My First Blog Yet.
2008-02-18 06:06:00 Greetings! I am TigerTony, yes… Tony the Tiger, giggle do whatever, but do not serenade me in the frosted flakes song, that’s all I ask, thanks. Anyways, this is my first blog, and I hope to do it well. I do enjoy blogging about random things, but this time, I’ll more often than not blog about TV Shows that are shown in my area, or on national television. Every once in a while, I’ll see a movie that I like, or have an aversion to, and I’ll blog about that too. Nevertheless, given that this is my first post, I’ll just make clear to you how things work with me. I’m a funny guy, I suppose, I take pleasure in [TV shows]; Comedies, Chick Flicks, Drama, Adventure, Fantasy, Reality, anything that catches my fancy in a preview, or something similar to that. For the reason that American Idol is such a big hit, I’ll post about that now and then, or refer to it in a post. Numerous additional television shows that are big hits by me [Lost, Hannah Montana, Smallville and fami... More About: Blog
Movie News Monday!
2008-01-29 02:17:00 Hello all, and welcome to a new week of DHMC! Like always I'm gonna be filling you in with the most important and Drock-worthy movie news of the week (or at least the weekend). It seems that Spartans have been raised from the grave once again to haunt us at the box office. The '300' spoof 'Meet the Spartans' topped the box office this weekend making $18.7 million; all it cost to make the film. Sadly, our most favorite sequel (not) just missed the top spot making $18.2 million. Up next was surprisingly '27 Dresses' making $13.6 million, and knocking Cloverfield out of the fourth spot, obviously getting its revenge. Juno is still blowing everyone away (as it should) as it is still holding strong in the top ten; making $10.3 million and now reaching the $100 million mark.Seems like Will Smith is not going to be out of our minds from a while (although if this movie's gonna be anything like I Am Legend, spare me then). He'll be returning in July for the superhero flick 'Hancock... More About: News , Movie , Monday
Superhero-rama: Wolverine Related Explosions!
2008-01-23 21:43:00 That caught your attention didn't it? I can see your face now, all scrunched up and confused (gotchya!). But actually its kind of relevant. Tis is our first superhero related story today! The new Fox movie 'X-Men Legends: Wolverine ' (or better known as Wolverine) has been given permission to store a crap load of explosives in the Queenstown fun center in New Zealand where the movie is being shot. The local council wasn't all to thrilled about this though, opposing it openly. But in the world of who makes more money than who, seems like locals or safety don't matter right? A bit more reading on this subject here.TRANSFORMERS WATCH!Sorry, no T2 news right now but we do have some good news for the original 'Transformers'. It has received not one not 29 but 3 Oscar nominations! Of course its for nothing like best actor or best screenplay, but for all the stuff Michael Bay is good at such as Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and of course Visual Effects (one of these days someones gonna... Movie News Monday: Expectations...
2008-01-22 01:00:00 (Start 'expect' count now) The movie seems to be expecting a lot of things lately. Expecting movies to make so little (then they make a lot), expecting the strike to end in a few weeks (then apparently in a couple more months), and I'm still expecting 2,000 visitors a day, but we don't always get what we expect do we?The newly released monster thriller 'Cloverfield' wasn't expected to make $41 million over the weekend but it did. IMDB compares it to previous moster roller coaster 'Godzilla' which made $55.7 million in its first weekend. Although after that weekend sails went down and only ended up making $136 million, while it cost $130 mill to make (*twitches*). Yet, 'Cloverfield' only took $25 million to make, and its already well succeeded that number. Quoting a friend of mine it was apparently "amazing!" (but who trusts my friends right?) '27 Dresses' is still doing exceeding expectations as it made a cool $22.4 million. Sadly, those were the only shock at the Box O... More About: News , Movie , Monday , Expectations
What Drock Thinks?: Maybe its time...
