Just hours after my warning of rehab woes, Miss Britney Spears finally had the breakdown everyone expected. For the fortunate few who haven’t been subjected to the latest CNN repeat story: Britney is on suicide watch. According to various news outlets, the pop princess had a mental breakdown yesterday, taking her children temporarily hostage, causing police and other officials to be called to her house. After police threatened Spears with arrest, she released her sons back into their father’s custody. Pictures are circulating that show Britney being carted away on a gurney. Rumor is she’ll be in the hospital for a 14-day stay and she will most likely lose custody of her children. Lets hope her stay gives her the rest and help she needs. As I sit here on this rainy Saturday afternoon, I have the luxury of watching a Sex and The City rerun on TBS. This one is when Charlotte is getting married for the first time to Trey, and Carrie is dating Aidan (but cheating on him with Mr. Big). I know that one central theme to Sex and The City is that Carrie and Mr. Big are two mixed up individuals, afraid of love and commitment, but made for each other. I always secretly rooted for Mr. Big, the commitment-phobe scoundrel. Now, many years since the wrap of the show, I watch this rerun and think about the upcoming movie in May. As excited as I have been for this movie, I just don't know if I'm ready to accept. Just like Carrie shafted Aidan, I feel the series shafted us, the audience.
