2007-11-17 21:08:00
Yay! It’s the seventh edition of Feminism at its Finest ! ispf presents Guide to Hiring Women! This post, posted at Grad Money Matters, features an actual guide to hiring women in 1943, according to (then) Transportation Magazine. The (now) legendary, Madeleine Begun Kane presents Vive La (Brain) Différence!, a great poem celebrating the differences in male and female brains. This, and much, much more can be foun at Mad Kane’s Humor Blog. Heather Juma, a fabulous friend and colleague of mine presents Prince Charming Isn’t Coming, a kick ass post about women going out and making the lives, businesses, and futures they want instead of relying on their boyfriend or husband, or even relying on the hope that a boyfriend or husband may enter their lives. Check out her blog, at GWN Lifestyle. Marcella Chester, of the great site, abyss2hope: A rape survivor’s zigzag journey into the open, presents Anti-Feminism And Rape. Christine, of Me, My Kid and Life: An American...

Saudi Arabia: Next War Zone?
2007-11-17 02:40:00
In the ultra-conservative kingdom of Saudi Arabia , a 19-year-old female victim of gang rape was sentenced to six months in jail as well as 200 lashes. In the first ruling of the case, the woman was ordered to undergo 90 lashes. However, in a new verdict, issued due to Saudi Arabia ’s Higher Judicial Council issuing a retrial, the court in the eastern town of Al-Qatif more than doubled her sentence because they found that she was in the same car of a male who was not related to her at the time of her rape as well as “[attempting] to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.” In addition to the sentence given to the woman, the six armed rapists were issued two to nine years in prison, and the woman’s lawyer, Abdul Rahman al-Lahem, was also forbidden to continue practicing law due to challenging the verdict that was already issued. Wahhabism, a strict Islamic doctrine, forbids men and woman who are not related to associate with each other and also ...

America: The Country That Kills It?s Citizens
2007-11-12 15:35:00
I recently watched Michael Moore’s new movie, Sicko, and I have to say–It’s better than Fahrenheit 9/11, which is a very bold statement, to say the very least. Universal Health care. What sends chills down the spines of Republicans everywhere, but what could ultimately make the United States a more respected country–A country that takes ...

The Sixth Edition of Feminism at its Finest
2007-11-11 06:51:00
The sixth edition is a little late this week, but hey, when life beckons… Because of the amount of submissions Feminism at its Finest has received in the last week, I have decided to keep this carnival a weekly thing. Also, this decision is not based solely on the amount of submissions received. With much ...

Was There Ever Any Doubt?
2007-11-07 18:05:00
You Are 100% Feminist You are a total feminist. This doesn’t mean you’re a man hater (in fact, you may be a man). You just think that men and women should be treated equally. It’s a simple idea but somehow complicated for the world to put into action. Are You a Feminist? In the throws of boredom, laziness, and ...

Alzheimer’s is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain’s nerve cells resulting in loss of memory, thinking, language skills, and also causes behavioral changes. I Am Emily X
2007-11-05 01:25:00
From September 26-November 4, anti-choice groups and protesters have been picketing outside of Planned Parenthood health clinics. The reason for this is because of what is called the “40 Days of Harassment”–Oh wait, Life? “40 Days for Life?” Woops, so easy to get confused. So, due to what anti-choice groups and protesters call “40 Days ...

The Hungover Edition of Feminism at its Finest
2007-11-03 14:41:00
You can definitely acknowledge a webmaster’s dedication when they are up at 9AM, hungover from their 21st birthday, and posting their weekly blog carnival. There weren’t many contributions this week and since this carnival is usually hit or miss, I have been thinking about changing this carnival from a weekly compilation of fabulous blog posts ...

LOL Fetus?
2007-10-29 15:17:00
As some may know, since I never did keep it a big secret, I live in the very dull and dreary town of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Nothing really ever happens here, where there is at least one bar and one church on every street, but there are very small things that make me happy to live ...

Frustration of the Struggling Poet
2007-10-28 05:10:00
A few days ago, I mentioned submitting poetry to the upcoming Girl Child Press anthology. Of course, just when I think about my submission again, and poetry in general, since it’s been months since I’ve even looked over my work, life threw one of those frustrating and humbling curve balls. Rejection, with all people, should be ...

2007-10-26 01:41:00
As some may have noticed, my poetry and articles have returned to the website. I took them down a few months ago, with the impression that I was going to revamp the look and make it a bit more easier to navigate. After trying a few things, I realized that nothing looked just right to ...

Fun with My Google Adsense
2007-10-23 13:57:00
Whenever looking at this site, I always find myself going through the ads Google has deemed as appropriate for my website. As most know, most of the time Google comes up with some rather interesting ads to display, sometimes having nothing to do with the content on your website. You write a post on abortion ...

Love Your Body
2007-10-20 03:22:00
Love Your Body Day 2007 was yesterday. At first, I wasn’t going to write about this because I figured “Oh well, I’m a day late (as per usual, I really need to get on the ball when it comes to keeping up on current events) there’s a lot of other things I could write about. ...

Why are Atheists So Angry?
2007-10-18 15:08:00
And for a little more nontheistic thought… Sarai sent me the following link. She often does that; in fact, every time I have the distinct pleasure of speaking with her, it’s like a gift-giving holiday for me. It’s link after link pure Holly-related goodness. But this link was unlike most I’ve received. This link was an atheist ...

The Truth About Planned Parenthood
2007-10-13 07:18:00
In early September, I wrote about Aurora, Illinois, and the Planned Parent hood clinic that was causing anti-abortion activists to come out in droves to deter it from opening. Again, earlier this month, I wrote about the success the clinic had with opening in Aurora. On both posts, I received negative comments or emails about how ...

Wow, have I been busy! The lack of updates here, as well as over at Woman Tribune can be blamed on an array of different life-living activities. Throughout my entire life, I have always been a night owl. In high school, I would stay up all night writing and before I knew it, it was time ...

Halloween Costumes Glorifying Eating Disorders
2007-10-05 05:20:00
With October upon us, houses are decorated in ghoulish décor, and Halloween candy, decorations, and costumes line the aisles of department stores. Success for Planned Parenthood in Aurora
2007-10-02 07:49:00

MyWallSt: Social Networking For Investors
2007-09-27 11:38:00

Minorities Are Not ?Normal? People