2008-01-19 00:59:00 To end the WGA writers strike. (calm down people) I'm not saying I don't support they're cause and blah blah, but look what its doing to our society! Beyond my own selfish wishes of the Colbert Report, the Daily Show, and much other television shows returning, the whole business in general is suferring. Just Wednesday I reported that JLA might have to wait until '09 to even start filming. Much earlier than that a lot of Tonight Shows have been temporarily canceled due to this strike.Yes, at first, I was all for it. I laughed at the TV shows' failure and giggled at the movies being held back...But then movies started being held back that I like, and shows too! Add that to movies and TV shows in general and look what we have now! Every other day we hear some movies been pushed back til '09 or '10, or this show is canceled for now, or this famous and prestigious awards ceremony will not be held. All sound like great strikes from the WGA, and they are, but what are we getting? Th... More About: Time
Superhero-Rama!: JLA saves the day...Tomorrow?
2008-01-16 23:19:00 I know this is the post you guys have missed the most! Well its back! Now you can calm down and live your normal life again :).My never ending rant on 'The Dark Knight' is one thing that has not subsided; even after my little hiatus. Christopher Nolan talked to The Los Angeles Times yesterday about the importance of some characters in the movie. Apparently to him Harvey Dent (Two Face) is "... is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film." Also he snubs out Heather Ledger only saying he "...sort of cuts through the film -- he's got no story arc, he's just a force of nature tearing through." Yet compliments his performance (aka smooth cover) calling it "amazing" and "extraordinary". I'm surprised that he took this route. Seems like Joker is a definite Batman crowd favorite, but I do want to see what tricks he can pull out of the bag that is Two Face. But in my defense they are advertising a bit misleadingly. "Why So Serious"-A quote from Joker is plastered acros... More About: Superhero , Tomorrow , Saves the Day

Move News Monday!
2008-01-15 00:47:00 Ah, its been a while since we've all read that. Aren't you so excited to see what's comin'? Well I am too. Let's act like that little renovation never happened and get on to the movie news.As most of you should know, many actors and fans (of watching extremely long and boring speech filled) Golden Globe Awards were quite angry that there was no actual ceremony or parties (drunkards); yet just a press conference announcing all the winners. Johnny Depp has finally snatched his long awaited (and deserved) Golden Globe for 'Sweeny Todd' which also won best Best Motion picture (Musical). 'Atonement' (the newest Titanic :/) also won two Globes for Best Motion Picture (Drama. And lots of it) and Best Original Music. Also in the mix of winners were two French movies ('La Via En Rose' and 'Ratatouille') along with some blood churning thrillers ('There Will Be Blood' and 'no Country For Old Men') and a couple other movies you've probably never heard of in your life (I told y... I Am Legend Review
2007-12-18 01:21:00 I am Legend . Ha! More like I Am Crap. Let this movie become a legend and there is truly no more hope for the movie industry. Yes, if you didn't get the hint from that really blatant first line this movie was terrible. To start off its to darn slow! We don't get into any progress until about 45 minutes-1 hour in the movie, and that only leaves so much more time. Every scene is basically the same routine and is maybe an obvious explanation of a major plot point through what I guess they thought qualified as an "action scene." That or one of his little "flashbacks" that were so anti-climatic and predictable.Speaking of predictable the whole movie was predictable! Walking out of the theatre I thought that maybe I should become a phsycic or a gypsy, but then I realized any idiot could conjure up the basic point of what was going to happen next. Way to keep me guessing (not. more like way to keep me slouched in a chair for 2 hours)! I also got so sick of hearing him talk to himself. Yes... More About: Review , I Am Legend
Superhero-rama!: Wolverines, Iron Men, and Predators OH MY!
