Happy Hump Day!
2008-03-12 18:29:00
Thank GOD! Another Wednesday is upon us. This week seems to be crawling. Um today is also a great day, because it is also the free seminar at the Kabbalah Center, from 7pm to 9pm...so I'll be skipping out of work a tad early to rush up there. The Center isn't in the most accessible area of Manhattan. Other than that, I've got a show premiering on truTV tomorrow night at 9pm (which I'll remind you about again tomorrow). It's been kind of rough with this whole seasonal depression crap. I looked it up on wikipedia to see if there are things I can do about it and all they suggest was sitting infront of specific lights for 30 minutes a day..blah blah. I understand it's a deficiency of vitamin D or something, and I understand that with my staying indoors all weekend and only venturing out to do some mild shopping or get a tattoo, I should just work on getting out more. Spring thaw is upon us and it'll start for me, this weekend when I go out to party at Mr.Black's Church Sessions ...

Here's the supposed cover for Madonna 's first single '4 Minutes To Save The World'. I like it...it's appallingly simple...but it works. Singles never have the best artwork. They usually leave that for the actual album. Also...who buys singles anymore? And iTunes doesn't count!

Purim 2008: Watch It Live!
2008-03-11 20:03:00
Thursday March 20th 2008 7:30PM PSTKabbalah .com will be offering a LIVE Streaming Connection to Purimwith Kabbalists Rav and Karen Berg.Register HERE to Watch We are born with the potential to climb to such great heights. Yet, too often we settle for less because we become consumed with doubt. That?s why the greatest challenge we face in life is defeating our own doubt. It?s not easy. Uncertainty is so ingrained in our consciousness that we are blindly conditioned to it. Fortunately, the Creator assists us in removing aspects of ourselves that are of darkness. The holiday of Purim is one such assistance. Known as the Holiday of Joy, Purim has the energy of destroying doubt. As Rav Brandwein taught the Rav, ?there is nothing that creates greater joy than the removal of doubts.? Because once we remove doubts about ourselves, there are no barriers blocking our true greatness. During Purim we can connect with this energy by listening to the reading the Book of Esther, which gives ...

Well this weekend was a lot of fun. For starters, my tattoo appointment got canceled cause my guy was sick...so I was pissed..but actually looking forward to taking a break from the pain and gimpness in my left arm following a session...which also mean I wasn't going to be a gimp for my party that night. We had a great turn out and almost everyone showed up for their awards. Unfortunately, I was having too much "fun" winkwink that I forgot to take pictures during the party. I'm actually really pissed about that...but ah well..what're you gonna do about that? Anyway...The awards in no particular order:1. The "I'd Like To Slide Into That" Award winner: Steve!2. The "Spicy Taco" Award winner: Miguel!3. The "Me Ruv You Rong Time" Award winner: Eric!4. The "Bushiest Beaver" Award winner: Carol! (was a typo...was meant to say "Busiest")5. The "Look A Shiny Object" Award winner: Ryan!6. The "Bottoms Up" Award winner: Danny!7. The "Longest Engagement" Award winners: Gabo & Richie!8. The...

Netflix Review In A Minute: Knocked Up
2008-03-11 16:00:00
This movie has the makings of one of the worst films in history. First off, I'm starting to NOT like Judd Apatow and feel that he's merely 2000's response to the 90's Farrelly brothers. I also can't stand Katherine Heigl. Ever since TR Knight came out of the closet, somehow this woman has usurped the spotlight and turned it into the nonstop Heigl bitch fest. She totally is Grace from Will & Grace.BUT....I actually really liked the movie. With scripted dialog, it's hard for Katherine to be such a whiny runt. I don't believe for a second that her character would hook up with Seth Rogen's character. The plot seemed to be the wet dream of a nerd who was constantly turned down in high school. And of course it had the predictable ending of a pot smoking reject turning his life around in a montage...where he FINALLY gets his own pad, a job, and reads those darn baby books. My favorite character was actually the bit part played by current SNL star, Katherine Wiig...of Heigl's co-wo...

