Mad Men? Don is a Dick?
2008-04-06 01:17:00
Mad Men is really hitting it’s stride now. For a couple of weeks it has been hinting at greatness, but now it is really getting me interested. This week Don won an award and got his picture in an advertising periodical. A few days later his half-brother, who is a bit of a loser appears. ...

He Kills Coppers - part 2
2008-04-05 16:13:00
The second episode of this fine ITV1 show was as gripping as the first, except for the boring bits with Billy’s mum. What is it with this woman? Is she Dot Cotton’s sister? Again this week the last five minutes of the show made the few boring bits in the middle all worth the journey, and ...

Dirty Sexy Money ep2
2008-04-04 16:13:00
While watching Dirty Sexy Money  last week I found myself asking a couple of questions over and over in my mind. Firstly, how is it that critics don’t like this show? It has a wonderful cast, and the characters are so over the top dysfunctional they make for just fun escapist TV. The other question I asked myself ...

dis/connected? more great teen telly
2008-04-04 02:08:00
What is it with teen dramas these days? They used to be crap when I was a teenager, now they are gritty, edgy and well pretty damn good! dis/connected (don’t ask me why there are no capital letters in the title) was another pilot made for the teen to twenties demographic BBC3 channel. It was so good ...

Skins, the most intelligent teen drama on the telly just keeps going from strength to strength, and last nights episode on E4 was no slacker. As usual I won’t give too much away for those of you planning to watch it later in the week when it airs on Channel4. What I will tell you ...

Skins? lets talk about Effy
2008-04-01 01:36:00
Every week the coolest teen show on telly (which is also loved by adults) focuses on one or two characters. Last week’s episode shifted it’s focus towards a character that normally only sits in the background, Tony’s younger sister Effy. We saw a little of her in the last series, but mostly Effy has been ...

Gossip Girl - teen telly for the Facebook generation
2008-03-31 02:24:00
OK, critics and telly addicts have been raving about this show since it made it’s UK debut here on Thursday, but I put off watching it for a number of reasons. Firstly, I don’t like the title, Gossip Girl ? I’m not sure what it is, but it just doesn’t make me want to watch the ...

Mysteries of the Soaps
2008-03-30 19:52:00
Shh don’t tell anyone but I am secretly addicted to Britain’s two biggest soap operas, Eastenders and Coronation Street . I know it isn’t the highest quality entertainment on television, but they fill the gap between day time and the good stuff that comes on in prime time. Recently though, I have started wondering who comes up with these story lines? ...

BBC Radio has gone REM crazy
2008-03-30 18:58:00
Gee do you think REM might have a new CD out here in the UK? Is the BBC who are not permitted to advertise promoting it hammer and tongs? Does anyone really care? These are all questions for you to decide, or if you don’t care, just pop over to the BBC Radio websites (links available from my ...

We are Multi-Colored
2008-01-09 01:42:00
Ever want to just win the lottery and buy a remote island and start your own country? Of course you have, we have all had that dream.Well this handy site, We are Multi -Colored, can't give you the power to create your own country, but it can help you design your own flag. Here is the one I created earlier, it represents my two homes, Canada and the United Kingdom!
Sign of Life
2008-01-07 11:40:00
The fantastic site that is run by the BBC has come up with a wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon. They have created a very fun and addictive interactive online occult thriller called Sign s of Life . Each episode of this eight part thriller includes games and puzzles that you solve while watching the story unfold. At the end of each episode is a test designed to give you an insight into your own personality. Personally I was addicted after the first episode, and think that anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller will also find this little bit of the web just as addictive. The best bit though, it is free!

Help the environment, make your own bag!
2007-12-20 17:36:00
Here in the UK as in other parts of the world there is a big push to get people to use less shopping bags. If you want to help make the planet survive a bit longer, maybe you should invest in a reusable cloth bag, or you could even make your own. The good people at Morsbags will even show you how!

Bargain Hunting
2007-12-18 18:22:00
People who don't use spell check have always been one of my pet peeves. Little did I know I can find a bargain on Ebay thanks to those so lazy they cannot even wait for the spell checker to run thanks to Typo HoundMany eBay auctions contain typos in the title listing. For example, 'toshiba' may be spelt 'toshia'. This means that when someone searches for ''toshiba', the misspelled 'toshia' is not shown. Thus no bids are placed on the 'toshia' auction entry.TypoHound generates common misspelled variants of the keyword. This allows you to find the elusive 'toshia' listing. Since no one else can find the auction with eBay search to bid on it, you bag yourself a bargain!

Sweeney Todd the Movie
2007-12-17 17:31:00
Early in 2008 us here in the UK will be treated to Tim Burton's new film Sweeney Todd , the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The website to promote the film though has been around for some time, and it is a pretty good one as film sites go. The best feature though it that you can cut your own trailer for the film, which is good fun and much harder then I thought it would be. Check out the site at http://www.sweeneytoddmovie.com/ I assure you it will be worth it!

The mighty cyberspace galaxy that is Google is about to get even bigger and probably better, as it prepares to unleash 'Knol' on us. Not to be outdone by Wikipedia the great brains behind Google have revealed their plans for Google Knol, short of course for Google Knowledge, which I understand will be a user-generated online encyclopedia. Currently in the planning stage, the good folks on planet Google say it will start inviting users to try it out in the next few months... hopefully this blogger (wink wink) will be one of the chosen few who get an advanced glimpse at what I am sure will be a useful source of knowledge, but you can be assured that I will keep you updated with all developments as they happen. In other site news, the mighty BBC website, BBC.co.uk have recently updated their homepage to make it so users can customise it for their own use. A fantastic idea, and one which might get me to switch my homepage from it's current setting. For anyone who has never visited the...

Blog of the Week

The Internet Now In Handy Book Form is a fantastically funny blog created by David McCandless. It contains strange pictures and funny little videos, but the best thing about this blog is his spoofs of other websites. He has spoofed everything from Wikipedia (creating Wookiepedia) to Facebook (Crackbook), and others. It is a wonderfully presented blog and great for a quick giggle.
