Welcome movie review-An unwelcome proposition

Welcome may be a hit but that is purely due to the goodwill that Akshay Kumar has enjoyed in the year 2007. Aneez Bazmee?s previous movie No Entry was the biggest hit of 2005 and he decided to do an encore two years later by releasing this movie at the end of the year. Sadly, the movie has nothing new to offer, the humor though situational is insipid and the characterizations are pale. Story: What story? Anyway if you want me to narrate to you an excuse of a story..here it goes. Dr.Ghungroo(Paresh Rawal) who gets slapped around is looking for a bride for his nephew Rajiv(Akshay Kumar). At the same time, Uday Shetty(Nana Patekar) and Majnoobhai(Anil Kapoor) are looking for a prospective husband with a non-criminal background for their sister. Man meets woman (sorry I can?t say boy meets girl for Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif) and they fall in love. Let us give it upto the newest and the youngest star of Bollywood-Darsheel Safari. The ten year old actor has performed like a veteran in the flavor of the year Taare Zameen Par. Review of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal ?s main fault is that it arrived after Chak de. So it gives you a déjà vu feeling. There is not much you can do with a sport subject. You have no other option but to show the underdog getting it right in the finale. In the beginning you can show feelings of aspiration, remorse, frustration, despair only to change into joy and triumph in the end. That is what Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal does. Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal plays to the field but unfortunately it deviates from its main course (some thing which Chak de never did) and goes astray. There are some flaws which stick out like sore thumbs in Goal. I saw Om Shanti Om and Sawaariya on the Diwali Day. This weekend was probably the hottest for Bollywood fans because it had arguably the best director of India pitted against the biggest star of India.On the first day, reports started pouring in about both the two high profile movies. The Mumbai Mirror carried the movie reviews as front page news! It gave an unflattering two diyas (read stars) to Saawariya and three diyas (read stars, of course!) to Om Shanti Om.