I just wanted to post this for posterity's sake. I know it's all over the web by now, but Amy Poehler's imitation of Project Runway winner Christian :gaaaaaaagggg: is pure genius. It's pretty much dead on....unfortunately the Tim Gun and Heidi Klum impersonations suck. They should've had Santino come on and do Tim. His impersonation is better.

Netflix Review In A Minute: Saw
2008-03-09 22:35:00
This weekend, my roommate and I both saw Saw for the first time. I know that it has, like, 14 sequels...and I'm sure it's going to get progressively crappier with each one, but I thought Saw was great. It's not really a horror film, such as it is a psychological thriller. There is gore and death, but it was one of the smarter "horror films" I've seen in a long while, and the ending threw me for a major loop...I loved it!It was kind of funny watching, having watched Lost, and seeing Ben and that new Asian dude (the Other Others) in the movie. The actor who plays Ben is just creepy in general, and I can never see him doing a romantic comedy in the future, so he was suited well for the film. I definitely don't understand why Danny Glover was in the film, but I guess maybe while he was waiting for a cab he decided he could knock out a film in the mean time. Did that joke work? Anyway, I highly suggest the movie...it's not predictable in the least. My one gripe with the film was one ...

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up
2008-03-09 22:30:00
Let's face it, we've all hurt people in ways in which we'd hate to admit. And those of us who are aware of the universal law of cause and effect are concerned about the spiritual damage we have done. I wrote about this a few weeks ago and the response was overwhelming. Many of you really took the message to heart and began owning up to some behaviors you've been hiding from. I bring this topic up again because I cannot stress enough how important it is to hold ourselves accountable to our deeds. Because if we don't, the universe will. King David wrote, "I always hold my sins before me." All too often we remember the good things we've done and forget the bad. The Light, however, works in the opposite manner, remembering what is forgotten and forgetting what is remembered. When we draw attention to our positive actions by sitting back and thinking, "Wow, look at me, look at what I did, aren't I amazing, where is my reward for this," we suck the Light out of our actions of shari...

The onslaught of Madonna continues. This time, she's popping up in Interview Magazine. Here are some tidbits from the interview. On working with Justin Timberlake: "I really enjoy writing with Justin...We had psychoanalytic sessions whenever we wrote songs first. We'd sit down and we'd start talking about situations. And then we'd start talking about issues or problems or relationships with people. That was the only way, because you know, writing together with somebody is very intimate...that was fun, because he's open and he's got talent. He's a songwriter. I haven't worked with a lot of songwriters where I'm instantly connected and start riffing and playing with the rhythm of the words. He's as interested in the rhythm of the words as the meaning of the words."On adopting her son David: "He wouldn't have lived if I hadn't taken him. It's not even a possibility."On gaining perspective: "We live very comfortable lives, and unfortunately, we have to have our noses rubbed ...

Weekly Wisdom: Real Certainty
2008-03-07 19:53:00
The problem with life?s tests is that we always perceive before we go into a test that it will be difficult, but we think that whatever I understand now will sort of help me through it. In reality, when a person goes through a test, what he thought he had to sustain him has to be taken away or it is not a true test.In the story of the Golden Calf, we know that the fall came in the last 6 hours before Moshe was supposed to return. The Midrash explains how the Israelites fell? There was a vision created of the death of Moshe. The Israelites saw Moshe was dead and being carried by the angels. Then came the question, are you going to have certainty in Moshe who said he would be back in 40 days, or are you going to believe your eyes? When we go through tests of consciousness, whatever clarity we had is not there anymore. And not only is it not there any more, the opposite is there. The Zohar talks very clearly of certainty referring to Jacob. Very often people mistake certainty as being ce...

