Miranda Avoids the Chopping Block

So the website 23/6 has a disturbing poll asking the public who should die in the Sex and the City movie. Aside from how disturbing it is to ask viewers who should get the ax in the movie, the polls were surprisingly unsurprising. The bloodlust out there is really gunning for either Samantha or Carrie to bite the big one. In a stroke of kindness though, the poll takers believe that anyone who sees the actual movie will most likely kill themselves. Apparently Cynthia Nixon let it slip that someone is going to die in the film. I highly doubt any of the core 4 will actually perish...though for her own sake, I'd suggest Kim Cattrall avoid any sharp objects. No...it'll probably be someone like Bitzy Von Mufling or some obscure character from the past like "funky spunk guy" or "the comic shop pot head". I swear to god, if they touch Magda, Hell fire will rain down on Michael Patrick King.On a totally obscure segue, I watched an episode of Sex and the City with commentary by King on it. ...

Netflix Review In A Minute: Shortbus
2008-04-17 16:41:00
Ok...wow. I don't even know where to begin with this movie. Overall, I liked it. Getting over the explicit sex scenes (and there are a lot of them), at it's core it's a very simple movie about resolving isolationism and how we're all in this together...a theme underscored by the setting of the movie, a post 9/11 New York. I did have some disappointments. I wished that some of the sex scenes had been cut down so they could actually flesh out some of the characters...mainly the painfully reserved ex-prostitute, James. I got that feeling that even before his lifeguard days he was depressed, so what did finding that old man in the bottom of the pool signify? Why hadn't he let Jamie ever penetrate him? Was he abused when he was younger? His character was just too underdeveloped. What was time that could've been devoted to sharing a little more insight, was devoted to nude shots of him instead.Sofia was an interesting character and I give Sook-Yin Lee for being able to get through s...

Madonna & I Wear The Same Outfit Cleaning: Awwwkwarrrrd!
2008-04-17 16:25:00
Madonna released a tiny little YouTube clip to thank her fans for making the video '4 Minutes' do so well. It's kind of cute...pointless...but cute. Also, if you listen closely I think that's a new Madonna track playing quietly through the video. Bonus.

Praise bebe Jebus, the weather is finally starting to turn in NYC, for more than a day. It's finally beautiful outside and I get to spend every waking second staring at my computer screen. Ah well. Such is life. It's been a good week so far...kind of slow in the news, hence my random posts, but overall, the only thing I hear about is how The Evil Emperor from Star Wars is coming to America....I mean...the "Pope" is coming to America. Yeah. I'll be thrilled about that when he actually does something about the molesting priests and finally agrees that "hey, maybe Jesus meant love ALLLL your neighbors...and not just the white Catholics"...that of course would mean he'd have to get over his Arian/Nazi past. Wont be holding my breath on that one.Anyway, on Friday I am headed back to Pittsburgh for a little family time and a nice 3 day weekend. I need a slight break from New York and I also need to visit home more than once a year. So no crazy parties to report on my end...though who k...

Wow. Read this craigslist ad. It starts off pretty funny and then just leaves you uncomfortable....kind of like me. I want to reply to this dude and split a sheet cake with him."You: hot guy with the faux hawk, camos, and gonch undies with perfect tan line, 4% bodyfat, american apparel tri-blend track shirt, L7silvr phone, ipod nano on stairclimber reading DNA Magazine and drinking a Macchiato with nonfat foam. Me: buzzed cut, ripped tatted guy with 501's with a flash of ice blue aussie bum undies and wife beater chillin on my nano with some Eminem and texting my bros on my sidekick and drinking Twinlab Extreme Ripped Force Drink. We checked each other out for a millisecond there but I was too shy to appoach you. I definately felt there was some chemistry heating up and would like to take it to the next level. Hit me up if you wanna grab some coffee or a drink. Or dinner. Or maybe we could go on an Atlantis Gay Cruise together and they can take photos of us for the brochure with yo...

