Glass Tile
2008-03-11 20:41:00 If you read my blog regularly, you know that last November my family and I moved to a new State. We?ve been busy these past few months unpacking, organizing, painting and remodeling. It has been a little overwhelming at times. Yet at times it has been fun. The changes a simple coat of paint can make to a room is amazing. We are presently researching new kitchen appliances. We are also thinking of remodeling our kitchen a little too. Something that is reasonably priced, yet can make your kitchen pop is a glass tile back splash. From what I have read glass tile has been very popular in Europe for some time. It is now becoming the newest and hottest kitchen renovation here in the States. Especially in California, Florida and New York. I have been reading up on Wholesalers USA who provide a complete line of Giorbello glass tile at near wholesale prices.I don?t know if we can afford a whole kitchen renovation. However I really think a new back splash and maybe new hardware on the... More About: Glass
Any Big Brother Fans Out There??
2008-03-11 02:42:00 It was brought to my attention at Friday’s bunco night that I haven’t written my thoughts on this season’s reality show Big Brother .A serious and thought provoking topic I know! :o)I think your impression of this year’s cast depends on one thing. If you are faithfully (yet naively) watching the show 3 days a week… ...OR if you know (and perhaps have SEEN) more then you may have wanted too on the website realitybbq.comYeah… this site has a way of causing you to see the show in a different light. It has sort of ruined it for me. Let's just say it has taken some of the innocence away.Anyway, I’m curious to hear what people are thinking of this season. I'd love to know what you think of BB9. Web Hosting
2008-03-11 01:10:00 Approximately 5 months ago I started my blog. My girlfriend suggested that I register my domain. She said it was easier for people to remember and it was “the” thing to do in world of blogging. I was naive and blindly registered my name without a lot of knowledge or information. This probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do.I feel it is never too late to educate yourself, even on topics that you may find intimidating. I’m faking it out here in the land of the Internet. I am just looking for a place to express my thoughts and record the daily life of my family. With all that said, I took some time today to read up on the web hosting company kaushalsheth.com recommended. What I honestly liked about Kaushal sheth's guide to web hosting was the simple language used on this site. It has been written for someone like me. Meaning you do not need a lot of web experience or web domain experience to understand this site's information. They listed the top 3 web hosting compa... The bunco night that wasn't
2008-03-10 23:42:00 So my friends and I want to start a monthly bunco group. We have a lot of people interested, unfortunately finding a day when we can all get together is proving difficult.Last Friday I hosted our first gathering. We need at least 12 people. We had 10 people confirmed, however only 8 people showed. We can play with a couple of ghost players, but 4 is just too many. So no bunco for us.Still it was a lot of fun. A group of friends together sharing wine and great conversation, what is better then that? It is always nice to relax and laugh with friends. It seems like the older my kids get, the busier I become. I think I forget to exhale sometimes. So nights like this allows me that luxury. As for bunco.. we are hoping for a better showing in April! :o) More About: Night , Bunco
Is that a great idea?
