I blog, therefore I am.I read somewhere that there are about 70 million blogs out there in the blogosphere. What makes 70 million people to expose themselves to whomever is kind enough to watch, giving away their most inner thoughts, creative ideas, mundane gossip and sometimes relevant information about relevant topics? What makes people care about other people, who are not their family or close friends? Because all of us have a story to tell, and who's to argue which one is most interesting the the other? And let's face it, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters to oneself is himself/herself. It's not being egoistic, it's human nature. It's self preservation, if you will.I'm concerned with all these issues because all of a sudden i'm realizing that it's been almost three month since i'm here in Barcelona, and I've made more friends online than "real" people. In fact, I haven't even bother to make "real" friends. I've been out to see movies and concerts, but...

Barcelona is nice this time of the year
2008-01-21 22:19:00
I'm glad I picked Barcelona to spend my wintertime. Not only is it a beautiful and alive city, but the weather is so kind. Yesterday it was warm enough to be hanging out at the beach and let that mediterranean sun caress your face and forget about all your troubles. The amusement park in my neighborhood continues throughout this week too, and I have to pass through it every day as I go to the gym. It's quite a fight I have to put to resist the cotton candy temptation and I don't always win. Well, at least I go to the gym. I'm monitoring my body improvements every day with long hard stares in the mirror, and all in all I'm satisfied. It's a process and it's working in firm steps. Just like I am. I've been lazy lately. I barely went out of the house except for the gym. I don't know why, I really am an outgoing gal. I should catch some movie, I feel like having salted popcorn. I'm one of those suckers who adores popcorn when watching a film. The thing that scares me most is t...

Razzie awards nominees
2008-01-21 17:07:00
Razzie awards just announced their nominees for the worst movie, actors, directing and whatever. The list of the worst films is:BratzDaddy Day CampI Know Who Killed MeI Now Pronounce You Chuck & LarryNorbitI've only seen two of these. The first is I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, with Adam Sandler and JT's girlfriend, I believe her name is Jessica Biel. That alone says a lot about the movie. Yet, I've seen worse.Like, for example, I Know Who Killed Me, which is arguably the worst film of the decade. I don't wanna ruin it for you, but it involves a manic cannibalistic serial killer, who eats his victims alive! Lindsey Lohan, yes folks, she has the leading role, gets her arm and one foot eaten by this crazy bastard, and she gets to watch it too. (Otherwise, I might have wished that for her once or twice.) She goes around limping the whole movie, as she continually forgets to charge the robotic foot they gave her. Also, she has a twin sister who is buried alive in her wedd...

One placid hour with Tim Burton
2008-01-21 14:58:00
El Mundo continues with its brilliant idea of inviting artists to live chat with its readers. It's a win-win-win thing, for the newspaper, for the invitee and for the audience. They just had over mister Tim Burton , who is in Madrid promoting his latest flick, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a sombre musical, as we all know. I haven't seen the movie yet, but i'm planning to do it pronto, as soon as I find a non-spanish-doubled theater. Cos i don't wanna hear Johnny Depp doing the mariachi, do I?My love for Tim Burton's movies is well documented on this site, I dig most of them, I even have a fetish for some of them. The readers didn't ask him any juicy questions, but still, he got to talk a little bit about his directing career, his approach with celebrity life and his working with Johnny in six movies. I wish someone would have mention his new born baby with madame Bellatrix Lestrange, a death eater and a close follower of You Know Who. Which explains a lot abo...

