So, even though I have always lived in urban areas, I have to admit that every once in a while I get the desire to pack up and move to some nice quiet rural area. Anyway, the Top 10 rural areas in America are:10. La Plata, Colorado9. Gilchrist Country, Florida8. Coffee County, Alabama7. Fayette County, Texas6. Wexford County, Michigan5. Weekly Awards For The Comic Books From February 20, 2008

Let?s go ahead and dish out The Revolution?s weekly awards. The nominees for the Che for the best read of the week:Iron Man #26Justice League of America #18Mighty Avengers #9Superman/Batman #46The Winner: Iron Man #26This week had several very entertaining reads. Justice League of America #18 and Mighty Avengers #9 were both pleasant surprises as both issues delivered enjoyable and fun reads this week. Both issues were fast reads that offered a delightful bit of escapism.I also really enjoyed Superman/Batman #46. This issue was a great read. I found Superman?s reaction to the magic Kryptonite hilarious. It was humorous seeing the Man of Steel acting like he had taken several massive bong hits. Superman?s bad case of the munchies was perfect. This issue also gave us a neat little character study on Batman. We get a nice glimpse into Batman?s dismissal and dislike of anything magic. We also get to see the Batman/Zatanna relationship that Dini created over in Detective Comic s fleshed out...

Comic Book Review: Hulk #2
2008-02-26 15:39:00
Marvel unveiled another Hulk comic book with the debut of Hulk #1. The little twist about this title is that it deals with an all new red Hulk. The creative team consists of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness. Now, I?m not a big Hulk fan. I haven?t really read the Incredible Hulk since I was probably about 11 or 12. And I was totally unimpressed with World War Hulk. So, the question is why in the world would I give this new Hulk a try? Well, the main reason is because I love Ed McGuinness? artwork. And I think he is perfectly suited to draw a character like the Hulk. And a minor reason is that I?m just a bit curious to learn more about this red Hulk. Now, Jeph Loeb has really been striking out left and right since arriving at Marvel. His run on Wolverine was completely unreadable. And his version of the Ultimates is a far cry from what Millar gave us. I?m a bit surprised by Loeb?s lack of success with Marvel since I do think that Loeb is a talented writer and I enjoyed his work on Smallvill...

Comic Book Review: Ultimates 3 #3
2008-02-25 18:20:00
The Revolution has not been all that impressed with Loeb?s take on the Ultimates. I will give fair disclosure that I was a huge fan of Millar?s run on this title. And any version of the Ultimates that strayed too far from what Millar gave us probably had little chance of winning me over. At any rate, I?m still giving this title a fair shake. Let?s go ahead and hit this review for Ultimates 3 #3.Creative TeamWriter: Jeph LoebArtist: Joe MadureiraArt Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 4 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 5.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Wolverine walking into the Ultimates? mansion. Wolverine says he is here because the X-Men make Magneto their business. And that the Brotherhood is connected to Magneto. Hawkeye asks Wolverine ?Didn?t you used to be in the Brotherhood?? Wolverine spits back ?Didn?t you used to have a wife and two kids.? Hawkeye calls Wolverine a ?mutie? and says it is on. Hawkeye unloads a crapload of bullets into Wolverine....