2008-03-07 03:42:00 Today my daughter wanted to discuss babies. She went into great detail about how when she was a baby she had to wear a diaper. After much discussion on the use of the potty she threw a suggestion my way."We should buy a baby mom. Is that a great idea?"I laughed. How could I not!?!She went on and on about how we would then have to buy baby things for the baby. Of course the conversation went back to diapers and how we'd have to buy them for the baby too. "Please mommy, can we buy a baby?" she asked again. I tried to tell her that Daddy and I were happy with the two kids we had."No Mommy, you need a baby too".Well, although I love babies and will cherish my memories of the kids when they were little, there won't be any more. I'm sure my little girl would of made a great big sister though. More About: Great , Idea , Great Idea
Swimming Lessons
2008-03-06 02:27:00 Yesterday my kids started swimming lessons. The last time I took them we were living in California. I remember (as a mom) it was painful to watch. The instructors there took the saying ?sink or swim? to heart. However near the end of the summer my kids were overcoming their fears. So with that said I signed them both up for beginner lessons. They were separated into classes by their age.I watched my daughter happily blew bubbles, and played ?ring around the rosie?. She also practiced her kicking (on her front and her back). She was beaming as she left the pool. In fact on the way home I laughed when she asked if she could be a mermaid when she grew up. :o)Then there was my son?He sat by himself on the pool steps. He did not participate in his class. He was too scared. It broke my heart. Yet, I know he can do it. He just needs to build his confidence up again.I think that half hour at the pool was harder on me then it was for him. More About: Swimming , Lessons
Online Shopping Carts
2008-03-05 00:15:00 Have you heard of Ashop Commerce before? You may have. So many of us stay-at-home moms also host small businesses online part-time. It is a great way to bring in extra money. My girlfriend used to run a small doggy gift basket store on-line. She did really well when it came to orders. Her one complaint was finding a user-friendly shopping cart. She found a lot of the software hard to use. She even said she had lost business over it.Last summer my friend put her business on hold when she had her third baby. She was slightly over-whelmed with three kids all under the age of 5! (Who wouldn?t be??) However I know she hopes to start it back up again in the next year. From what I have read about different ecommerce software, Ashop Commerce offers what online business owners need and want. I am going to pass on what I have learnt to my friend. If you are a merchant you might want to check it out too. More About: Shopping , Online , Online shopping
Bunco Babes
2008-03-04 23:52:00 Have you played bunco before? It seems to be the latest crave among us stay-at-home moms. It is a dice game and you need 12 people to play it. It is easy and it is fun. Best of all it is a chance to get out of he house, relax and socialize with your friends and neighbors. My girlfriend and I have been talking forever about starting our own group. It is one thing to talk about it and to actually do something. I finally took the step and sent out an evite to our group of friends. The response has been more then positive. We are having our first bunco night this Friday at my house. It will rotate monthly after. So really, if you look at it, you only have to host it once a year.It should be a lot of fun. Wine, food, and friends? what more could you ask. Oh yeah! There will also be dice, a bell and a small stuffed animal that gets thrown around the room too. Laughs are guaranteed! I?ll let you know how it goes More About: Babes , Bunco
Our Crafty Weekend
2008-03-04 05:48:00 Our weekend started off crafty.Literally. Ha, ha!Friday I had purchased a couple of craft kits at Michaels Craft Store. That night after dinner my husband and I kept busy helping the kids construct a solar system and a princess castle. They were thrilled even though they were forced to do more watching then actual building at times. Lets just say a 3 year old and a hot glue gun do not mix. I truly believed these kits were going to be more kid friendly. Still they were happy and in the end that is all that matters. It was fun family time.On Saturday my husband took the kids to Home Depot for their monthly kid's craft day. This month they were making airplanes, which is something my kids have already done. However they were offering leftovers from past projects, so my kids excitedly picked bug catchers to make instead. They came home BEAMING. However their excitement quickly disappeared as there are no bugs outside catch yet! I?m sure they?ll make good uses of them this summer though... More About: Weekend

2008-03-04 05:19:00 If you read my blog regularly you know I am a stay at home mom. This means a sacrifice financially for our family. However, this is one sacrifice I do not mind making. I am thrilled to be home with my kids while they are young. I know I am lucky to be able to do so.I don?t know how this will sound, but sometimes I really miss having my own money. I should probably explain, right? My husband is a great husband and father. Together we have set up a monthly budget and we both follow it as best we can. Sometimes unexpected expenses come up, and that is to be expected. With all that said I do not feel strapped financially. We are both smart with our money and it allows me to afford little treats like a weekly Starbucks. So when I say I miss having my own money, what I?m trying to say is I miss my independence. Or maybe it is the ability to enjoy guilt-free shopping. I don?t know if any one else feels this way, but I hate to spend money on myself. I feel guilty when I do. Th... Kindergarten Report
2008-03-02 17:29:00 Last week my husband and I went in and met with our son?s Kindergarten teacher. It was parent/teacher conference week. Since we moved in November, this was our first opportunity to really sit down and talk with his new teacher. In the past, when I have tried to get feed back on how my son was adjusting to his new class I would be told how ?kind? he is. More specifically what a ?kind gentle soul? he was.Nice words, yes. Still I never really got the answers I needed. After spending half an hour and hearing (again) what a kind gentle soul my son was, I did walk out with a better understanding of how my son is doing and the type of student he is.He is right where he should be academically (yeah). She finds him to be an observer who would rather first watch how others attempt a task before he jumps in. This maybe a sign that he is a bit of a perfectionist. When he does something, he wants it done right the first time. You know we are all born with little personalities. I see myself in my s... More About: Report
Big, Big News!!!