Netflix Review In A Minute: Evan Almighty
2008-03-06 22:58:00
WOW! Talk about your waste of time and money. You have Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, John Goodman, Morgan Freeman, John Michael Higgins, and that fat kid who's fucking Judd Apatow, and THIS is what they churn out? Even with the writers from Bruce Almighty on board? First off, the fact that it made me love Bruce Almighty even more is sad. It was like one giant pun that didn't make sense. In Bruce, Jim Carrey's character is given the power of God...and he has to learn to not be an ass with it and learn about responsibility and not necessarily always getting what you want.In Evan , Evan's already a nice guy. He has a beautiful wife and house and a great job. So what does he need to learn? Apparently, we had to watch the full movie to learn that Evan should've taken in the stray dog. Wow...::insert sarcastic clap::And why did Evan have to grow the beard to build the ark? Why did his hair have to turn white? It made no sense whatever...but just added to their cheap gags, like the movie t...

I'ma have to steal some of the virginal blood she and Michelle Pfeiffer are guzzling down. I've been listening to the song on repeat and I gotta say it has gotten into my head. I love the 3 songs I've heard from Hard Candy, so far. I can't wait until April 29th when the album drops.

Happy (Thank God Huckabee Is Gone) Hump Day!
2008-03-05 20:07:00
Well some GREAT news last night! America isn't necessarily going into the crapper. Huckabee finally threw in the towel, and even though McCain isn't a friend to the gays, he's still better than Fuckabee. And with Huckabee out, we're safe from his hate fueled/religiously delusional leading skills...at least for another 4 years. And even better knews, Hillary Clinton beat Obama, snagging Ohio and Texas...the two key states she needed to secure her footing in the race. So take THAT, Oprah. Ok. I wont get into it anymore...because I already wrote about how us Demo's could wind up destroying ourselves if we polarize even more on the candidates....so I will merely say, I'm really glad Hillary is still in the running. On my end of things I don't have anything to report. Work is work....more tattoo work this weekend...and my house party/the Queensies Awards on Saturday, so it should be fun. This week's hump day treat is American model, Zac Taylor. Netflix Review In A Minute: Dead Silence
2008-03-05 19:24:00
Believe it or not, this movie wasn't so horrible. Last night I watched Dead Silence . It's about a man who receives a ventriloquist's dummy in the mail, which is quickly followed up by the death of his wife. Upon her death, he goes back to his hometown where there's a legend about a woman named Mary Shaw who had no children, only dolls...blah blah. Anyway, apparently Shaw and her dolls are exactly revenge on the people that were part of her disappearance. For some reason Donnie Wahlberg opted to star as the police officer chasing the widowed husband. I'm not really calling him a great actor...but it just seemed like an odd choice for him.Overall it was really creepy (at least watching it by myself), and I looooved the ending. I didn't see that coming whatsoever. The whole thing played out like a cross between that old Goosebumps book Night of the Living Dummy and that Twilight Zone episode, cleverly titled, The Dummy. My maaaaaiiin gripes would be that not enough people died, t...

Smelly Furturdo
2008-03-04 18:47:00
I would not normally invoke my friend's nickname for Nelly Furtado , but after this weekend, I was left with no other choice. You all know I love Nelly. I would switch teams for that woman. I have all her song's lyrics memorized and I almost died when I met her at Virgin Megastore for an autographing session. However, I recently purchased her Get Loose Tour DVD and it was quite possibly the worst thing I had ever seen. The set list is as follows:1. Afraid: She doesn't even sing the song. It opens the show with the chorus and then immediately segues into Say It Right. It shouldn't count as a track or chapter.2. Say It Right: Eh. Ok performance. 3. Turn Off The Light 4. Powerless 5. Do It / Wait For You: Again, she sings Do It, but she only sings a little bit of the chorus for Wait For You. Should not be counted as a track. 6. Showtime 7. Crazy: Good song, but annoying as hell when she opts out of singing the chorus by waving her microphone over the audience. I remember hearing that...
Netflix Review In A Minute: Fiddler on the Roof
2008-03-04 00:16:00
So...apparently when you combine The Oscars and rum and cokes, you get me, on Netflix , adding every movie used in a montage to his queue. Hence: Fiddler on the Roof .Albeit a classic film, I had *wanted to see it...but when it arrived...with the 2hr and 59 minute length, I shuddered a bit.But low and behold, I broke down on Friday night, and my roommate and I watched it in its entirety, and I actually liked it! Well you know I love the Jews in general...so put them in a film and BAJAM! you got a good movie. Also, it's a musical, so it appealed to the gay man inside me.It did seem to me that none of these actors were really "great" singers...and in the end, I was left rather depressed even though I guess the fiddler's presence and song were supposed to represent finding some joy in all the shit in your life. I really liked the character Tevye and I felt a certain tug at my heart like machine as you watch a man so steeped in tradition, cope with 3 daughters who (to me seemed a little...