2007-12-13 01:13:00 What seem to be the biggest superhero movies lately? Why 'AVP: Requiem', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', and 'Speed Racer' of course! People just can't get enough of this stuff, so I bring it to you ;).We finally have a synopsis to Wolverine's little (more like soon to be blockbuster) movie provided by Comingsoon.netX-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to star Jackman and will be directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition). The producers are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter (who produced all three previous "X-Men" films), along with Jackman and his Seed Prods. producing partner, John Palermo. The film will be executive produced by Marvel Films' Kevin Feige.Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine – written by David Benioff (The Kite Runner, Troy) – tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar a... More About: Predators , Superhero , Iron
Superhero-rama!: Terrible posters
2007-12-06 19:35:00 We finally got a teaser poster for 'The Dark Knight' and I have to admit I was fairly excited, yet after seeing it all I am is disappointed. Before you all go ranting about how I've hated this movie from the beginning let me just say this-I really do love Batman and that entire franchise; but I think that whoever the heck is handling it is doing a terrible job with publicity. I mean, look at this thing, it's boring! "Why So Serious", because its an idiotic face that looks like some Batman crazed kindergardener painted it (on a wall in the ghetto assuming from the background)! Yet for some reason there's no doubt in my mind that I'm going to1. See this movie2. Rave about how great it is (then have to do the toughest thing in the world:)3. Take back all my comments. But then again I might not, I mean if I didn't like Batman at all I would not be interested with this movie. They might have a chance to redeem themselves with their teaser trailers of the film sitting before 'I Am ... Movie News Monday: Indie>Mainstream?
2007-12-04 02:29:00 For another week the box office has suffered another average week. With its usual #1 holder 'Enchanted' making $17 million, and number 2 and 3 making under 10. The new hospital thriller 'Awake' starring Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen made a slight $6 million putting it in 4th place right under the action packed 3D film 'Beowulf'. Everything after the 5th spot only made $5 million or less!Such terrible news for mainstream Hollywood lately. As the WGA strike wages on, movie sales going lower and lower, and celebrities still raiding the streets like mad men! As they continue to spend millions upon millions of dollars to make movies that'll be lucky if they make $50 mill. It seems like there is no end to this torture! Yet, while we suffer, the indies are rejoicing! The best reviewed movie of this year 'No Country for Old Men' made its way into 995 theaters overall making 4.5 million dollars (which is pretty good for indies I'm assuming). While the indie films shoot up, Hol... Superhero-rama!: More depressing Sam Raimi!
2007-11-30 00:24:00 (Yes, I know this is late. Sorry...don't grind it into the ground for me) It seems that mr. Raimi is really trying to give us a bit of a fright about Spidey 4. In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources where he is asked about the writing in the 4th installment in the epic comic book series he says thatSam: If I was writing it I would have a very strong opinion about that, but we're hiring a writer to come up with his own take. Sony was willing to go either way, we'll just have to wait and see what the writer comes up with. I think anything's possible, though.I mean, there's been so many different versions, it doesn't have to follow the movies that we've made. I'd very much like to see Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, so I have a personal interest in that, but certainly anything's possible. Spider-Man's such a big character in the comic books that he could endure a lot of different interpretations. You could start over or you could start with a different aspect of the sto... This Christmas Review
2007-11-26 22:05:00 Woo-hoo! I am back from my Thanksgiving hiatus, and I'm bringing you a much needed 'This Christmas ' review. I'm seeing a lot of mixed feelings on this movie, so I, Drock, will be bringing you the only opinion that matters....Mine :)'This Christmas' from the previews looks like some typical black Christmas film right?(mostly) Wrong. I mean, yes, the movie is geared towards the black community, and yes, there may or may not be some things you won't understand if you are not black, but unlike most black films, that won't really stop you from enjoying it. But if you're intending on seeing this movie just because its "Christmas Oriented" you're really not gonna get what you want. Christmas is just used as a reason to explain why so many people are in one little house at once, but beyond that and a few Santa mentions that's all your gonna get for Christmas Spirit in this movie. This movie has great (new) conflict in it. It does have the occasional typical things in it (coughchea... More About: Review
Movie News Monday: First Blood's Been Spilled!