2008-03-02 04:29:00 Okay? so this is considered ?big news? only in my house. Still, as a Mom, I can?t help but share.During dinner tonight we discovered my 6 year old son has a lose tooth! I can?t believe he is old enough to be losing teeth. Gee? they really do grow up to quickly. (Sorry, I can?t help but be sappy).Any way, my little boy is excited. He wanted to call everyone! From friends to family members. Then he came up with an even bigger idea. He thinks we should make posters and hang them up around the neighborhood. So EVERYONE will know!Isn?t that sweet? As adults, how often do we really get excited like he is now? We don?t really, do we? It is just precious to watch. He is full of excitement, plus pride?and a little pinch of interpretation. Pledge of Allegiance
2008-02-29 21:24:00 Last week my son came home from Kindergarten and proudly showed me his gold medal and ?Citizenship Award? certificate for learning the Pledge of Allegiance . This will go into his keepsake box for sure. I just can't believe how big he is getting. Where did my little 3 year old boy go?
Rummoli
2008-02-27 04:33:00 This past weekend we had some friends over to play Rummoli. Until now they had never heard of this game in which I grew up playing. They kept forgetting the name and started calling it ?Shamoli? or ?Rigatoni? each time they won a round. It was a lot of fun. I highly recommend Rummoli if you are looking for a new game to play when friends come by.When I was a kid we were allowed to play with all my Aunts and Uncles when we?d get together for barbecues or a special family get togethers. We?d play for pennies and I remember coming out a head by a dollar or two sometimes. It was a huge thrill for a 7 year old.I can?t wait until my kids get a little older so I can introduce this game.... and no this is not a paid endorsement. I just really love this game. I have a lot of fond memories playing it. :o)
Reality TV Junkie
2008-02-25 21:49:00 I love reality TV. Or at least I did. There were always what I considered to be ?fringe shows?. This is probably a poor way to term what I considered sleazy reality shows. I have always avoided those ones. However, I enjoy shows like Survivor and Hells Kitchen. My all time favorite one would be the Amazing Race.I will admit to watching Big Brother. In the summer when not much is on, it was a fun show to watch. So I will admit I was interested when I heard there would be a winter Big Brother. Okay, I will even admit that I am watching it faithfully right now. But I am embarrassed and not proud.Big Brother was always close to being a fringe reality show. I know. Still the houseguests for the most part had some morals.Oh gosh, I?m using the word morals!!!! I must just be getting old. Seriously.Any way, they are not showing the ?questionable? or should I say ?risqu? happenings in the house. All you need to do is visit YouTube or type a few key words into Google to find out though. Why ... More About: Reality , Junkie
Did you see it?
2008-02-21 17:58:00 Could you view the lunar eclipse from your part of the world last night? I hope so!We were lucky to have a beautiful clear night to see it. It tends to be overcast with rain every day during the winter, so this was a treat. I really didn't think we'd get to view it. The kids found it all very fascinating. In their minds the sun and moon were meeting up and becoming friends. :o)
Happy Cupid's Day!
2008-02-15 02:05:00 I think once you have kids, Valentine's Day becomes more for them. My son had a ice-cream party in his Kindergarten class today. He came home beaming with his decorated bag, now filled with Valentines from his friends. My daughter attended a little party this week as well. She decorated (and ate) sugar cookies and made Valentine crafts. They just Valentine's Day.As for me? Well, my husband and I don?t normally make a big deal out of Valentine?s Day. We exchange cards and either go out for dinner or have it delivered. This year he is bringing home my favorite food ? Chinese! We will spend tonight watching Lost on TV. It will be a perfect night in my eyes. Either we are very realistic individuals or just plain old and boring !Happy Valentine?s Day everyone.

