Frank Serpico Blog
2007-11-17 09:16:00
In the world of film, Serpico was played by the wonderful actor Al Pacino. I always thought that the movie, as fantastic as it is, was a bit exaggerated, pimped up, Hollywood style for artistic effect. Then I discovered the blog of the man behind the film, Frank Serpico. Now I am not so sure, I now think the film was toned down a bit.Frank Serpico's blog is not only filled with one man's ramblings, trying to find justice in an unjust world, but strangely is also dotted with wonderful poetry. It is a wonderful place to spend a few minutes of your day (or in my case and hour or so) reading the thoughts of not only an iconic figure, but also one of the few people in the world who is truly fighting to try and make the world a better and more just place. A word of warning though, sometimes Mr Serpico's passion for justice can appear a bit frightening, a bit radical. The Frank Serpico blog is the blogging world's equivalent of a man with a baseball bat trying to get his money in a din...

Funny or Die
2007-11-16 18:04:00
As the writers strike in the USA rambles on, essentially eliminating new shows from American television, I thought I would search the depths of cyberspace to find some alternatives to watch, to keep you entertained. My first discovery was this site, Funny or Die:Back in April funny-man Will Ferrell with a lot of other people's cash launched the website Funny or Die. It is sort of a YouTube type site dedicated to comedy. You may never have heard of the site, but you have probably heard of or seen the sites inaugural video The Landlord, in which Will is confronted by a two-year old who says "bitch" a lot. The success of that video (it has been watched 48,000,000+ times) has allowed Ferrell to attract other big names to the site.I found the site was well designed and easy to use., There is loads of different types of videos to view, most of which are funny, or at least highly amusing. I found it a fun site to search through, and it gives visitors the opportunity to see a lot of famous...

The Earth Rising over the Moon
2007-11-15 16:18:00
We have all probably seen the sun and the moon rise at least a few times in our lives. Have you ever seen the Earth rise though? Well me neither until today.Thank you to the Times for presenting me with this:"A blue Earth sets over the Moon ?s horizon in pictures released yesterday by the Japanese space agency JAXA. The images were taken by the Kaguya probe as it orbited the Moon at a distance of about 100 kilometres (62 miles). Kaguya, which is named after a girl carried into space by angels in a Japanese fairy tale, is part of the most detailed lunar mapping project since the American Apollo missions that began in the Sixties."

Russell Brand for Mayor
2007-11-15 16:00:00
Russell Brand the famous drug addict sex-fiend, turned comedian, turned Radio/Television personality, turned author (well sort of) hinted at running to become the new mayor of London. Now some boffins have started and Online petition to get Russell to run. Mr. Brand stated on his radio show that he didn't want to run unless he was going to win. Who would really? So the creator of the petition is hoping that if enough people sign up, then Brand might throw his hat in the ring and run.Personally I would love to see him as the new Mayor , he would certainly do a better job then Ken, and he is slightly funnier then Boris. So pop over and sign the petition if you want.... http://www.russellbrandformayor.com/

King Tutankhamun Mini Site on TimesOnline
2007-11-14 02:06:00
The Times has a wonderful website filled with all kinds of bits that you just cannot get from a newspaper. This week they added a wonderful King Tutankhamun mini-site to celebrate the opening of the King Tut Exhibition at the O2 dome.It has some video some picture slide shows, and a competition. The best bit are the archives of the articles and notes from the Times reporters who broke the story of the discovery of King Tut's tomb.If you are interested in the child King called Tut, or just want to learn how The Times broke the story and kept the other newspapers from reporting on it, then pop over and check out this wonderful mini-site.

That funky dead Egyptian king Tutankhamun has an exhibition of his toys and trinkets opening in London tomorrow, so to celebrate I thought I would post this message about King Tut exploitation by Steve Martin (back when he was still funny).

Diamond Geezer
2007-11-12 11:22:00
I recently discovered this fantastic blogger from East London, and I would have to say I enjoy his posts immensely. He doesn't pull his punches and writes about all sorts of things happening in jolly old London Town.A warning to my American friends out there, he does use the greatest of all British inventions, sarcasm, quite a bit. I know Americans sometimes don't understand sarcasm, but if you read between the lines you might just see what he is getting at!So if you want to see the side of London they leave out of the tourist books, check out the wonderful Diamond Geezer blog.

Brick Films
2007-11-11 01:43:00
When I was a young boy my favorite toy was Lego I had piles of the stuff. I used those fantastic plastic bricks to build cars, spaceships and even entire cities. When I was a teenager my Dad bought one of the first video cameras available on the market. Like me he loved gadgets. I used to use that camera to tape all kinds of stupid stuff, and even interviewed my brothers on camera as if they were famous people we liked.Never did I ever think of combining my love of Lego with my love of using that video camera. Fortunately there are lots of people that did, and the results of some of these people's work can be found on the fantastic site Brick films.com. On this site you will find a searchable directory of hundreds of films, contests, a busy forum, and great resources to help animators of any level in the creation of their movies. The site itself is attractive, easy to navigate, but best of all contains tons of films to view which are surprisingly very good. You can also find Brick fil...