Comic Book Review: Mighty Avengers #9
2008-02-24 19:42:00
Mighty Avengers, though not as dreadfully dull and stagnant of a read as New Avengers, still hasn?t been all that impressive. Bendis has delivered a slow and lumbering story on this title. Now that we finally have an artist on board who can keep a monthly schedule and Bendis has finally gotten past the horribly executed Venom symbiote story arc, maybe this title can finally get rolling. If anything else, Mighty Avengers #9 has the potential to deliver a fun action packed read. Let?s do this review for Mighty Avengers #9.Creative TeamWriter: Brain Michael BendisPencils: Mark BagleyInks: Danny MikiArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Doctor Doom finishing having what I?m sure was some phenomenal sex with the one and only Morgan Le Fey. Comic Book Review: Batman and the Outsiders #4
2008-02-23 17:00:00
Batman and the Outsiders has been a solid title. But, it needs to do something more than just be average if it expects to earn a spot on The Revolution?s permanent pull list. I?m still not entirely sold on the roster that Dixon has assembled. Maybe, Dixon can win me over with Batman and the Outsiders #4. Let?s go ahead and do this review.Creative TeamWriter: Chuck DixonPencils: Julian LopezInks: BitArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Batgirl, Green Arrow, Metamorpho and Katana in a jungle in French Guiana. Green Arrow suddenly attacks Batgirl. Ollie thinks that she is a killer and shouldn?t be on the team. Ollie doesn?t trust her. Katana tells Ollie to back off and calm down. Green Arrow refuses to do so and is about to shoot another arrow when Batman appears and grabs Ollie?s wrist and tells him ?Enough.?We then flashback to earlier with Batman in Francine Langstrom?s lab in Gotham Ci...

Comic Book Review: Justice League of America #18
2008-02-22 15:39:00
Justice League of America continues to be nothing more than an average read. Considering that this title is DC?s flagship team title, I have higher expectations than I would for your average comic book. I am surprised that DC is content with their premier super team being such a run of the mill product. Maybe Burnett and McDuffie can crank it up with Justice League of America #18 and get this title rolling in a positive fashion. Let?s go ahead and do this review for Justice League of America #18.Creative TeamWriters: Alan Burnett & Dwayne McDuffiePencils: Ed Benes & Jon Boy MeyersInks: Sandra Hope, Mariah Benes, Ed Benes, Victor Llamas & Serge LaPointeArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Amanda Waller getting the alert that a group of metahuman villains just broke into the Hall of Justice. Comic Book Review: Countdown to Final Crisis #10
2008-02-21 19:13:00
We are entering the home run stretch on Countdown. Dini has surprised me by managing to salvage this title over the course of the past month with some solid, though not spectacular, reads. Hopefully, this trend will continue and Dini will be able to give us an exciting ending. Let?s do this review for Countdown to Final Crisis #10.Creative TeamWriters: Paul Dini, Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmiotti & Keith GiffenPencils: Scott KollinsInks: Mark McKennaArt Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Mary leading Harley and Holly to a large locked vault door. Comic Book Review: Detective Comics #841
2008-02-20 02:59:00
I havent' read an issue of Detective Comic s in a while, so while I visited the bunker Rokk threw me an issue to try out. I know Paul Dini from his solid work on the animated series and like Batman comics in general, so I'm hoping this will be a good read. Let?s go ahead and dish out The Revolution?s weekly awards. The nominees for the Che for the best read of the week:Ghost Rider #20X-Factor #28X-Force #1The Winner: X-Factor #28This week was another average week. Almost all of the comic books this week were solid reads, but none of them were anything spectacular that would separate them from the rest of the pack. I enjoyed the debut issue of X-Force. I certainly found this issue to be better than my initial expectations. I?m actually excited about the fact that X-Force might actually be able to earn a spot on The Revolution?s permanent pull list.Ghost Rider #20 was just a blast to read. It is great that Aaron has finally made this title an enjoyable read after having to suffer through Way?s dismal run. I have a positive feeling that with Aaron at the helm that we should be in store for plenty of testosterone fueled 1970?s style horror and action on this title. In the end, I had to award the Che to X-Factor #28. David continues to crank...

Comic Book Review: Ghost Rider #20
2008-02-15 22:20:00
Finally, Daniel Way has left Ghost Rider. The Revolution has been waiting for this moment pretty much ever since Ghost Rider #1 came out. I just wasn?t impressed with Way?s writing at all. The new scribe on Ghost Rider is Jason Aaron. He is the writer over on Wolverine, and while Aaron has never blown me away, he certainly has never disappointed like Way has. So, this is at least a step in the right direction.Unfortunately, mi hermanos Mark Texeira and Javier Saltares are off Ghost Rider as well. That is unfortunate, since I like Saltares art and I have always found Texeira to be the definitive Ghost Rider artist. Roland Boschi takes over the art duties and brings a much different look to this title. Let?s go ahead and hit this review for Ghost Rider #20.Creative TeamWriter: Jason AaronArtist: Roland BoschiArt Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 6.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Johnny Blaze in a confessional telling his...