Trainer's Name Fits Description of Designer's Taste In Men
2008-04-15 23:52:00
Hey look at that, Marc Jacobs walking around topless. It's odd to see a man in fashion prefer to wear absolutely nothing. I mean, he looks great (except for the face), but you lose some weight and suddenly everyone has to see you naked. It's like he's running off a mental check list and trying to get as much exposure as possible so that ANYone who called him fat before will think otherwise. Well done. You've certainly proved those bitchy cheerleaders in high school wrong.Anyway, as with any celebrity, once you lose weight, everyone MUST know your step by step approach. What do you eat, how much do you work out, or in this case, who's your trainer?"Jacobs and his trainer, known as "Easy." "Because my name wasn't Dolce or Gabbana, he [Easy] had no idea who I was," snarks Jacobs. Easy encouraged Jacobs to incorporate a little "bling" into his life. Now, they have practically matching Rolex watches (Easy's was a gift from Jacobs). "We're BFFs," says Jacobs." [SOURCE]Mmmmmmthat s...

A new ad campaign in Boston, aiming at snuffing out the groping situations many of us run into on the way to work on the subway, has taken a more direct approach than our "See Something? So in case you haven't noticed, it's been a slow news day. The Pope's coming, Hilary said this, Obama said that, and the whole world died of boredom.Anyway, I was dicking around on IMDB when I decided to check up on my profile there. Not too impressive, but considering how long I've been in the industry, I'm pretty happy with it. When you check the bottom of the profile, you see one's "star meter". I've noticed it before, but it jumps around to such arbitrary percents...one day it was up 472%...the other day it was down 243%. I clicked on the little "why?" link next to it and it merely takes me to a sign up form for IMDB Pro, a pay web site. Which makes me think that IMDB is praying on the dimwitted on Hollywood who actually shell out the money for an IMDB Pro resume just so their star meter, which if your looking for comparisons, is as relevant to society as unicorns are to dolphins...well, that is, unless your Lisa Frank...
What's the Officer, Problem?
2008-04-14 22:01:00
Well. It was kind of a crazy weekend on my part. Acting lazy for the past 6 months of winter, I forgot to stretch before taking part in a NY weekend. Friday night I went out to help kick of my friend, Brian's "birthday fest". We met at G Lounge, but after vying for bar room with too many coked out Chelsea queens, we opted to go to Therapy. We hung out at Therapy for a bit, and then it was time to call it an evening. That's when the monsoon hit and I found myself waiting too long for trains and having to pee to frequently to wait any longer...so Brian and I each got cabs home.Saturday I wound up dicking around the apartment and watching Fast Food Nation. That night, I went into the city to meet, for the first time, internet pal Apostolos, who was in town for work, from South Africa. We started with a drink at Posh, then we went to Therapy, and Vlada, and The Ritz. We had a blast, and maybe one too many.Apostolos and myself. My new best friend. We're inseparable. Some dudes we met an...

Netflix Review In A Minute: Fast Food Nation
2008-04-14 16:33:00
Um. Where to begin? I guess I liked the film...I'm just not sure what the message in the movie was. There seemed to be no apparent climax. It was if they were loosely tossing out some facts of the fast food industry, flooding the cast with B-list celebrities, so we'd be more interested in talking about why Bruce Willis was in the movie, instead of recognizing the plot is a big ol' mess.Walking away from the film, here's some bullet point lessons I learned:1. When sneaking across the border, don't brag to your friends about your new shoes because you will end up dying in the desert. 2. That little girl Ashley Johnson, who played Mel Gibson's daughter in 'What Women Want' and was on the fast track to growing up as a new Joan Cusack, actually went the opposite and became quite the hottie. 3. There is a good chance there's literally shit in your burgers.4. Greg Kinnear's character loves porn.5. If you're an illegal immigrant, be prepared to have a ton of sex with Bobby Cannav...

