Sort Of Wedding Related

Okay, so this might not be TOTALLY wedding related, but I just needed to brag, lol. I am getting a new cell phone, a nokia 6682. It has a built in camera with flash and 6x digital zoom. It can also take video. This is, of course, going to have some effect on my blog. As my regular readers know, I love sharing wedding worth finds from online stores that aren’t actually from wedding stores. Now, I will be able to take pictures when I am out shopping in the mall to!! Oh, I can just see it now, pulling stuff off shelves to make “arrangements” to photograph for the blog… Hubby is going to kill me, lol. Anyway, that was my brag moment:) Jealous? Tell your fiance you need one, lol - for wedding planning of course - you know, so you can take pictures of chance finds, or while you are trying on dresses, etc? How dreamy is this!

I came across this yesterday and would love to have this at my wedding. I’m getting married in my parents’ garden, so I thought the topiaries could line the aisle. My colour scheme is lime green and aqua blue with a smattering of cream, so I wonder if it will look as gorgeous with green or blue tulle instead of the white. If not, the cream could do!

Hello, I was so happy to find your site.its so helpful. My question is how do I get my hubby to be more involved with the planning? whenever I bring up the subject he rolls his eyes and sighs. I feel like all I do is talk about the wedding because I never get answers from him. Our wedding is 9 months away(May 25, 2007) It took us almost months just to decide on a place.for the ceremony at this rate we will never get anything done. Winter Beach Wedding

You’ve always dreamed of a wedding on the beach. You wonderful boyfriend decided to pop the question this summer and now you have a decision to make: Short engagment with an indoor wedding or long engagement so you can have your beach wedding. For some, a long engagement is fine. Personally, I much preferred having a short one. If you want a beach wedding, but don’t want a long engagement - a destination wedding may be the answer for you! Shells For Your Wedding

Seashells are great for a summer beach wedding or destination wedding. While logically I know that there are different types of shells, i never realized how many shapes and sizes are available! From unique to elegant, there is probably a shell out there that will match your style. Seashells can be used in many areas of the wedding: invitations, place cards, table markers, wedding cake, bouquets, pew bows, guestbook, centerpeices, favors, and more. Larger Seashells, like the second one shown below, can actually be used as a bouquet holder for the bride, bridesmaids and/or centerpieces as well! Setting Your Priorities

As some of you know, I am renewing my wedding vows in just under 3 years. Yes, I am planning already, lol. I have been working on setting a budget, and as I do, some of the advice that I have given brides over the years is coming back at me. Rightnow, I am reminding myself to set priorities. I would love to have the best hair dresser flown in from LA, an amazing dressmaker brought in from Paris, a personal new york chiropractor flown in to keep me stress free, a covergirl photographer and makeup artist, a steak and lobster dinner for 500 of my closest friends and family, etc…… Realistically, my budget does not allow for any of those things. Some of them may seem strange- but celebrities do these things all the time. I’m not a celebrity, lol. So, the first thing I tell brides to do is make a priorities list. Small starfish can be used to decorate each wedding invitation, program, placemarker or table marker. 2. Place Starfish on your wedding cake, in your centerpeice, in your flowers, or in garlands used for decor. 3. A large starfish can also make a great wedding favor. A few weeks ago, we posted a great summer beach wedding guestbook that was only $29. Today I was visiting the Once Upon A Family website were I found that album and discovered that it is part of a series with a number of great, affordable ablums that would work as guest books:) The neat thing is that they are affordable enough that you could get matching albums for your wedding photos and honeymoon photos without breaking your budget!   This is the Thanksgiving Ablum and would be perfect for a fall wedding. Taking themes to the extreme

I LOVE weddings - and all things wedding related. I spend a lot of time researching weddings, getting ideas, etc. I have seem some far out things but I have to admit, when this crossed my desk this morning, I was surprised. Not often do I see something so different that I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before. The bride, Murdanalee Hagedorn - went all out with her John Deere themed wedding - from logo printed bridesmaid gowns to logo printed ring pillows. The bride arrived at the ceremony on a hay wagon pulled by a john deere tractor. The groom, Roy Cate, arrived aboard a antique John Deere Tractor. The bridesmaids even wore rubber boots for this Walla Walla, Washington wedding. While I am not sure I am a fan of those bridesmaid outfits - I have to admit: if unique and unforgetable is what she was going for, she hit the nail on the head.