Comic Book Review: Wolverine #62
2008-02-15 19:26:00
The Revolution hasn?t bothered to post a review of Wolverine in quite some time. Honestly, it has been a rather long time since I found Wolverine to be a particularly good read. I have not been thrilled with the direction that Marvel has taken Wolverine ever since he regained his memories. At any rate, I figured it was time to go ahead and crank out a review of what used to be one of the coolest characters in the 616 Universe. Let?s do this review for Wolverine #62.Creative TeamWriter: Jason AaronArtist: Ron GarneyArt Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10.Story Rating: 5 Night Girls out of 10.Overall Rating: 5.5 Night Girls out of 10.Synopsis: We begin with a flashback to 1921 in the Sondran Desert, Mexico. Comic Book Review: X-Force #1
2008-02-15 15:29:00
Spinning out from the dramatic ending of Messiah Complex comes the newest incarnation of X-Force . And I actually like the purpose of this X-Force more than the preceding versions of this team. Due to the events of Messiah Complex, Cyclops has seen the need for a black ops team like X-Force to pull off the dirty missions that the X-Men cannot be connected with or handle at all. If nothing else, X-Force should supply us with tons of action and a relatively fast paced story. Let?s go ahead and do this review for X-Force #1.Creative TeamWriters: Craig Kyle & Chris YostArtist: Clayton CrainArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 7.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Scott and Wolverine meeting at Angel?s house in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Comic Book Review: Booster Gold #0
2008-02-14 20:00:00
Booster Gold has rapidly become one of The Revolution?s favorite titles. Johns and Katz rock it with each and every issue. Booster Gold is a nicely balanced title that gives the reader action, adventure, drama and character work all while delving deeply into the DCU?s storied history. This issue of Booster Gold is the Zero Hour issue that is only a bit over a decade late. It should be a fun read. Let?s go ahead and hit this review for Booster Gold #0.Creative TeamWriters: Geoff Johns & Jeff KatzArtists: Dan Jurgens & Norm RapmundArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with a brief re-cap of last issue?s daring rescue of Ted Kord. Comic Book Review: Countdown to Final Crisis #11
2008-02-14 17:50:00
Countdown continues to deliver a slightly better than average read. I?m beginning to think that Dini might be able to pull off a solid ending to this otherwise disappointing title. If nothing else, at least the pacing on this title has considerably improved. Comic Book Commentary: Trinity
2008-02-13 17:38:00
DC has gone ahead and unveiled their new weekly title that will replace Countdown. The comic book is titled ?Trinity ? and will focus on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Trinity will begin in June of 2008. Trinity will consist of a twelve page lead story by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley followed by a ten page back-up story by Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza. At first blush, I was less than thrilled with the prospect of this title. Countdown has been a disappointment as it gave us such a sharp drop in quality compared to the excellent work that we got on 52. I thought that maybe DC would finally put to rest the weekly title at least for a while.Evidently, I was wrong. Despite the fact that almost everyone that I know agrees that Countdown is an inferior product compared to 52, clearly DC is happy with Countdown?s performance. Obviously, both 52 and Countdown were profitable and as long as DC is making money from running a weekly title, then it only makes good business sense to continue ...

