Comic Book Review: Fantastic Four #556
2008-04-14 15:15:00 The Revolution loved the last issue of Fantastic Four . Millar and Hitch served up a riveting read. I have to admit that I am thoroughly enjoying everything that Millar is doing on this title. I cannot wait to see CAP in action. Fantastic Four #556 should be a highly entertaining read. Let?s hit this review.Creative TeamWriter: Mark MillarPencils: Bryan HitchInks: Bryan Hitch & Paul NearyArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10.Story Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10.Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10.Synopsis: We begin with CAP killing the small platoon of soldiers. Comic Book Review: Titans #1
2008-04-13 16:30:00 The Revolution is full of mixed feelings about the debut of Titans #1. I grew up a diehard fan of the wonderful Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans. For me, this is the iconic version of the Teen Titans. Still, I?m hesitant about having the Wolfman/Perez Titans getting back together. First, I staunchly believe that you can never go home again. The past is the past and it just cannot be relived. What Wolfman and Perez did with this roster is something that should be praised and enjoyed. However, I don?t see any reason for bringing the Wolfman/Perez Titans back. There is just no way that this current take on the Wolfman/Perez Titans will be able to compare to what we got the first time around.Second, the writer DC tapped for this title is none other than Judd Winick. I always think it is incumbent upon a reviewer to openly state any inherent or uncontrollable biases immediately prior to reviewing a comic book. Let me make it clear that I have rarely been even remotely impressed with Winick?s wr... More About: Comic , Book Review , Review , Book
Comic Book Review: Booster Gold #8
2008-04-12 16:00:00 Booster Gold never fails to deliver a quality read. DC has a real gem on their hands with this title. Johns and Katz are in the midst of giving us a wild tale as Booster and Blue Beetle deal with the repercussions of saving Ted?s life from Maxwell Lord. I?m positive that Booster Gold #8 will be another fine read. Let?s hit this review.Creative TeamWriters: Geoff Johns & Jeff KatzArtists: Dan Jurgens & Norm RapmundArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Booster Gold summarizing the events of the last couple of issues. Boost and Blue Beetle follow Hawkman and Green Arrow to their secret headquarters of the resistance. Comic Book Review: Justice Society of America #14
2008-04-11 14:49:00 The Revolution has been less than impressed with the painfully slow pacing of this current story arc. Johns continues to display a blatant disregard for how his stories read in a monthly fashion and simply focuses on the goal of writing a story suited for trade format. Having said that, this story has plenty of potential and I can only hope that we get something that resembles plot progression with Justice Society of America #14. Let?s do this review.Creative TeamWriter: Geoff Johns & Alex RossPencils: Dale EagleshamInks: Prentis RollinsArt Rating: 9 Night Girls out of 10.Story Rating: 9 Night Girls out of 10.Overall Rating: 9 Night Girls out of 10.Synopsis: We begin with Sandy at his apartment thinking how he can no longer sleep. Comic Book Review: Countdown to Final Crisis #3
2008-04-10 15:30:00 Thank god that we are finally approaching the end to this disappointing title. Countdown to Final Crisis #3 will probably continue the tradition of less than impressive reads. If anything, at least a Superman versus Darkseid brawl should provide for some entertainment. Comic Book Commentary: Iron Fist
2008-04-09 17:00:00 On Monday I saw the sad news that The Immortal Iron Fist is having its entire creative team gutted. You can check out Comic Book Resources article about the creative team switch right here. I have not been shy about my praise for the excellent work that Brubaker, Fraction and Aja have delivered on The Immortal Iron Fist. This title is a hidden gem.The creative team have done a stunning job taking a somewhat dated and cheesy 1970?s character and giving him a full treatment in an effort to re-fashion him into a character that is relevant to the modern era of the 616 Universe. Brubaker and Fraction were able to see the hidden potential in Danny?s character and bring it to fruition. Brubaker and Fraction also managed to weave a delightfully complex and intriguing mythos with their re-imagining of the history of the Iron Fist. The depressing news is that Brubaker, Fraction and Aja are all leaving the title together. This is a crushing blow to The Immortal Iron Fist and one that the title ... More About: Commentary , Comic Book

Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From April 2, 2008
2008-04-08 22:00:00 Let?s go ahead and dish out The Revolution?s weekly awards. The nominees for the Che for the best read of the week:Detective Comic s #843Project Super Powers #2The Winner: Project Super Powers #2This week was very light on truly quality reads. I really had to stretch it to nominate Detective Comics #843 just to prevent Project Super Powers #2 from running away and hiding with the Che due to a complete and total lack of competition this week.I had to give the Che for the best read of the week to Project Super Powers #2. This was the only read this week that I found to be anything special. Krueger continues to impress me with his hard work on this title. This is a finely crafted story that is deep and thick enough to give the reader plenty to chew on while at the same time has enough action and adventure to keep the reader entertained. And now the nominees for the Sequential Methadone Award for the worst read of the week:Action Comics #863Amazing Spider-Man #555Cable #2Countdown to Final... Comic Book Review: Project Super Powers #2
2008-04-08 16:00:00 The Revolution has enjoyed the first couple of issues of Project Super Powers. I am a huge fan of Golden Age characters and had been looking forward to getting treated to The Twelve and Project Super Powers at the same time. While The Twelve has served to be a massive disappointment as it is a simply dreadful read each month, Project Super Powers has exceeded my initial expectations and delivered quality reads with each issue. I am sure that Krueger will deliver yet another strong read with Project Super Powers #2. Comic Book Review: Cable #2
2008-04-07 17:00:00 Cable is one of the various titles that spun out of the conclusion of Messiah Complex. I will admit that I have never been a big Cable fan. I rarely like anything associated with Rob Liefeld. I have always viewed Cable as the epitome of everything that was wrong with the worst decade in comic book history. But, I have softened my view of Cable and have come to like him more and more over the past couple of years.I decided to give this new Cable a try because it seemed that we were going to get a more Eastwood styled Cable. And I am a huge Eastwood junkie. I enjoyed Cable #1. I like the portrayal of Cable as an old and battle scarred gunslinger. We also got plenty of action. And I always take pleasure in the wonderful art of Ariel Olivetti. I?m pretty confident that Cable #2 will be a solid read. Comic Book Review: Detective Comics #843
2008-04-05 19:18:00 The Revolution hasn?t been that thrilled with Dini?s work on Countdown to Final Crisis. However, Dini?s run on Detective Comic s has been quite enjoyable. Dini has done a good job winning me over to his one-shot issue method of storytelling on this title. I think the longest story arc he has given us has been two issues. I expect Detective Comics #843 to be an enjoyable read. Comic Book Review: Action Comics #863
2008-04-04 20:45:00 The Revolution has been quite disappointed with this current story arc. This has been a surprisingly slow and dull read. Action Comic s #863 is the finale to this lumbering story arc. I honestly do not have high expectations for this issue. I have a feeling that this story arc will end in an anti-climactic fashion. Let?s go ahead and do this review for Action Comics #863.Creative TeamWriters: Geoff JohnsPencils: Gary FrankInks: Jon SibalArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 5 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 6.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with the UP armada on their way to Earth to destroy the Earth for their xenophobic actions. Comic Book Review: Countdown to Final Crisis #4
2008-04-04 03:33:00 Countdown to Final Crisis appears fated to go out with a whimper. This title is going to be a bad read right down to the very end. I wasn?t that impressed with the last issue and I?m certainly not expecting much with Countdown to Final Crisis #4. Comic Book Review: Secret Invasion #1
2008-04-03 04:45:00 The Revolution loves big events. Be it from Marvel or DC, I get excited over big events like I do over the big summer blockbuster movies. And often, the excitement and anticipation to the big events are far more fun than the big events themselves. Many times, the big events fail to live up to the hype.I will readily admit that I am suspicious that Secret Invasion is going to be much of an impressive story. I have a feeling that we are going to get an event that is going to be a rather thin read with not much in the way of actual storyline, plot development or character work and heavy on ?shocking? random Skrull reveals and over the top action scenes designed to evoke that ?Oh shit!? moment from the reader.Basically, I?m expecting Secret Invasion to be like your average blockbuster summer movie that relies on flashy special effects and adrenaline pumping action scenes to distract the reader from the fact that there is little to no story, terrible acting and poor dialogue. With that in... Comic Book Review: Legion of Super Heroes #40
