Zohar Project: NY

The student-run Zohar Project in the New York Kabbalah Centre [Zohar Light Brigade] has been busy these last few months raising money and blanketing police, fire stations and first responders with the protection of the Zohar.Students have braved whipping winds and freezing rain to go door to door throughout the five boroughs of New York City, hand-delivering mini Pinchas, full sets, and the about to be released Sacred Zohar [all 24 volumes in 1.] Police precincts, community affairs officers, and 200 fire stations were happy to receive the Zohars, many putting them directly in their offices, cars and trucks. The delivery rate was well over 90%.For the fire station outreach alone, the New York community came through by raising well over $85,000. Netflix Review In A Minute: Saw II

Believe it or not, I actually liked this movie. Of course with the sequel, things are going to be a little more convoluted and a hell of a lot more gory. A thing I like about the Saw movies, is the choice for victims. In every Saw film, the victims are usually ex-con's, cheaters, druggies...so it becomes an interesting balancing of feeling bad for the people in the situations they find themselves in...but also you can't help but feel...maybe...just maybe...they're getting their karmic payback.The movie had an interesting cast. The return of a couple characters from the first film, but we also get Donnie Walhberg, Glenn Plummer (ER), Emmanuelle Vaugier (CSI:NY), and Beverley Mitchell (7th Heaven). I never pictured the blonde chick from 7th Heaven showing up in a Saw movie...but I guess she figured if her old co-star Jessica Biel could do Texas Chainsaw Massacre...she could get a little red dye and corn syrup on her too.I like to believe I have an understanding of actors' standing...

Can you believe it's already April? It's odd...it seems like time's gone by so fast...but then I realize, with my birthday coming up, that time is completely relative. Things are going well. Busy with work as usual, but it's a good busy. My birthday is this Friday, but I actually hate my birthday...so I believe I will be trying to avoid doing anything special on it. My friends Bicardi and Daniels may be coming over...but that's about it.I rushed out during lunch yesterday up to the Best Buy just about Houston on Broadway and bought Sweeney Todd, so that's also what I did last night. God I love that movie. Tim Burton is my fav....and he's also working on an Alice and Wonderland movie...which is my favorite book...so put the two together and I will pee my pants for the entire movie. The "Drunk Danny's Oscar-viewing Netflix Queue" party train continues. This time, it's the classic Elizabeth Taylor/Paul Newman film. I really did like the play...and I love that I now have more of an understanding on Blanche from the Golden Girls. It was like watching the prequel to her Golden Girl's appearance.For most of the film, I thought Brick's relationship with his ol' football buddy was...a gay scandal or something...not that he was just looking for a father figure to replace Big Daddy.Also, Brick's sister-in-law looked straight out of Planet of the Apes. DAMN. I mean, I'm no looker, but yikes...she could've starred in a Geico commercial or something.Elizabeth Taylor was her fierce self. I'm under the impression that her character Maggie is supposed to be some temptress...sexy...horn dog...but I guess it's just a clash of early American culture and today's. Saturday @ The Astoria Sculpture Garden

They still haven't put up a new exhibit since this summer. Many of the pieces were taken down and it looked like a giant stone city model-thing was either taken out or destroyed. There was "DO NOT CROSS" tape around it and some of it was still there in pieces. I hope it wasn't destroyed. Overall it was an enjoyable day, weather-wise. I love walking down to the sculpture garden, and I can't wait until it's warmer out.

5. Fat Actress: OK....so Kirstie Alley and her gang of Scientologists are kind of...crazy and evil...BUT...this ShowTime show was actually pretty hilarious. I've actually added it to my Netflix queue. We'll see if I buy it down the road. It last one season...but I think the key factors in what made it hilarious were Kirstie's self-deprecating humor (begging John Travolta to make another "Look Who's Talking" movie) and the hilarious Rachel Harris, who's now forced to sputter out lines in the crap show Notes from the Underbelly. 4. The Critic: The poor show never stood a chance. I think it last almost 2 seasons. Either way, they only sell the DVDs as a complete 'Full Series' experience. It started on FOX then bounced to ABC or vice versa...but it became the victim of a quick to ride the coat tails of the Simpsons scheme...and when it didn't immediately grab the nation for millions upon millions of viewers like the Simpsons were doing, it got the axe. It was a hilarious show......

So the new Madonna single '4 Minutes ' has been floating around the internet for a while...and I've basically obsessed over it for days. I have got to stop putting up fliers for gay club parties on my page. There are so many crotch and butt shots, my blog is starting to look like amateur porn.ANYWAY. Another hump day is upon us, and thank god...it's been a long week. I've got some exciting news to report: my brother and his wife found out that they're pregnant with their second child, so that means I'm going to be an uncle again. I've very excited and happy for them. I hope it's a girl this time.Yesterday I purchased tickets for a flight back to Pittsburgh in mid April. It's going to be a little 3 day weekend excursion. Ten silver dollars to the person who can tell me where this post's title came from.In an increasing effort to stop my eye rolling, sighs of impatience, and overall rage towards women with large shopping bags who cut me off on the sidewalk, I'm starting to think that something I learned at the Kabbalah Center seminar a couple weeks ago, is a good idea.The speaker at the seminar asked the audience how they felt when someone (literally) bumped into them on the street. The answers were merely different ways of saying "pissed off".
