It?s probably something you won?t be very fond of since it?s not the typical summer bag choice, but anyway, that?s my decision for a review. What I like about this bag is what I like about every big bag ? there?s nothing you can?t carry in it. It?s practical and at the same time fashionable. And what I specifically like in the model is the small handle. The way it?s narrowed on the top brings me back in time. It looks like an old fashioned travel bag, but at the same time it has the today?s modern look. As I said it?s not the perfect choice for the summer season and I certainly don?t see it in combination with fairy summer dresses or shorts, or even summer suits, but it?s charming and great looking and something I can?t just pass by and not review. I love Guerlain fragrances, but I said to myself that, if I were to make Après L'Ondée today, it would be much lighter, airier, younger. Some pieces I wouldn't use. So Paris started as an imagined Après L'Ondée. Obviously, in Après L'Ondée, you don't have roses in the background, but I had the skeleton of a very creamy violet note. Then I worked on the rose to put with it. That's perfumer Sophia Grojsman talking about the genesis of Yves Saint Laurent Paris (from Michael Edwards' Perfume Legends: French feminine fragrances, p. 200), her first fragrance. Paris debuted in 1983, and was the perfect fragrance for the time: I wore it, my mother wore it, some days it seemed like everyone wore it (and plenty of it, more about which below). I was having a lovely stroll in a nearby park, and as I meandered under the cover of some stately trees, a fresh and sweetly honeyed-green fragrance surrounded me, blending with the dappled late afternoon sunlight and the grounding scent of warm scuffed earth and stone. I later discovered that this was the well known linden blossom, lime blossom, or tilleul. It fast became a favorite of mine, particularly in home fragrances and body products. Quietly refreshing, its limber green structure is interwoven with a hint of tang and a gentle airy sweetness. In home fragrances in particular, I find it has a charm that is both elegant and fresh. Can?t go without them

So the almighty sneakers come to the rescue again. I know I?ve written a couple of sneakers reviews already, but there?s always something else to be said. And there are so many different models out there that I just can?t get enough. So now with this review I?m paying special attention to all the guys. The subject: what I wish I'd known when I started out with perfume. Part 2 is coming next week, and I'm hoping all you Stage Four and Stage Five perfume addicts will add some advice of your own in the comments. After you've smelled 100 fragrances, you'll have a hard time keeping them all straight. It took me a good long while to start keeping notes. When I finally did, I wrote my notes in a little bound notebook. Um, duh! If you're going to smell 100, there's a good chance you're going to smell 500 or 1500, and pretty soon that little notebook is going to be useless. I'm amazed at how long it took me to start keeping my notes on the computer. I now use a table in Microsoft Word (with headings for Perfume House, Fragrance Name, Notes, and Rating), but you could use almost any word processing or spreadsheet software. My notes a...
