'X-Files 2' Gets a Title!
2008-04-16 19:20:00
A title has finally been picked for the sequel to ‘X-Files .’ Chris Carter, the series’ creator and the films director, told the Associated Press the title will be ‘X-Files : I Want To Believe.’ This is a very popular phrase that has been seen on the show countless times, as well as on the internet. “It’s a natural title,” Carter said in a telephone interview Tuesday during a break from editing the film. “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.” The sequel will not be your typical X-Files story. This one will not deal with aliens or anything along the lines of extraterrestrials. Instead “it casts Mulder and Scully into a stand-alone, earth-bound story aimed at both serious ‘X-Files’ fans.” Sign me up! ‘X-Files: I Want To Believe’ hits theaters July 25th. Sourc...

The Weinsteins Remake 'Seven Samurai'
2008-04-16 19:08:00
The Weinsteins have decided it’s a good idea to remake ‘Seven Samurai .’ While they think it’s a good idea, I’m sure millions of others do not agree. Why would they want to remake something that is considered one of the greatest movies ever? It’d be like remaking ‘The Godfather’ or ‘Casablanca’ or even remaking ‘Citizen Kane!’ Variety says ‘Seven Samurai’ will start shooting in the fourth quarter of 2008 for release in 2009. The cast will feature American, European and Asian stars, and a director is in advanced talks with the Weinsteins. Will these remakes ever stop? Seriously. Hey Hollywood, I got a suggestion. Why not read a damn book and make that into a movie. Stop watching movies and saying to yourselves “HEY! We could make a movie out of that movie!” Ya, no shit. Come up with something original, or at least make a movie from some sort of source material that hasn’t been done be...

Farrelly Brother’s New Comedy To Be Redneck Action-Adventure
2008-04-16 05:20:00
The Farrelly Brother s broke into the comedy movie scene back in the early 1990s with ‘Dumb and Dumber’ and quickly followed it up with ‘Kingpin.’ Both of those movies are two of my favorite comedies of all time. They never get old to me and I could watch them over and over. But if you ask me, their talent ran out shortly after ‘There’s Something About Mary’ graced our eyeballs. Sure, they directed ‘Osmosis Jones’ which was pretty good, but that’s the last movie from the Farrelly Brothers that I was able to sit through (thanks to Bill Murray). Variety is reporting that Fox has purchased a script from Mike Arnold and Chris Poole called ‘Beaujolais’ and expects the Farrelly Brothers to produce and possibly direct. The comedy is described as “redneck action-adventure with a protagonist along the lines of Austin Powers or Ace Ventura.” I have posted the trailer for ‘Osmosis Jones’ below for yo...

Dreamworks pictures has acquired the rights to the popular Japanese manga series ‘Ghost in the Shell.’ Their plans are to adapt the series into a live-action 3-D movie. ‘Ghost in the Shell’ is a futuristic police thriller dealing with the exploits of Motoko Kusanagi, a member of the covert operations section of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission, Section 9, which specializes in fighting technology-related crime. The original ‘Ghost in the Shell’ was first published in 1989, and it went on to generate two additional manga editions, three anime film adaptations, an anime TV series and three videogames. Steven Spielberg helped get this film rolling and we will see Avi Arad, Ari Ara and Steven Paul produce. Jamie Moss has signed on to write the adaptation of the manga to the big screen. The Spirit Wears Black
2008-04-15 20:40:00
We have seen some spy shots from the set of Frank Miller’s ‘The Spirit ’ but they were quickly removed by Lionsgate. Then we were given two official, yet not very revealing, images of Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson. Now we get to see how Denny Colt/The Spirit is going to look in the film, thanks to an image of a toy. AICN was sent this image today of an upcoming DC Direct toy of The Spirit. What’s wrong with this toy, you ask? Well, The Spirit is traditionally supposed to wear blue but I guess Miller has different plans. I think I like the black a bit better. The blue seems way too cartoonish and doesn’t look natural to me. How do you feel about the new Spirit? Is black in? Or should have Miller stuck with the blue?

'The Fast and the Furious 4' Gets a Title!
2008-04-15 18:23:00
And boy is it original! Our friends over at Cinematical have scoop on what title of new installment will be, and it is - ‘Fast and Furious ’ (did you see what I did there?) Seems like filmmakers are getting slack when it comes to titling their films! The “official” plot for the film goes as follows: “When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him.” Expect to see ‘Fast and Furious’ in theaters on June 5th, 2009.