Not even for Wentworth
2008-01-20 19:17:00
I made an outstanding effort to watch the last episode of Prison Break. The entire third series debuted inauspiciously, after a brilliantly enthralling first season and a captivating second one. I'm sure it has something to do with the infamous wga writers strike, and the fact that the producers just had to employ some retarded donkeys to continue the script where the writers left it. Yep, that's gotta be it. Because there is no way in hell someone can explain to me how this show became so lame in practically no time.  The actors are all saying their lines so apologetically, like they are ashamed they have to utter those words. I bet when they read the script to memorize it, they have to take a large quantity of prozac to be able to go through the ordeal. I feel for you Wentworth, I really do. And the fact that you are a magna cum laudae Princeton literature graduated it's not helping you at all right now, aint' it so? Look what you've got yourself into, mister. With all those ...
Frodo kept the ring
2008-01-19 19:00:00
Recently, Elijah Wood visited the headquarters of a spanish newspaper to chat live with the readers on the website. He's promoting his new movie, The Oxford Murders, who promises to be very entertaining. Everybody loves Frodo , hell I even had a cat by this name! He's cute, nice, educated, modest and very talented, and he kept away from the madness that touched most of the adolescents who turned overnight into famous movie stars. His role in Lord of the Ring s is so epic, that for the rest of the eternity he will be assimilated with Frodo Baggins from The Shire. That's why, dude, DON'T EVER WEAR A RING! You're giving us a heart attack! Honestly, I need therapy now.
Mick Jagger made my day
2008-01-18 19:24:00
This is the news from Times today:"Sir Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones are preparing to follow Sir Paul McCartney and Radiohead and abandon EMI, the crisis-stricken British record label. The likely defection of the world?s most commercially savvy rock band is a further blow to the credibility of EMI?s new owner, the venture capitalist Guy Hands, who is striving to cut costs amid an artists? revolt. Sir Mick met Mr Hands during the negotiations over a renewal of the band?s existing EMI contract, but the financier whose best man was William Hague, did not make enough of an impression to persuade him to commit to a new deal."The music industry, as we know it, is changing right under our noses. How many people buy CDs? Well, a lot more than three years ago, and to blame is, of course, the digital music outlets, like iTunes and Napster and of course, the illicit file sharing. Now, I love to buy a CD, to go to the store, take a look at all the offers, check the cover and the playlist on...

sugar and spice and all that's nice
2008-01-18 01:08:00
It's late and I have no sleep. That's quite abnormal for me, I usually sleep like there's no tomorrow. It's also quiet, I can only hear the wind blowing outside my window, but it's more like a warm breeze, very soothing and calm. I guess I could watch a movie, but I'm not sure what to pick between A Mighty Heart, Interview or Mr. Magnorium's Wonder Emporium. Speaking of which, there are some festivities in my district, which is San Antoni, celebrating this guy they named an entire district after. And they built quite an attraction park right here between the blocks of flats, with mini-roller coasters and other playing facilities I have no idea what to call in English, and, of course, lots of candy shops. I got myself a nice big pink cotton candy the other day, and tomorrow I'm planning to go for a caramel churro, which makes me salivate as we speak. I like Natalie Portman, she's my favorite actress. I believe that if she's picking to play in this movie, than by all mean...

Y'all, I got my own domain, it's, as per the poster above, www.marmeladesquest.com.Lately I've been fooling around with blogger.com and www.marmelade.vox.com, which is an excellent blogging platform, as it allows you to personalize it and add your own stuff. On the other hand, Vox has this great community concept, and allows you to keep in touch with people and friends. I'm gonna swing both ways for a long while, and I'll update the sites simultaneously.I still have a lot to work for it, but it's mine and I have all the time in the world.

The best day of the year ... so far
2008-01-15 00:11:00
This is the day I will always remember as the day I bought the ticket to Radiohead concert, for june 12th. A girl's gotta be farseeing, hasn't she? It will be my first Radiohead concert ever and I have so great expectations from them. You know, they did save my life many many times, when I was so depressed and life loathing. That would be my university years, I'm so glad I got though. Thanks to Radiohead. Honestly, when you're down you need to listen to music from people in the same state of mind as yours, that's the only way you can feel like someone is understanding you and going through the same shitty experiences as you are. I'm glad they cheered up with their last album, because so have I in the last couple of years. Don't ask me why, nothing dramatic really happened. Also, I went a little bit shopping with my sis, and I got myself a cool pair of laaarge jeans, so next season, a black blouse that resembles Luke Skywalker's outfit in episode 6 (you know, the one when h...