2008-04-02 20:29:00 Shooter?s Legion of Super Heroes has been a huge hit here at The Revolution. This is the fourth issue of Shooter?s run and I have a feeling that the pacing is going to pick up a bit. Shooter is done making the transition from Waid?s Legion to his Legion. I expect the intensity to increase as Shooter unveils his new story arc ?Enemy Rising.? Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From March 26, 2008

Not too many titles this week were worth a nomination for the Che. All Star Superman #10 was another excellent read. Morrison continues to deliver pure magic on this title. Comic Book Commentary: Secret Invasion Poll
2008-03-31 21:47:00 Secret Invasion #1 is slated to come out this week on April 2. So I figured now would be a fine time to slap a poll up on The Revolution. I?m curious to find out about the expectations that the followers of The Revolution have for Secret Invasion. Personally, I think this event is a train wreck waiting to happen. The entire basis for Secret Invasion of who is a Skrull isn?t an actual story or plot. It is simply a plot device. And while I adored Bendis? work on Daredevil and have loved his impressive run on Ultimate Spider-Man, the fact is that I have found his work on team titles and big events to be incredibly unimpressive. New Avengers has been a dreadful read and House of M was such a disappointment. Despite Bendis being a talented writer, I simply don?t think that his talents work with team titles and big events. Having said all that, I am still going to remain optimistic and hope for the best. I would be thrilled if we got treated to a quality read with Secret Invasion. Comic Book Review: New Avengers #39
2008-03-31 21:25:00 It is no secret that The Revolution has been highly unimpressed with the feeble effort that Bendis has put forth on New Avengers . Each issue seems to get duller and more pointless than the last one. New Avengers #39 is a spotlight issue on Echo. Oh, lucky me. We get a spotlight issue on quite possibly the most uninteresting and boring character in the 616 universe. Outside of Bendis and Mack, I do not know of anyone who finds her character fascinating. I?ve certainly never thought Echo?s character was worthy of a roster spot on the Avengers. Oh well, I guess I?ll just have to hold my nose and dive into this review for New Avengers #39.Creative TeamWriter: Brain Michael BendisArtist: David MackInks: Jeff HuetArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 3 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 5.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Echo telling Wolverine that she doesn?t believe in this whole Skrull conspiracy theory. Comic Book Commentary: Seigel versus DC Comics
2008-03-30 15:35:00 The comic book industry was rocked by a historic ruling on March 26, 2008 from the Federal District Court in the Central District of California. The judge ruled that the Siegel heirs have copyright interests in the content of Action Comic s #1. The award was only limited to Action Comics #1 because that was all the work that Shuster and Siegel performed for DC before signing the contract that assigned all their rights to Superman over to DC.This is a huge decision, but the battle is far from over. I am sure that Time Warner is going to appeal this decision. So it will be some time before we get a final ruling on this matter. This ruling involves some highly complex Copyright laws. And I?m not going to try and explain them in great detail. My area of law that I practice is workers? rights, civil rights and discrimination, not copyright and trademark law. But, I will give you a quick summation of what might interest the typical comic book reader. Before I begin, if you want to read a wo... More About: Commentary , Book

2008-03-29 03:24:00 The Revolution enjoyed the last issue of Teen Titans . I found the new Clock King and the Terror Titans to be pretty interesting antagonists for this story arc. Comic Book Review: Green Lantern #29
2008-03-28 14:08:00 Geoff Johns is using Green Lantern #29 as an opportunity to deliver a ?Secret Origin? story. I?m curious to read Johns decides to do much tweaking here and there with Hal?s origin in order to match it up more with what Johns has been doing with the Green Lantern mythos.
