Pot Calling The Kettle...Rainbow?
2008-04-30 21:29:00
I feel like maybe I misjudged gay "celebrity" Reichen when I bashed him and Lance for popping up all over the tabs...not because they were contributing to society...so much as they are gay and Lance used to be a back up signer in Justin Timberlake's band.As any sane person in the spot light knows, the best way to handle personal and upsetting issues (like his latest break up with model Ryan Barry), is via your MySpace...or if you're Marc Jacobs and Jason Preston, Facebook. Reichen has recently changed his MySpace status to "single" and he changed his headline (previously probably some lame Rent or Will & Grace quote) to read "ou Shady Lying Sack of Shit. You?re BEYOND Gross. What an Idiot I Have Been!"Reichen goes on to share his romance tips:"Never believe them when they say they?re in love with you.Never believe them when they tell you where their heart is.Never believe them when they say they?re only going to sleep with you, especially when there is a social climbing opportunit...

Happy Hump Day!
2008-04-30 18:24:00
OK...so you'll notice one thing missing: the conventionally hot dude that's usually attached to these posts. As my attempt at progressing towards becoming a less shallow individual, I've decided to stop propping models and gym rats onto pedestals, as if genetics were something we should waste our time envying. I'm also trying to help the gay community in being a demonstration that there's more to being a gay man in this world than taking part in the hyper-sexualization of our society. Over the years I've been studying Kabbalah, I've met my run-in's with people who "knew" me and gave me flack for taking such drastic changes; labeling me crazy, overly dramatic, or just plain indecisive. I wont go off an a whole Kabbalistic rant during a Hump Day post...suffice it to say if we always stay within the lines of societal norms, we'll never grow as individuals. So say goodbye to the hot dudes. So in place of my hot dude display...I will be placing obscure videos I find on Youtube, t...

Generation X: Tales From An Accelerated Culture
2008-04-29 19:35:00
I love Douglas Coupland. I've read almost all of his books and loved each one of them. It was only a matter of time before I finally got to 'Generation X'...and I'd have to say I'm disappointed. I mean, it's still the same, insightful Coupland wit that has driven all his other books, but I found it to be too pretentious and condescending. Coupland's social criticism, while always sharp, still managed to walk the fine line between snobby and vulnerable. This time around, the three main characters, Andy, Dag, and Claire spent the entire time on their high horses looking down at the rest of the world as they decide to spend their lives out of "normal civilization" by living in the Mojave desert. Unlike other Coupland books, I was sad to see so little effort given to character development for the trio of desert dwellers, as most of the book revolves around their story telling. Three pretentious Gen X-er's who have nothing better to do than lay around the pool of their condo's, ...

Netflix Review In A Minute: A Streetcar Named Desire
2008-04-28 17:09:00
If I'm sure of anything in my life, it's that Blanche DuBois is the "Carrie Bradshaw" of the Tennessee Williams' world. An older, neurotic, self-absorbed woman who manages to turn other people's problems to be about herself and still mentally envisions she's younger than she really is. Unfortunately, even though I was a theater major, I never actually read or was familiar with the play...except for Stanly's pop culture phenomenon of yelling "Stella! Stella!". After watching the film, I looked it up on Wikipedia just to see the changes that were made from play to film, and some of them were rather shocking.Having watched the film, I actually grew to understand Stanly's rage at the nut job Blanche's lies. Apparently, their final confrontation ends with Stanly raping Blanche. The film completely cut that out for a less dramatic mirror shattering and no mention of a rape. Also, the reason Blanche's husband killed himself was because he was secretly gay...another note left out o...

Well...last night I finally got to watch the latest Michael Moore film and once again, I feel like he knocked it out of the park. Now, I am fully aware of how controversial this film is and I'm also aware Moore set out with his own agenda. People claimed that he exaggerated parts, cherry picked facts, and even blatantly lied in some places. Ignoring all the facts and numbers Moore presented, you can't ignore the health crisis in America. How lobbyists are running the country. Hospitals dumping disoriented patients on the street. Cancer treatments being denied because they're still "experimental". The good people over at our insurance companies would rather save money, than your life. People in third world countries are getting better health care than we are.The whole "plot" of the documentary really revolved around socialized health care. A concept that the rest of the world has jumped on, but the U.S. government forced scare tactics on it's people...a little thanks to Richard N...

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up
2008-04-28 03:34:00
Sometimes what we argue about is what brings us together.I read that on a movie poster. Genius. It totally captures the energy of the coming week. Let's face it, we all have mothers, brothers, friends, colleagues who we?how do I say this politely?we can't stand. Just being in the same room with them sends us into an emotional tizzy. The Ari reveals an amazing secret about this. He says the people we hate the most come from the same soul root as we do. It is written that all of humanity comes from the soul of Adam; we are each correcting a different part of his ?original sin.'Some of us come from the heel, some from the head, some from the heart. When we share a root soul with someone, it means we have come alive to correct similar attributes. Those of us from the head might be working on being more spiritual and less analytical, those of us from the heart might be working on having more love and compassion, those of us from the heel might be working on addiction and destructive re...

