Last year, the Times Colonist told readers about a government bureaucrat with at least two different identities, whose behaviour has left officials wondering how he got the job. This week the headlines are about a former Saanich reserve cop, who is also a former Vancouver Island Health Authority employee and University of Victoria instructor, whose bewildering number of degrees at such a young age has led to fraud charges. Two cases aren't exactly an epidemic of questionable resumé-writing. But it's enough to make you wonder. And it's left me feeling a bit antsy. There are various reviews underway into the first case. A report is expected later this month. People are looking forward to learning how a man with an earlier conviction for identity fraud landed a management gig with the B.C. government.