Comic Book Commentary: The Invincible Iron Man
2008-02-11 22:17:00
I have been meaning to get around to commenting on the new Iron Man comic book that is set to come out in May. And look at that, it just so happens to coincide with the release of the Iron Man movie. Imagine that. Now, as any loyal follower of The Revolution knows I am a huge Iron Man fan. After the Legion of Super Heroes, Iron Man is my next favorite title. I have a full run on Iron Man and up until Civil War, I always picked up any comic book that Iron Man made an appearance in. I am obviously beyond giddy with anticipation of the new Iron Man movie. As a kid, I always dreamed about how cool an Iron Man movie would be.Having said that, I have to admit that I have practically no interest in this new solo title ?The Invincible Iron Man? that is set to come out this May. And look at that, it coincides with the release of the Iron Man movie. This new Iron Man title smacks of Joey Q just trying to cash in on the Iron Man movie by flooding the market with another Iron Man title. Hey, I ...

Let?s go ahead and dish out The Revolution?s weekly awards. The nominees for the Che for the best read of the week:Moon Knight #15Uncanny X-Men #495The Winner: Moon Knight #15This week was actually a pretty ordinary week. I didn?t find any of the issues to be particularly amazing reads other than Moon Knight #15. This week was simply one of those weeks where you get a bunch of serviceable but nothing incredible reads. I had to place Uncanny X-Men #495 into the mix since it was the second best read this week. Brubaker crafted a fine story even though nothing particular happened in this issue. And Choi?s artwork was just drop dead gorgeous. This is some of the best artwork that we have gotten on any X-title in quite some time. However, Moon Knight #15 was hands down the best read this week. Mike Benson is doing an excellent job replacing Charlie Huston on this title. Benson crafts a raw and visceral story in this issue. Benson clearly understands Moon Knight?s mentally unstable ...

Comic Book Review: Justice Society of America #12
2008-02-08 17:54:00
The Revolution has really enjoyed Justice Society of America . However, I found the last issue to be a real disappointment. Johns seems stuck in a rut as we have gotten little to no plot progression. I also question the decision to hastily add a whole slew of new members to the JSA?s roster. Hopefully, the last issue was a mere aberration and that Johns can get this title back on track with Justice Society of America #12. Let?s do this review.Creative TeamWriter: Geoff Johns & Alex RossPencils: Dale EagleshamInks: Ruy JoseArt Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10.Story Rating: 4 Night Girls out of 10.Overall Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10.Synopsis: We see Jakeem Thunder and Johnny the Thunderbolt arriving at the JSA brownstone. Messiah Complex is over and now we get to deal with the fall out spinning out of one of the best big events from Marvel that I have read in a long time. Evidently, the X-Men are going to be disbanded as they try to figure out how to move on without their leader Professor X. Countdown continues to surprise me in not completely sucking over the past couple of issues. Now, don?t get me wrong, this title isn?t anything incredible, but at least the past several issues have been serviceable average reads. And for Countdown, that is something impressive. At any rate, let?s hope Dini continues to merge all of these different languishing plotlines into a more unified story for the push to the conclusion of this story. This was a tough decision to make. Green Lantern #27 was a great read. I liked the new Alpha-Lanterns and am extremely excited about the direction of this title. Ultimate Spider-Man #118 was just pure fun. Yeah, there was no action. But, this issue gave us Bendis at his best. We get a wonderful look into a group of young metahumans hanging out and just being teenagers and enjoying life. I wish Bendis would stick to titles like Ultimate Spider-Man that showcase his strengths rather than wasting time on titles like the Avengers that just make him look bad. Now, after reading Captain America #34, I was sure that this issue was going to win the Che for best read of the week. Comic Book Review: Project Super Powers #0
2008-02-05 14:12:00
The Revolution doesn?t usually sample that many comics outside of the big two in Marvel and DC. That isn?t to say that there aren?t numerous fantastic reads being published by smaller presses. There certainly are. I simply have limited time and choose to read the characters that I grew up with.Having said that, every once in a while I will sample some titles from the smaller presses. If I have a desire for some cheesecake or Golden Age styled characters then I pick up an issue from AC Comic s. Every once in a while Image might crank out something that catches my eye. Well, this week it was Dynamite Entertainment that caught my eye with a new title from their press called Project Super Powers. There are two reasons why Project Super Powers grabbed my interest. The first is that the creative team consists of Alex Ross and Jim Krueger. These two creators teamed up to deliver Marvel?s Earth X trilogy and DC?s Justice. I enjoyed both immensely and am a fan of both Ross and Krueger. The othe...