My New Hobby
2008-04-24 23:17:00
I've found a new outlet for my creative juices. I'll be going through my friends, making photos for each of them. The photos emulated will probably surround some kind of inside joke...or if you're really my friend...we don't have inside jokes because we share too much publicly. First on my list was my friend Bridget. Whenever I think of the movie, I can't help but remember all the times Bridget and I mocked it...specifically bordering on racist as we quoted "a story like mine, has never been told". Good times. :)

Netflix Review In A Minute: The Hitcher
2008-04-24 21:19:00
Well. Another crappy psychological/horror film....though I can't really say it falls into the category of "psychological"....I merely state "psychological" because whoever approved this script for filming should be psychologically evaluated. We follow two twenty-something-year-olds as they head to a friend's cabin for spring break shenanigans. On the way, they meet John Ryder...who for the rest of the film will be chasing them, killing cops and disappearing, and then chasing again. When the young man, Jim asked Ryder why he's doing all of this...his response was "you should know why"....and that was that. WTF? The movie ends, and basically all we know is that Ryder goes around killing people and he has no real identity, at least in the FBI data base. So is he really a ghost? He can't be, if he has to dislocate his own thumb to escape handcuffs. Are we really to believe that after all these abandoned cars...with dead bodies in them...that cops wouldn't at some point get suspiciou...

Happy Hump Day!
2008-04-23 19:21:00
Well another glorious Hump Day is upon us. As you well know, I spent my weekend in Pittsburgh, and as you can tell from the pictures, I did absolutely nothing. It was fantastic. So unfortunately for you I don't really have much to dirt to dish. I will say this, however, I flew in to JFK and I will never be making that mistake again. It's in the middle of no where and it takes forever to get back to Astoria. I didn't have much of an option though seeing as how the only flights in to LaGuardia were too early in the morning or too late at night.Work is kind of winding down on the stress level, but hopefully something interesting will pick back up soon. Nothing planned this weekend, so far. I believe I have some tattoo touch ups, but that's about it. This week's treat is John Strand. Please click HERE if you're looking for more pics of the lad.Alright, that's it for me. Have a good rest of the week!xo

Movie Review: Saw IV
2008-04-23 18:33:00
Well...what a waste of time. I liked the movie for it's overall tying up of loose ends (Jigsaw's beginning & what happened to Detective Matthews)...but I can't really say it's in the same caliber of the last three films. Also, nothing is ever brought to light on the first Saw movie's victim Dr. Lawrence Gordon's fate. They never say he died...but due to the actor suing the production company...maybe that's why they were hesitant to write his character back in. In true horror film tradition, the series will continue to be butchered, as checking IMDB has led me to find out that Saw V is currently being filmed. This film focuses primarily on Lt. Rigg and FBI agents Strahm and Perez. Rigg serves as a cop among a number of officers/detectives that fell victim to Jigsaw...and thus he becomes somewhat of a suspect after it's determined that psycho bitch Amanda (died in Saw III) could not have done all of Jigsaw's grunt work alone. Jigsaw (now dead) has his new protege put Rigg in a...

Ashlee Simpson's "Bittersweet World" - First Listen
2008-04-23 17:50:00
I swore I wouldn't pay for this album...and I didn't. I downloaded it. God bless P2P sharing. I bought her last album...which was fairly entertaining, but kind of fell flat in my opinion. I'm always amused when young starlets come out of Hollywood and sit in their million dollar mansions and write about how hard it is to be them. I remember when Ashlee started out, her role model was Courtney Love. Now she's rocking a new nose and chin and a homosexual future husband. While I can't say she's a good role model, in this third album she attempts to sell herself out by going even more poppy and releasing these Timbaland inspired tracks...which I'm all for. 1. Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya): Kind of Bangles-meets-Bar Mitzvah karaoke performance in 1982. I actually kind of like the track. Not originally, but it's grown on me. The chorus is what brings it home. I can picture the countless 14 year-old girl sleepovers rocking to this.2. Boys: Ashlee said in an interview she thinks the gays...

If it weren't for Google...I would've definitely forgotten...but happy Earth day anyway! I don't really know what it's about...but I remember back in elementary school we'd get tiny trees to go plant in our back yard....and then subsequently be ripped out by fast winds.....or was that arbor day. Um....well..either way, you can rest assured that somewhere in the world right now, Al Gore and Leo DiCaprio are splitting a Diet Coke while they discuss the planet's doom....while getting Brazilian bikini waxes.