The closer you get to cheap perfume, the worse it stinks. That's what's going on this week. We're getting closer to the cause of the stink in our lives.[Before I go on, I've included a link to a lecture I gave last week for the New Moon of Aries. Please WATCH IT HERE when you have a chance.]Back to the story, this week is the ramp up to the holiday of Pesach, the time in history when the Israelites escaped slavery in Egypt and parted the Red Sea. But you've been reading these Tune Ups for some time, so I don't need to explain to you that we are the slaves and Egypt is the devilish chatter in our heads ? I can't do it, I hate you, I hate myself, this is all bull, I can't make a difference, my prime has passed...People today are dealing with more mental maladies than at any other time in history? Top 10 Gays on TV
2008-04-11 21:11:00
10. Marco Del Rossi (Degrassi: The Next Generation): Alright, go ahead and laugh, but Marco (aside from being hot) is actually part of the few shows out there that show a young teen's struggle with coming out. In other shows it all just hilarious anecdotes or flashbacks (Will & Grace), but we see his character actually deal with situations head on...take for instance, whenhe's not allowed to donate blood, because he's gay.9. Stanford Blatch (Sex and the City): Well...anyone who can put up with Carrie's high pitched banshee screams for so long should wind up on a list somewhere. I understood and sympathized with Stanford's self-deprecating values as a gay man in the competitive New York metro area. It's not easy living in a city where models run freely. Fortunately he snagged Marcus at a Starbucks, and thus proved to himself and some viewers that looks aren't everything.8. Mel Marcus (Queer As Folk): Never have I been in more love with a lesbian, than I was with the angry, bit...

Netflix Review In A Minute: Saw III
2008-04-11 19:59:00
Well....another Saw movie down the drain. I wasn't too thrilled with this film, but I will say I spent most of it watching the through my fingers. As the sequels come out, and the gore level kept rising, they actually somewhat explained why, in the third installment. My roommate totally called it too. The apprentice, Amanda (Shawnee Smith) set up traps, that were impossible to escape without killing yourself, which goes against the real Jigsaw's M.O. This time around Jigsaw is still dying, and Amanda becomes a huge hypocrite. She has this whole Messiah complex for Jigsaw...idolizing him for saving her life from the drug addled life she came from...but she still cuts herself and is still nuts...thus negating any good Jigsaw brought to her life. In conclusion, she's just fucking nuts.I liked this bought of tests for the upset father...because while there was plenty of blood and dying...it wasn't the test subject's death. He had the opportunity to save people that had hurt him (you...

Happy Hump Day!
2008-04-09 17:26:00
Well another Wednesday is upon us. Every week I can't wait to sing its praises. Last weekend, I spent my birthday doing absolutely nothing. It was a crappy day (weather wise) and I had been pulling late nights at work all week...so what I wanted to do, was just go home, put on the tube, have some drinks, and relax. And that's what I did. It was beautiful.Saturday I got up and went into Soho and did some shopping. I blew most of my birthday cash on clothes...so I'm a little bit closer to being ready for summer. Saturday night I went to The Musical Box and B-Side in alphabet city with some co-workers. After having a couple drinks with them, I went back up to Hells Kitchen, had a drink there and then took my ass home. All and all, a chill night.Sunday I went to Home Depot and spent some time with the lezzies in the gardening section. Ever since I saved my Money Tree from certain death in January by merely buying it a big pot and new soil, I had this strange sense of "being a good ga...

Netflix Review In A Minute: License to Wed

Wow. What an awful movie. I'm still trying to decide whether this movie was written by a Mormon or if it was written by an elementary school teacher who has as much fun with her 'Where's Waldo?' books as her students do.After 15 minutes of the movie, I wanted to turn it off. As if following along with some kind of 'Romantic Comedy' check list, I had already predicted what was going to happen. I had hopes though. I love Mandy Moore (not necessarily her music)...I love John Krasinski...and Robin Williams...uh...well he was good as the Genie in 'Aladdin'. Anyway, true to form, it seemed as if the casting director wanted Krasinski for his 'Jim from The Office' humor. Only...his humor doesn't work since John can't look at the camera and shrug. His character Ben just came across as awkward. And surprise surprise, Kelly, Kevin, AND Angela from The Office, show up in the movie. Further strengthening my belief that John was only hired because of The Office fanbase they wanted to ...

