Well, I had my 15 seconds fame with the BBC tonight... I was worked into a frazzle originally for Saturday night, had called to reconfirm - only to learn they meant Monday after the WI vs Zimbabwe match!Re-geared the engines over Sunday night (what a pain, no karaoke nor partying for the usual weekend chaos, bummer) and waited the whole day for 9:15 pm to drop in like some ninja version of Cinderella... What did I do in between? Research!I learned how 37 is a key number in the West Indies tour of duty so far - Lara is 37, and Lara was out on 37 in their first victory as Pakistan too played the 37 game when Mohammed Yousuf was caught by Denesh Ramdin and bowled by Dwayne Smith for the same 37... BREAKING NEWS - More Tragedy for Earthrace in its Barbados Quest: Collision

When Bajan Reporter looked for the latest progress for the “Earth race” in its goal to travel the world in 65 days or less, we were saddened to learn the Earthrace vessel was involved in a collision yesterday with a Guatemalan fishing boat.This regretfully ended in a fisherman dying, he is presumed drowned and there's serious injury to another fisherman. No injuries are reported from the Earthrace crew.Bajan Reporter joins with the Earthrace in sending deepest sympathies out to the families and friends of the fishing vessel.Earthrace is currently anchored at a military compound in Puerto Quetza, Guatemala.Bajan Reporter is awaiting for further details to be confirmed from Earthrace. It seems the CWC Security Directorate and the ICC have relaxed their draconian dicta on bottled water, this can now be brought into match venues, with immediate effect. This is to make sure that people don't fall and faint! However, they're taking off the bottle tops as you enter a match venue. Apparently the decision decision was taken with “security and medical considerations in mind and with a view to making sure fans have access to as much water as possible while enjoying the cricket in the Caribbean’s tropical environs. Merchants from Broad Street want to close Broad Street to try and cash in on the CWC 2007 spectators leaving Super 8 matches - how does this reconcile with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) wishing to ensure that traffic remains flowing freely during the Cup?The LOC with the Chamber of Commerce held a Town Hall for the business community of Bridgetown on Monday 12th March at the Ideal Restaurant. This is where Francine Charles, the Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager of the LOC pledged that traffic would be effectively managed to ensure a free flow - which contradicted the wishes of the merchants... There was a subsequent promise from Ruall C. Just this week in Washington, there was a two-day Conference between Parliamentarians from the English-speaking Caribbean and officials of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.It's the first time such a group from this region met with all three institutions at the same time.The working sessions focused on the crucial role that Members of Parliament play in fiscal transparency, budgetary preparation, execution and oversight, effective use of public goods and accountability.The meeting underscored the need to further enhance and deepen consultation and collaboration between the international institutions and the Caribbean Parliaments.Several Parliamentary participants emphasized the need for more transparent policies on disclosure of information and to ensure that the views and concerns of opposition parties are taken into account when preparing country assessments.
