Best show so far?

After reading all the reviews and setlists of the shows thus far on the “Magic” tour, I have come to a conclusion on which show stands out as the best of the best. Before I reveal my selection, I will say that I am going to keep bias out of the equation by not using my experience at any of the shows as a factor; I am going simply by reviews and setlists. So, starting with the rehearsal show in New Jersey on September 24th, 2007, through the latest show in London on May 31st, 2008, I have chosen the March 24th, 2008, show at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. This show just stands out as being one of the most energetic shows to date. The setlist is truly unbelievable with the world debut of “You’ll Be Comin’ Down” as well as the long awaited appearance of “Sherry Darling.” A few other gems included standout performances of “Incident”, “Rosie”, and “Glory Days.” What a show! Bruce & the E Street Band live on Today, Sept. 28 In 2002, to celebrate the release of The Rising, NBC’s Today show pulled up their tent stakes and traveled to Asbury Park. This time, Bruce and the E Street Band make the trip. Their Rockefeller Plaza performance on the morning of September 28, the Friday before the album’s release, will be broadcast live on Today. According to today’s press release, “In their live concert on the Plaza, Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform songs from their October 2 Columbia Records release Magic as well as classic hits.” More details as we have them.

I’d just returned from California after an unsuccessful attempt to live as a musician in the Bay Area. Steve’s band, the Sundance Blues Band, were booked at the Captain’s Garter in Neptune, New Jersey. I sat in with Steve and we played to a packed and cheering crowd. This was a job we needed, bad. I was broke. After the show, sweaty and triumphant, Steve and I went back to meet the manager of the place, figuring we were this guy’s dream come true. Another week pasess and still no official announcement on Bruce Springsteen’s new album and tour. Fan Internet sites have been filled with all kinds of rumors and specualtion about the album release date (Oct. 2. seems to be the consensus), tour schedule (see below) and even if Bruce will use the U2-style system of having a computer determine who gets to be closes to the stage, if the floor will be general-admission standing. The following tour dates for Bruce and the E Street Band have been rumored.
