Arshad Warsi in Rakesh Roshan upcoming venture

Arshad Warsi has signed plum films with filmmakers like Anil Kapoor and Rohit Shetty and has just inked a deal with Rakesh Roshan in which he plays a mad man.The year 2008 may goes good for actor Arshad Warsi’s. “For the first time I get to play this completely deranged character - a full-on mad man. I’ve never played a character like this.” Arshad told IANS. Too busy and committed to Ashutosh Gowariker’s “Jodhaa-Akbar” and his father’s next superhero film, Hrithik has given this assignment the go-by. It’s being directed by Rakesh Roshan’s assistant Raja Sen.This would be Rakesh’s first film without his son Hrithik in the last seven years. “In fact, Rakeshji has been with this script for more than 10 years,” This is Roshan’s first confident move forward in expanding and corporatising his production house into a multi-filmmaking concern like Yash Raj Films. The title of the film which was directed by Aziz Mirza is finally decided as Kismet Connection as earlier it is named as LUCKY CHARM. But now producer Ramesh Taurani, TIPS Film s, has laid all speculations to rest and has officially announced the title of the film as 'KISMAT KONNECTION'. The industry too is waiting with bated breath for the onscreen chemistry to create magic in the box office stakes and are bullish that KISMAT KONNECTION will be the much awaited blockbuster of 2008. Says producer Ramesh Taurani "Yes, I have finalized the title for our Shahid and Vidya starrer, directed by Aziz Mirza, as 'KISMAT KONNECTION'. Entitled "Stoneman", the film will present the notorious real life criminal in the thriller format featuring K.K. Menon and Arbaaz Khan as cops.Says Arbaaz: "What makes this real life story interesting is the way it has been written. Manish Gupta, who has written Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar", has converted the gruesome serial killings into a thriller. Such is the screenplay that the needle of suspicion points to all the characters, including me and K.K. Menon.""Stoneman" is the latest film on real life crimes. Decades ago, R.K. Rajasthan is currently the hot spot for two big film units from Mumbai - “Dill i 6″ and “Victory”. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ’s long-awaited “Dilli 6″ finally decided to shoot in Jaipur . While Mehra is recreating vignettes from New Delhi in Jaipur with his lead pair Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan, debutant director Ajit Pal is busy shooting dramatic sequences in Jaisalmer for his film “Victory”. “Victory” revolves around cricket and the game part of the film, which has Harman Baweja in the main lead, has been canned in Mumbai. “We’re shooting heavy duty dramatic scenes in the freezing cold and, that too, during the night when the temperature is below zero,” Anupam Kher, who plays Harman’s father in the movie, told IANS. “He reminds me of Hrithik Roshan, not just in looks but also in attitude and approach to his work. UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar’s big film ‘Fashion’, has barely got going when one hears of another filmmaker launching his own take on the Indian fashion world.The film entitled ‘The World Of Fashion’ will be directed by a certain Sanjay Khandelwal and jointly produced by him and Adarsh Kumar. They hope to start and wrap up the film by March 2008, long before UTV and Bhandarkar’s film is complete. Bhandarkar seems unaware of this project.

93 year old Teji bachchan passed away on Friday

93 year old Teji bachchan well-known as Amitabh Bachchan’s mother and Hindi poet Harivansah Rai Bachchan’s wife, passed away on Friday . Teji has been not keeping well from almost a year. She was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Lilavati hospital Mumbai, and there only ,she took her last breath at around 1.15 p.m. Friday.The funeral procession started from the Bachchans’ bungalow Pratiksha. The pallbearers included Amitabh, brother Ajitabh, Abhishek, son-in-law Nikhil Nanda and other family members. Others in the procession included Reliance’s Anil Ambani, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh and Sahara Group head Subroto Roy. Amitabh Bachchan lit the funeral pyre around 10 a.m. A steady stream of callers-on included Yash Chopra, Prasoon Joshi and Mac Mohan who paid homage to Teji at the crematorium.
