eventually knocking out like at least 6 kids. Once they're on the ground it's fairly easy to snap their necks, and kids are pretty dumb so I'm willing to bet I could get away with that at least twice before I had to switch tactics and start backing them against a wall and taking them out with carefully timed elbow thrusts and nut kicks. I'm guessing I could take out at least 25 of the little fuckers before I even broke a sweat, and probably end up with a total kill count around 40 or so. 1500-3000 Free Full CD Albums - OMFG
More articles from this author:2007-12-12 10:59:00 OMG, Just as I finished downloading a total of 30 GBs worth of chinese mp3s (about 500 albums total), I found another source containing possibly all the vnese albums in the past 30 years, totaling around 1500-3000 albums. OMFG. Wow. I'm not too fond of vnese music, so I'll get all of that when I have time. This is crazy. I've also put around 12 GBs of vnese and english mp3s into my mp3 player and it's been great. There are so many songs I haven't heard even though I have them in my hard drive for >10 years. The use of mp3 player is great, allowing me to listen to all the new interesting songs that I wouldn't have listened to them otherwise, because of my slow computer and the inconvenience of turning on winamp everytime. Next year, I will put them all online as well, making my own collection. More About: Music , Free , Albums , Full 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 |