Nobody's Watching TV
2007-11-10 00:56:00
I had planned on reviewing and introducing my readers to a website that used to exist in cyberspace called Nobody 's Watching TV, however for some bizarre reason the site is gone.Being a clever sort of sod I did a bit of research... still did not find the site but I think I know why it has been blown out of cyberspace, so here is a bit of background and my conclusion of what has happened to this wonderful and funny site, and if you are good, I shall post you a sample of their work...The following was stolen from an entry on Wikipedia;Nobody's Watching is a television program that was never aired. It originated with and was written by Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, as well as Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan, writers for Scrubs and Family Guy.The pilot was developed for the WB Television Network, but network executives passed on the show for the 2005 schedule after test audiences seemed to be confused by its premise. However, in June 2006, the pilot was leaked onto YouTube, and quick...

My Heritage - Face Recognition
2007-11-08 11:51:00
MyHeritage .com is a geneology website that helps people trace back their family tree. Most people, that I know just visit there to play with their face recognition software. It is easy and quick to use, you just upload a picture of your ugly mug, and the computer analyses it and compares you to celebrity faces. It then prints a list of the celebrities your face most resembles. The sample above is a scan of my ugly mug and the results. To test the system I decided to upload a picture of the coolest actor in Hollywood, ex-ER cast member, George Clooney. The results were a bit odd, apparently George only looks 59% like himself. If I am reading the results correctly George looks more like Oliver Stone then he does himself... then again the picture of George Clooney they are using in my opinion doesn't look that much like George Clooney... if any of that is making sense.Oh well it doesn't really matter, it is good fun, and your results can be posted on your Face book account directly fro...

Stop Heather Mill's tears!

To: The GooglemeisterFrom: W.H. WinegardenI agree, we shouldn't pick on poor Heather because she want half of Paul's £600 million fortune for four years work... oops sorry I mean marriage. After all I am sure she must have contributed at least £10 or £20 of her own money to his account. I think it is terrible, we should stop calling her a gold digger... the kind of money she is after would make her a diamond digger!!!We must stop showing videos like this....

The Search for Dan Dare
2007-11-08 01:47:00
Today I was navigating my Cyberspace ship around looking for news of Dan Dare , and his impending return to the shelves of comic book stores and newsagents around the world... well Britain and the US anyhow. It seems Richard Branson the Virgin boss, and future rocket man, was a big fan of Dan Dare and has convinced the comic book guy at Virgin Comics to bring him back. Now I am not a comic book geek, nor a historian of Graphic novels as the comic book people like to call them, but I thought if I could get my hands on a few #1 issues then future comic book geeks would pay me huge money for them in the future. After searching the mighty Googlemeister's Google Cyberspace search machine I have come up with one conclusion... ALL DAN DARE CYBERSPACE SITES ARE SHIT!... and there are quite a few of them.Dan Dare.net - offers very little, just a brief history and then some links to games sites.Dan-Dare.org - offers even less, but has the same links to game sites.Dan Dare.co.uk - looks slick, a...

Kylie Konnect
2007-11-06 06:02:00
That little pop pixie Kylie Minogue has jumped on the Social Networking bandwagon and created her own cyberspace planet Kylie Konnect. Basically it is a Facebook rip-off, but like Kylie it is a whole lot prettier then your usual social networking planet. It has all the usual bits and bobs; profiles, blogs, pictures and what not, and as an added bonus anyone who signs up automatically has Kylie herself added as one of their friends. Exciting stuff!Kylie says she hopes her new site takes over from Facebook as the number one social networking planet in the cyberspace universe. I am sure she does, for if it were to gain the 50,000,000 estimated customers that Facebook has, Kylie would become even more stinking rich, then she already is!

BBC Music
2007-11-05 04:24:00
The Googlemeister was so impressed with the Later island on the mammoth BBC planet that he has ordered me to report on more of the terrain of the Giant BBC Cyberspace planet. The BBC is more known as a Planet associated with the BBC television channels, but it is also a fantastic music resource. The BBC Music Island is an essential stop for any music fan travelling through cyberspace. Not only does it offer visitors the usual music stuff, chart listings, news, gossip and reviews. It also allows visitors the opportunity to borrow any album reviews using the Creative Commons License scheme, and most reviews have music samples to preview. Visitors should be aware though that as the Beeb was colonised by the Brits the music site is strongly focused towards British bands, but there is enough there to keep any music fan happy. There is more on the Beeb planet for music fans as well thanks to the many satellites the Beeb have dedicated to their 11 main radio stations and countless local radi...
Girl with a One Track Mind
2007-11-04 03:49:00
Sometimes Cyberspace can be a lonely place. Back on Earth I have a wife and kids to keep me company... and if I am feeling a bit frisky I can normally charm the missus into a bit of hanky panky. In cyberspace though nobody is there... well except in binary code form.Thank God then for the Blogosphere. For in the blogosphere there are many people, who well won't keep me warm or provide that bit of comfort I sometimes need, but at least they will invite me into their lives and keep me company for awhile. One such place in the blogosphere is the wonderful Girl with a One Track Mind blog. This is a wonderfully written and entertaining sample of a blog, and sometimes it provides me with a little bit of mental hanky panky to feed my dreams and get the old blood circulating to my nether regions. In fact this blog is so good that it has spawned a book version of the blog back on Earth.