Our Bonus Room is Done!
2008-02-13 02:47:00 Where have the days gone? This weekend seemed to fly right by.The construction in our bonus room is now complete! Yeah! You'd never know a closet once stuck out of that wall. It has really opened the room.I did some painting this weekend. Two of the four walls are painted. I'm a big believer of paint. A new coat of paint can totally change the look of a room. Of course when your room is half purple and half blue anything would be an improvement. :o)Today the workers came and took their tools and supplies. So I'll be able to attack the last two walls this weekend. Then I am done! I've done way too much painting these past 3 months!Ha, ha!Hey, at least I can still laugh about it. Hannah Montana Anyone?
2008-02-09 07:30:00 I probably only get out to the movie theatre once or twice a year. Baby sitters are expensive?and so is the movie theater popcorn.Anyway I jumped at the opportunity last Saturday to go to the matinee showing of Juno with a girlfriend. It is a wonderful movie. I highly recommend seeing it. Seriously! Go see it! You won?t be disappointed. Just hide some candy and a bottle of water in your purse. It will save you $20.I wanted to share what happened AFTER the movie. It was the oddest thing. We were heading towards the exit and passed by a small group of preteens entering the lobby. I couldn't help but notice the girls squealing with excitement.Immediately I found myself searching the lobby. Obviously there must be a celebrity among us. Why else would they be shirking, jumping up and down AND saying things like "Oh My God!!!" For a (very) brief moment I became excited. Who was here? George Clooney? Brad Pitt? Oh, the possibilities! My friend quickly enlightened me. These girls were going... More About: Hannah , Montana , Hannah Montana
Bright Lights!
2008-02-08 06:32:00 We've been getting a lot of little things done in our new house lately. I maybe boring people with my constant pictures and descriptions of it all. This is my life right now though. I'm sort of stuck in the house with the dog and kids. Trying my best to keep them out of the way, while our house gets worked on.One of the things we really wanted done was to add lights in the kids' bedrooms. Until this week they only had their lamps (that sat on their night stands) for light. So this will make a big difference. All our construction (big and small) should be done on Monday. I'm ready to take my house back and finally get settled in. This is all worth it though. Little things can really make a big difference. Plus our house is really starting to feel like ours now. It is feeling more like a home now too. More About: Bright , Lights
Our Fish
2008-02-07 04:22:00 I thought I should update you on our little fish, Buddy and Mermaid. They are doing well (knock on wood). I'm so paranoid that we are over (or under) feeding them. I even worry that cleaning the bowl with fresh water will make them sick... Who knew owning fish could be so stressful - ha, ha!Any way, the kids are enjoying them. I'll even admit that they are fun to watch. They like taking turns chasing one another around the tank. They can pick up some major speed and when one stops they tend to body slam each other. Then they just turn around and start all over again.Yes, I have no life! ;o) More About: Fish
Dusting
2008-02-05 19:46:00 Okay, let me just say I?m a little odd. However, I had to take these pictures. Before the painters came, I went up and inspected the hallway shelves. We moved in about 2 months ago, and I haven?t paid much attention to the hallway.Anyway, this is our upstairs hallway. You can see my son?s room at the end (with the pictures taped to it). I think it is save to say the previous owners were not big on dusting. Okay? I?ll admit I probably won?t be much better either. Still, if I was selling a house and moving out I would of cleaned it. That?s just me though. Thanks to my vacuum cleaner, followed by a wet rag my hallway was sparkling clean and ready to be painted. So, yes, I think I have hit an all time low. Blogging about dust? Oh, what an exciting life I lead!