In all of my rambling...all of my judgements and rolled eyes...there's actually only one person in this world that I actually, truly, hate. Such an ugly word and an even uglier attitude to have...especially as a Kabbalah student. This person, we'll call him Paul, played a pivotal role in the untimely death of one of my best friends. While I believe we control our own destiny and ultimately it's ourselves that do us in...my mind has a hard time separating Paul from the events that took place almost 4 years ago to the day. The interactions between Paul and my friend, we'll call Mike, were volatile and weaved together by a string of lies. Almost ripped out of a poorly made CW television drama, I found myself dicking around on Facebook, when the new feature to the side of your friends' news feeds, alerted me to some people on Facebook who share my friends and I might be interested in friending them as well. That's when Paul's profile popped up. I hadn't actually thought of hi...

Eh. I didn't really care for this film. I LOVED Shaun of the Dead...but this movie just didn't pull me in. I guess I just had really high expectations for this film and it's hard to meet that bar. I actually considered turning off the film half way through it. The film finally got interesting at the hour and a half mark. Up until that point, it was almost pain-stakingly annoying. All these murders would pop up and the town's peoples' reactions were just ridiculous. I mean, you found out why they reacted the way they did...but I guess it was just the actors or how it was portrayed...I wanted to rip my hair out. It was far less funny or imaginative than Shaun of the Dead....I don't know. I just don't have much to say about this. It sucked.I would pass on this film unless you're stalking Jim Broadbent and you need to see every film he's ever been in.

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up
2008-04-06 18:01:00
A student recently wrote to me: "I want to stop judging people but I can't. It's like breathing, it's part of who I am and what I do. I'd have an easier time holding my breath. What can I do?"The great sage known as the Baal Shem Tov said something beautiful that speaks to this, but it's not poetry or philosophy or a metaphor or a nice way to live your life. It's reality what I'm about to share with you. Here it is:Whatever annoying behavior you see in someone else is inside you. That person is a mirror showing you what you've got to correct in your life. Somewhere within your consciousness, either on the surface, mid-level, or deep within, you have the exact same trait you are judging. Now we've heard this all before. People are mirrors, we get it Yehuda. But the Baal Shem Tov goes one step further. He says, not only do you have to accept responsibility that what you see is inside of you, but you must know with certainty the person will never change until you do.That's a m...

Top 10 Moments of Year 23
2008-04-04 22:33:00
Well...today is my birthday and at 3:44pm I officially became 24. Usually I feel this big build up to my birthday, but this year it sort of came out of nowhere. Anyway...I thought for this Friday's "Top 10 " list, I'd recap the past year as a 23 year old.10. MAKING 23 YEARS: When I was 3, I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I could've died...but I've been in remission/"cured" of it since the age of 6. So parents remind me every year that it's just special that I'm even here now. That sounds kind of morbid...but it's not really.9. TATTOO: I looooove tattoos...and am now obsessed with getting a little more work done. But I got to start a 'Kabbalah-themed' tattoo on my arm. The tree of life, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the ego/snake, the Ari. I love it. 8. MY BLOG: Yes, I'm thankful for this piece-o-crap blog. I started it for a couple of reasons; 1. So that if I ever choose to delete MySpace, I wont lose my blogs with it...and 2. So I can have more control over the...

Netflix Review In A Minute: Annie Hall
2008-04-04 21:40:00
So last night I finally got to watch Woody Allen's 'Annie Hall '...and it was not entirely what I expected. To be honest I expected a romantic comedy...and while it had it's funny parts and it's romantic parts...it definitely left me feeling a little sad for the characters Alvin and Annie.I haven't seen a ton of Woody Allen films...my first, I'll have to admit...was the poorly received 'Small Time Crooks'..(what? I like Tracy Ullman). I had heard of Annie Hall...but I kept confusing it with Allen's other film, 'Manhattan'. Anyway. It was a good film. Diane Keaton does a great job trading blows with the neurotic and death obsessed Woody Allen. It's always fun to watch films from the 70's. It was such a different time back then and attitudes towards drugs, sex, and homosexuality were so different and a lot more open back then. EVERYONE smokes, btw. I've quit smoking for almost 4 months, but watching every character light up...made me want one for a brief second. Also, I li...