2007-11-20 00:00:00 That title doesn't really sound like it should have a exclamation mark over it does it? But it's exciting! The movie biz has taken it's first casualty today in the ongoing war: WGA Vs. Hollywood. Beyond some negation meetings, due to the ongoing WGA strike the much anticipated prequel to 'The Da Vinci Code'; 'Angels and Demons' has been delayed!Sony Columbia had planned to release the film by next holiday season but now it's moved all the way back to May 15, 2009! The studio released a brief statement saying that although they think the script was "very strong", that it just isn't the "fully realized production draft required of this ambitious project." Trying to confuse America with big words and fancy wording eh Sony? All I know is, you better not delay Spider-Man 4. Or its on.Think that would be it for the WGA? Oh, not yet. United Artists' are now taking writing deficiency bombs as well! United Artists' Pinkville, another movie about Vietnam (# 2,000,002), was co-writ... More About: News , Movie , Monday
What Drock Thinks
2007-11-17 02:43:00 Another slow week for us movie lovers. Seems like the only thing anyones reporting about is the WGA strike and how its gonna affect everyone in a matter of months. But jeez, the dang thing seems to be holding the industry back from providing any other interesting news! I know its important and what not but its becoming like a replayed story on CNN (which it most likely is).Really, if I see one more headline about 'Strike attacks late night shows' or 'Will (insert TV channel here) be hurt?'. Heres the problem with the first one-no, both. We already know! Don't worry; you can't cross the movie news street without seeing something about the WGA. So here's an idea...let's still report on it, but move on somewhat! Cause if next week for Movie News Monday if i have nothing better to report about other than that strike I'm going on a world rant. But, I must give the strike some major props. Wow. Look how much you've (including your kids) shut down the world! Good job. I'm going ...
Superhero-rama!: Is this the end of Sam Raimi?
2007-11-15 00:33:00 Getting right down to business, there was a pretty depressing interview between Wizard Magazine and Sam Raimi . Of course the topic was if he was coming back to direct Spider-Man 4 or not (if there is a God, he will). Although, his words weren't to uplifting.First: Looking back, you've worked on Spider-Man in some way for nearly eight years. Has the excitement stayed with you?RAIMI: I'm just as excited about the character, and so in that sense, yes. Although the physical energy level between how I felt before I started shooting versus what was left of me on the last day of photography, I was so exhausted at the end of "Spider-Man 3" I can't tell you. My love for the characters and my passion for the stories are the same, but I was just a shell of the person that I was after all of those movies.Oh that's real reassuring. But it gets better!Second: If you had to take a break and pick a director to replace you on the franchise, is there anyone at the top of your list?RAIMI: Becaus... More About: Superhero
Movie News Monday: Bees vs. Gangster
2007-11-12 23:01:00 Well who didn't see this one coming. Both only in their second week in theatres (well atleast for 'Bee Movie ') and there is already some stirring. Jerry Seinfeld's critically acclaimed 'Bee Movie' has beaten down the much controverted 'American Gangster ' by the slight margin of $1.7 million dollars; with 'Bee Movie' ultimately making $26 million and 'American Gangster' oh so close behind with $24.3 million. I just have one thing to say to you guys...Did I not call this? ;)And maybe there is some hope for the case of WGA vs. Hollywood! Supposedly (remember, supposedly is a big IF) there are some "Two major Hollywood agents" (unnamed though...hmm) working behind the scenes with Dave Young of the WGA to smooth out the edges (nice eh?). How I think that's gonna work out? Horribly. I think what Hollywood needs to do is get someone a bit more neutral to try and negotiate with them. Sending "major Hollywood agents" is basically sending the people their pissed off at in a slig... More About: News , Bees , Monday
What Drock Thinks
2007-11-10 01:07:00 What an eventful week eh? With the WGA going on strike, no superhero movie news (that I liked) and American Gangster, over much controversy, still coming out on top at the box office. Now I'm not going to rant about bootlegs again this week (but they're still wrong) I'm just really concerened for us movie lovers in the months to come.Yes, as of now the WGA strike is only affecting major TV shows usually in the late night variety (but i love the Colbert Report!), but who's to say in a month or two (if it lasts that long) that us moviegoers wont be affected. I already posted about how many studios are locked and loaded to counter attack this money stealer of a strike byUsing the scripts they already have that are completed.Have the actors improv scenes if they so choose (Oh God).Give actors more opportunites to write scripts as long as there is no affiliation with the WGA.Jeez. None of those really sound good. How many actors are actually good at improv? What if the script needs s...