Wedding planning is stressful and a lot of the attention is on us. The guys tend to get a bit lost in the mix most of the time. So, your wedding date is here and you guys made it through all that. DIY Gerbera Daisy Invitations

Today we printed out the first half of Joanne’s wedding invitations. The front of the card has a small square with a gerbera daisy in the bottom corner. The guests names are printed next to the square. Inside, I made a pale orange background with orange gerbera daisies in the bottom corner and a darker orange outline. We bought photo-quality cardstock paper - 50 sheets for $15! We will only need about 20 sheets. They are printed two per page, cut and folded in half. We are also making matching tags for the wedding favors that will be printed on some of the extra pages. I am also going to use the same design to decorate her guest book (watch for pictures in the near future:))

Sand Dollar Wedding Theme

We are well into August, and you would think that beach weddings are coming to an end - but beach weddings: at destination locations: are actually quite popular during wedding months as well. And, if you are planning a beach wedding for next summer, end of season sales are a great way to save some money on your next decorating needs.  So, if beach weddings interest you, you will love these sand dollars. Sand dollars are beautiful and make a great beach wedding theme. Large sand dollars (3-4″) can be used as keepsake wedding favors: just tie each one with a raffia bow and a personalized tag. Medium sizes make great decor peices. You can use a magic marker or gell pen to write on them and use them as place markers or table markers. Can?t decide where to host your event? If you live in Cali fornia , I suggest getting the book ?Here Comes The Guide ? which has an endless number of locations to research. The book also includes some of those important questions on pricing, deposit requirements and number of guests the location will hold. I received this book when planning my wedding and it was a huge help in deciding which locations I wanted to visit. They have a northern & southern California edition available, and they are always keeping it up-to-date. They also have a website that also has a good amount of information available. My Wedding Ring

Next month, I am buying a wedding set. Those who know me, know that I have been married over 7 years already. 7 years ago, my husband and I decided last minute to push up our wedding date, and ended up planning our wedding in 2 weeks! We had a beautiful wedding, with 200 guests and a full dinner/dance reception - I have no regrets - but one of the things we did not have time to get was a wedding ring. I borrowed my mother’s wedding ring for the occasion and shortly after the wedding, we bought a silver set for me to use until we could afford the kind of set I wanted - the plan was to get it for our 1st anniversary. What I Bought: 576 Orange Rose Petals Price: The price, including shipping, came to $14.12 US. This is a mid-line price for the quality. They carry some colors that would be hard to find other places, like orange, lime green, etc. Shipping: I received my items 1week. Overall Opinion: The petals were shipped stacked very tightly and they had to be pulled apart which took a little time. They are not silk - they are fiber, but there are very pretty and have a wonderful color. We will be using them for centerpieces and they are beautiful when bunched together. What I Bought: Fingertip 2 tiered ribbon edge veil, silver tiara and pearl necklace/earrings set. Price: All 3 items, including shipping to Canada was less then $60. More things decided

On Sunday Chris and I have decided on a DJ. We are going with a company called Sound of Success. They came in under our budget by 500 dollars which is great since we way under budgeted our pictures. We have 24 hour access to a database where we can select songs we wanted played for certain things or just played throughout the evening. They also have a do not play list. We also can imput all the bridal party information and anything else we want them to know. I have really started looking into photographers and I am hoping to have an appointment with one next week if everything works out right. I am also talking with a friend who am I almost positive that I am going to be renting table linens from since my reception hall does not have the colors we want. Oh that reminds me.. we have also decided on the colors of our wedding. We are going with navy and baby blue. Well I think that is everything for now..  Until next time… Kirsten