Water Cooler Moment: Gossip Girl
2008-04-22 18:16:00
OK...against my better judgment of promising never to watch the show again, I found myself sitting through last night's entire episode of post-writer's strike, Gossip Girl . I couldn't help it. I watch the CW11 a lot for the morning news and late night syndicated TV shows...so I'm subject to their incessant advertising for the show. Also, the popular OMG and the later banned OMFG viral promotion is everywhere on the blogs I read. So I cracked.First off...where the hell is the big gay announcement? Did I, along with the rest of the world, fall victim to clever gossip dropping just to boost a shows ratings? I have no doubt there will be a gay reveal, but the producers definitely wanted to string out the interest in the reveal a little longer. I have no doubt that it's Serena's gay-faced brother Eric...and I will bet ever further that the reveal happens as he tries to make a pass at Chuck...his new best friend/ likely future unrequited love interest.Jenny finally got bit in the as...

Madonna's "Hard Candy" - First Listen
2008-04-22 16:23:00
OK....so there have been many leaked songs from this album, that it was only a matter of time before the whole thing appeared on the internet. I still plan on buying the physical album when it drops next week, but I had to cure my lust for new music...so this digital album will finally satisfy me. So here's a little review of each track as I listen to it for the first time (sans Candy Shop, 4 Minutes, and Beat Goes On).1. Candy Shop: Aaand we're off. It sounds exactly like the leaked version. I wish it had changed at some point before the release, but it's still a catchy song. I remember when Madge had a listening party for this and she really wanted this song to be the first single, but people didn't respond as favorably to the song as she had wanted. I like the end with Pharrell...I'd be his "gummy little kid" anytime. 2. 4 Minutes: I'm still under the impression that I'm the only one who loves this song. Either that, or fans are too busy hitting repeat to write about...bec...

Water Cooler Moment: Brothers & Sisters
2008-04-21 17:15:00
"Kitty and Robert make a life altering decision when the Presidential race takes a dramatic turn. Meanwhile, the Walker siblings are shocked by Nora's reaction to a surprise proposal from Isaac, and Rebecca further investigates the identity of her father." [SOURCE]Well Brothers & Sisters is back. Finally. I missed having Sally Field in my life. Overall I enjoyed last night's return even though it was a tad predictable. I always have a problem when series try to write one of the main character's out of the story's setting. I didn't believe for a second that Rachel would move to France at the end of Friends. I didn't believe for a second that Carrie would stay in France for a couple weeks, and I didn't believe for a second they'd take Nora out of her California home and throw her in D.C. with a tired look Danny Glover. That being said, I know that Danny is happy to take a break from not getting cabs to stop for him and bitching about it, but his character Issac had as much pers...

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up
2008-04-21 02:15:00
There are days during the year that allow us to elevate above our short-circuiting world of chaos, to tap into a higher level of circuitry. These next eight days [April 19 ? 27] - the holiday of Pesach - are such days. At this time we receive spiritual support from the universe that assists us in creating a stronger circuitry in the quality of our life. The meaning of Pesach is that every year on the 15th day of the month of Aries in the lunar calendar, we're supposed to celebrate Pesach by having a special dinner ? without bread or anything leavened ? while reciting stories from a book that is a remembrance of leaving Egypt, of redemption, and of our enemies some 3,400 years ago. That's what this holiday's all about. But, Kabbalistically, there's a powerful opportunity to transform and change our life for one year and forever. It is not about remembering what happened in the past. It's about remembering what's happening now ? and knowing how to tap into that energy. We can remove ...

Pittsburgh Blogging: Day 2

Well, today was another glorious day in the town of Pittsburgh .Here is me waking and greeting the world EARLY on a Saturday! Well..it's early for me."Oh look honey...daddy's got his hangover sunglasses on". Ok. I wasn't hungover...but it was still bright and I was still waking up.Our garage with my dad's home made wine. I can't wait til he comes up to NYC and can deliver a case of free wine. Holla. This is my old parakeet, Louie. He's kind of a bitch, but my mom seems to like his chirpy attitude. My dad tries to set him "free" into the woods. Here's the backyard where I spent a majority of my childhood. Here's the backyard where my dog spent a majority of his time "making".Speaking of childhood...my mother conned me into going through a lot of my old stuff from my childhood and agreeing to what could be thrown away. I think a majority of why they wanted me to visit Pittsburgh instead of them visit me in New York...was so I could help clean. Fooled again! Here's my reaction to ...

Pittsburgh Blogging: Day 1
2008-04-19 03:53:00
Well...I naturally underestimated the time I'd need to get from my apartment to Laguardia...but I made it. I was able to flee the city just in time for the pope to arrive.Day one was actually a pretty good day. :)After getting home and chatting it up with the rents for an hour, we were all caught up and I was left with nothing to do.So I headed to the mall...which ate up a total of 20 minutes. No one was there except for old people trying to get exercise...so I left and just drove around for a while.Back home, I talked to Bridget on the phone for like 30 minutes. That was fun. We talked about my trip to visit her in Chicago next month. Holla. I can't wait.My grandma came over for dinner: a tasty treat of veggies and my family's special cheesy noodles dish. Following the thrilling and depressing news, my father and I went to drop my Grandma off at her retirement community...where we sat for a while and discussed how her cat is so well behaved. We left when my father's allergies s...