Crazy Always Skips A Generation
2008-03-03 23:40:00
I've been watching a lot of 30 Rock lately, since my roommate started getting it on Netflix, and while I had watched a couple episodes prior, here and there, I never really got into it. Now having watched each episode in succession, I've grown to really love the show, and surprisingly enough, Alec Baldwin (though I loved him in Beetlejuice)We all know the story of him screaming at his daughter, blah blah, but it's nice to see that even though his douche of a brother Stephen (of Biodome fame) hates the gays and human rights (which somehow he thinks baby Jesus would be on board with the hate train), Alec knows that in the "real world" everyone deserves the same rights."In the modern political world, people like that, whether or not I?m related to them, only help us raise money. They want to ban gay marriage because those people are incapable of having a biological family, that?s their only argument. You can ban gay marriage, but if you?re going to make it fair, then you have to ban ...

Her 'Hag' Chip Must Be On The Fritz

Honestly, I know that one should never believe out right whatever they see in the media. Fine. I can handle that. You just take everything with a grain of salt no matter what you see and no matter what you want it be have meant. But Katherine HeyGirl is dominating the "World's Most Annoying Successful Actress" category. She plays 3rd fiddle to Sandra Oh and that Pompeo chick and then she lands a role in Knocked Up, becomes even more successful...and has since used that power to act like a *cough*wordthatryhmeswithrunt*cough*. In this clip she's tearing TR Knight from his fans. Ten million dollars says that she wouldn't have been so hasty to leave had anyone in that crowd gave a rats ass about her.Also...they're both cute, but the TR's boy looks a tad too young. I'm not a fan of this May December romance.

Weekly Kabbalah Tune Up
2008-03-02 17:21:00
On Friday, March 7th, we begin the second month of Pisces. Two Pisces? What gives? The regular [Gregorian] calendar is based on the Earth?s revolution around the Sun; it is comprised of 365 days in a regular year and 366 days in each fourth or leap year. By contrast, the kabbalistic calendar is based upon the lunar calendar; it is comprised of 355 days in a regular year, each month corresponding to one of the twelve signs of the Zodiac (12 x 29/30).However, seven times in nineteen years there occurs a leap year, which contains an additional (thirteenth) month, Pisces II. This means the correspondence between the lunar and solar calendar is maintained.Kabbalistic astrology is based on the lunar calendar because the moon represents the desire to receive, the true essence of humanity. Therefore, kabbalistic astrology reveals the true basis and nature of our existence. (You can earn more about kabbalistic astrology here)What all this means to us is on the 7th we get to genetically modify...

Oh Great, A New Way To Know No One Wants Me
2008-03-01 04:31:00
Oh look, DList.com has a new way to take your passive aggressiveness to the next level. Not only do you apparently not have the guts to tell someone you're interested in them OVER THE INTERNET, but now you get to hint at or anonymously suggest you're into another person online. Hey, here's a suggestion...why don't people grow a set and actually just come out and say something. What's next? An application to tell someone you like them by emailing a friend to email the other person and ask if they're interested in you to? Hello Junior High. It's actually kind of a rip off of Facebook's "Into You" application.