Poll: Cleveland Rocks!
2008-02-05 03:49:00
Well, the followers of The Revolution have spoken and it appears that The Revolution?s new NFL team is none other than your Cleveland Browns. The Revolution posted a poll about which NFL team should be The Revolution's new NFL team. There were a total of 191 votes. The results were:Cleveland Browns: 38 votes (19%)New England Patriots: 35 votes (18%)Green Bay Packers: 31 votes (16%)Indianapolis Colts: 31 votes (16%)Miami Dolphins: 24 votes (12%)Chicago Bears: 18 votes (9%)Pittsburgh Steelers: 14 votes (7%)I have to say that I am a bit surprised that Cleveland won the poll. Now, I know that their fans are renowned for being fiercely loyal. But, I really expected a much stronger showing from the Pittsburgh Steelers. And just like in the Super Bowl, the Patriots had to settle for a close second place in this poll. All right, let?s post a quick review of The Revolution?s new NFL football club. The Good: The Browns are an old franchise with a storied history. That is huge for me. They wer...

Comic Book Review: New Avengers Annual #2
2008-02-04 23:18:00
New Avengers is a journey down a dark and windy path that leads to nowhere particular. Bendis appears to have achieved the perfect state of stasis where he can string together numerous issues that achieve nothing. We get served up plenty of random dialogue laced with ?witty? stream of conscious banter mashed together with repetitive brawl scenes involving quite possibly the lamest Avengers villain in The Hood. Other than that, New Avengers has been a blast to read and I?m sure we will get a real gem with New Avengers Annual #2.Creative TeamWriter: Brain Michael BendisPencils: Carlo PagulayanInks: Jeff HuetArt Rating: 4 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 3 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 3.5 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Maria Hill in command of the Helicarrier. Comic Book Review: Mighty Avengers #8
2008-02-04 18:46:00
The Revolution continues to be summarily unimpressed with Bendis? Mighty Avengers. This title has been plagues by shipping issues as well as a generally slow moving story arc. Might Avengers #8 is going to be another waste of an issue since we have already gotten a complete and total re-cap of the battle between the Avengers and the Venom symbiotes back in New Avengers #36 that came out in November of 2007. Let?s go ahead and get this review over with.Creative TeamWriter: Brain Michael BendisPencils: Mark BagleyInks: Danny Miki, Allen Martinez & Victor OlazabaArt Rating: 6 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 2 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 4 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with Henry Pym giving Janet a new growth formula so when the situation calls for it the Wasp can turn into the attack of the 50 foot woman. We cut to the Mighty Avengers brawling with the Venom symbiotes. The symbiotes then take over Wasp, Black Widow and Spider-Woman. Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Wonde...

Comic Book Review: Green Lantern #27
2008-02-03 20:45:00
Green Lantern continues to be one of DC?s stronger performers. Johns is about as hot as the New England Patriots as it appears that he just can?t do anything wrong with this title. Green Lantern #27 continues this mini-story arc surrounding the new Alpha Lanterns. I?m confident that this should be another great read. Let?s go ahead and do this review.Creative TeamWriter: Geoff JohnsArtist: Mike McKoneInkers: Andy Lanning & Marlo AlquizaArt Rating: 7 Night Girls out of 10Story Rating: 9 Night Girls out of 10Overall Rating: 8 Night Girls out of 10Synopsis: We begin with John Stewart and Hal Jordan being alerted to a Sinestro Ring arriving on Earth. John and Hal suit up and fly to Arkham Asylum. There we see the Sinestro ring arriving in front of the Scarecrow and telling him that he has been selected because of his ability to instill great fear. But, before Scarecrow can grab the ring, Hal and John appear and snag the Sinestro ring first. Hal and John then learn that this was Amon...