Superhero-rama!: MORE Sequels! -_-
2007-11-08 00:30:00 Yeah, see the enthusiasm there? Well lets start off with the ever so popularTRANSFORMERS WATCHTransformers 2 has a Production designer! Nigel Phelps is the new man for T2 and he's already worked with the special effects loving Michael Bay in 'Pearl Harbor' and 'The Island' and is also working on the new Mummy film! Hmm, not the most interesting T2 news, but get over yourself.End Transformers Watch :)Heard that an Avengers movie is not gonna happen? Yeah, that was MTV's fault (they can't do music, they cant report...what can they do?). Due to 'misinterpretation' (aka someone not paying attention) reporters released news that 'The Avengers' prolly wasn't gonna happen, yet it is. Calm down all you Avengers lovers (if there are any of you). Read more about the mix up here. So, there's now an INTERNATIONAL IRON MAN TEASER! Woo! Eh, not really. It's quite sucky if ya ask me, and I'm not a big fan of Iron Man anyway. Check it out and tell me what ya think.'The Dark Knight' ... More About: Sequels , Superhero
Movie News Monday
2007-11-05 22:08:00 Well much to everyone's demise the WGA has gone on strike, causing many TV shows like the funny mans excuse for news shows The Colbert Report and The Daily Show are gonna be gone for a while (great, news shows I actually WATCH are gone). But for us movie lovers, we aren't expected to be hit for a while if it lasts that long.Due to the nature of movie scripts being done way before the movie even starts shooting or production we should be fine for a couple months...Hopefully. Today's Daily Variety show has reported that some studios are going to allow actors to improv some scenes and even write them as long as they're not a part of WGA. I doubt that'll work out that well. How many Hollywood actors know anything about theater basics? We all know about 80% of have no brain anyway...In other news (love saying that) "American Gangster" conquered the box office (yes i said CONQUERED. Not "swatted" like a lot of those idiotic news reporters are saying...Jeez creativity lacking much?) m... More About: News , Movie , Monday
Special Sunday Editon of What Drock Thinks
2007-11-04 17:36:00 Yes, I thought I would be delaying this post a bit but after seeing the monstrosity that I have seen and experience for the past week I cant hold out much longer. Explain one thing to me America, what is the satisfaction that you get by destroying peoples careers? What is the point of bootlegs!?It all started when I was at school late for rehearsal and some random kid I have never talked to in my life walks up to me and says "You wanna see that American Gangster?" Well yeah, I do but I'm dumbfounded as to why someone I've never talked to before is starting a conversation with that. Simply I reply "Yeah, why?"."I got it," he says. No. Way. He proceeds to tell me about how he really has it and how he'll sell it to me for some stupid amount of money (that prolly cost more than it would to see it legally). Then not a day later I go into my local barber shop only to find that the barber next to me has a full box of copies and is advertising them like this was a real type of business.N... Superhero-rama!: Jeez, goor galore!
2007-11-01 20:34:00 Heh, catchy title, no? Well the long awaited sequel to Alien Vs. Predator is here! Psyche (oh I know, I'm so mean)! We just have a trailer, but don't fret! It's pretty good actually. I warn you though, its pretty gory (ok not really. 2 heads blow up and you see like 1 splash of blood. Oh, and if Alien blood scares you then you might not like it -_-). Although IGN requires you to enter in a "valid" age (wink, wink)... Check it out here.REJOICE SPIDEY FANS! We have a writer for "Spider-Man 4"! (Drumroll please) It is James Vanderbilt. Didn't know anything about him, till I looked him up a bit. Writing for Zodiac, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, puts you pretty up there in my book. Apparently he was chosen cause he focuses on his characters more than his special effects (coughMichaelBaycough).