New Walls
2008-02-04 18:23:00 If you read my blog, you know I have done a lot of painting since we moved into our new home in November. There are some rooms that I shied away from though. For example the bathrooms? I really didn?t want to deal with removing a toilet tank and painting around light fixtures and sinks. As well, the staircase ceiling is maybe 18 feet high or more. Even if I had the right type of ladder for stairs, I would have been seriously nervous attempting to paint it.So on Fridays, two painters arrived at my house. They were here all day, and painted the remainder of our house (except for our bonus room ? where the closet we removed ? as it isn?t done yet). Now I feel like I live in a brand new home. It really is amazing how fresh paint can make such a big difference. When we moved in our walls were filled with holes (small and large), and chipped and faded paint. Now our walls look brand new. I just love it. I seriously see why people often have their house painted before they put i... More About: Walls
Construction
2008-02-03 17:10:00 This week, the closet in the above picture was removed. I hate to lose storage space, but with it gone we will have a nice rectangle shaped room. We plan to make this area into a TV and toy room. And yes... we will be painting it! :o)The previous owners had the closet added to the room when the house was being built. This is our guess anyway. They had two pre-teen girls sharing this large room. This explains the two very distinctive color choices that divide the room presently. (They also used a sheet for further division and privacy).I can?t wait for the work to be completed. We?ve been promised that it will be done by the end of this upcoming week. Where is the white stuff?
2008-01-31 04:55:00 My friends back home are probably laughing at this picture. Yes, this little sprinkle of snow cancelled Kindergarten on Monday. I know it doesn?t look like much, but the roads were icy and near-by areas did receive a lot more snow then us.The kids and I spent the day organizing their toys. It was over-due. We sorted and boxed up some toys they no longer play with. Okay, it wasn?t very exciting, but it was needed. I think my son was overly excited to go to school the next day. He was probably afraid I would put it to work again if he had to stay home. LOL! More About: White , Stuff
Our Little Fish
2008-01-29 06:33:00 Our friend?s son celebrated his 3rd Birthday this weekend with a Spiderman pizza and swimming party. It was a lot of fun!The pool had a beach entrance design making it perfect for the little ones. Everyone was having a lot of fun until the enclosed slide opened up. All the kids wanted to give it a try. So with life jackets on (and a Dad in the water ready to scoop them out) the smaller kids started sliding down.My daughter determinedly climbed up the staircase. She then decided to go against the suggested form of sliding (sitting up on your bum) and went feet first on her tummy. This technique caused her to pick up some major speed and she flew down the slide and into the water. Yikes! Let?s just say she was a little traumatized. My poor girl. :o) flying out of the slide!!! I need to Quit
2008-01-26 19:14:00 Okay... here goes...I am addicted to Coke. The soda variety, that is.I used to say things like, "I could have worse habits" or "I don't drink coffee, so I need to get my caffeine fix this way".I can easily pass up a Pepsi or 7-Up. I only crave the taste of Coke. My secret New Years Resolution was to quit drinking Coke all together. I know that if you are not a soda drinker, this must sound crazy. However, I seriously crave it and I just can't go cold turkey. I wouldn't have it in the house, except my dear husband is "a user". In fact, he is the one who introduced me to the evil substance. I was never much of a soda drinker until we started living together. My hubby is not ready to admit to his addiction and give it up. So I am on my own with this one!Any way, the other day my friend sent me this horrid link about the effects of drinking Coke. It got me thinking...I need to seriously stop drinking the stuff. Are you a soda drinker? If you are, read the information below (and click ... More About: Quit
Buddy the Fish
2008-01-24 00:09:00 A couple of weeks ago my son's Kindergarten teacher brought gold fish into the class room. My son came home very excited. He told me all about them. The best part being that once the class was done learning about them, the students could take one home if they brought in a note from their parents.Needless to say he wanted a note!So last Friday I wrote a note to his teacher. I said that he had permission to take a fish home when the time came.Well guess who came bounding out of his class room that afternoon with a zip lock bag full of water and one little fish??!! I wasn't prepared!!After depositing "Buddy " into a large flower vase we went out to Walmart and purchased our new pet a proper bowl and food. How ever... I already had some concerns. For a young little gold fish, Buddy wasn't too lively.Friday night I went out with a few girlfriends. When I got home little buddy was no longer a live. We didn't even have Buddy for a full 12 hours, but my son was already attached. He was h... More About: Fish

However this was her first class since we moved back in November. This class asks the parents to sit outside of the room. This will put a hamper on my picture and video taking. I took this picture through the window, and as you can see it didn?t turn out that well. However my little girl was BEAMING when she left the class, and that is all that matters! As for me and my camera?