I'm on a Western binge
2008-01-12 23:53:00
I never thought I'd say this, but I suddenly developed a fascination for Western movies. It all started with 3:10 to Yuma, which is, arguably, the best flick of 2007. To my defense, I use to be a sci-fi as a kid and naturally, I hated everything that was set in the old times. But now, a girl just have to hear from time to time phrases like "where's my horse", "there are two kinds of men: the ones who hold a loaded gun and the ones who dig". I am truly fascinated by the recurrent themes that you find in all Western, like how far a man will fight for his honor, his family and his mates. In fact, this is always their dilemma, to chose from facing death or standing for their beliefs. Also, I've always had a thing for The Clint, I believe that in his prime, he was the best the human race reached. His eyes, his hair, his body, his courage and of course, his gun. I've also seen No Country for Old Men, which I recommend you to stay away from, it's the biggest disappointments of the ye...
All in all ...
2008-01-02 23:45:00
I had a good year. Pretty much everything I wanted to achieve, I have achieved. Most importantly, I had the strength to give up all that wasn't relevant in my life, and moved here in Barcelona to emerge myself in the very thing that feels like making sense for me. It took me quite a lot, but I'm happy I did it. The last week was a huge celebration for the whole year. 1. Xmass - I got drunk, 2. my b/day - not so drunk, one of my dearest friends surprised me with a visit all the way from tel aviv, so basically I had the most multicultural birthday ever (Israeli, Spanish, Russian, Romanian, French, Argentinian), 3. my sister's bf b/day (the bad guy), right after mine - got drunk, 4. new year's eve. This one was a slow one, 008 caught me in my bed, listening to good ol' Led Zep and writing on my novel. I noticed when the hour changed in the upper wright corner of my dear macbook. I tell you, it doesn't get better than this. People were laughing in the other room, but not me, I f...
That would be me!
2007-12-27 23:42:00
Once upon a time you dressed so fine You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall" You thought they were all kiddin' you You used to laugh about Everybody that was hangin' out Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging for your next meal. How does it feel How does it feel To be without a home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone? You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely But you know you only used to get juiced in it And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it You said you'd never compromise With the mystery tramp, but now you realize He's not selling any alibis As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes And ask him do you want to make a deal? How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone? You never turn...

I fake X spirit
2007-12-24 23:40:00
I thought I could avoid it, but apparently I can't pull it off without causing a major drama. My sister is preparing a X supper and she wants me to come. What's wrong with it, you may ask? Well, everything. I've been trying to pretend it's not bothering me, but her BF really freaks me out. He's one of the scariest, meanest, darkest people I have ever met. He talks bad about everything and everyone, you know, that kind of dude that tries to point out to their superiority by taking all the others down. He's a hater, racist, sexist, he keeps talking about how half of the population should be killed, because they are stupid and are waisting resources. He's completely ignorant, he thinks he's intelligent by narrowing down his culture to few "good creations", and he believes that every movie and every book that he didn't see or read is worthless pieces of shit. He's so ignorant, he doesn't even realize the enormous quantity of knowledge in this world that you'll never be able ...

War and peace
2007-12-18 23:36:00
Human behavior never ceases to amaze me. We usually show the best / worst when something threatens our dear way of living. Like, for example, the toilet broke. Again. So I made a truce with Sabrina, my roommate, and we are scheming against the boys. They are the biggest pare of wusses we have ever seen in our lives. One of them is jobless and watches TV all day, and the other one, although he claims he is a cameraman, works in a call center, and he calls in sick every other day, when he, of course, stays home and watches TV. Oh, and sometimes they play cards. At the beginning I thought they were amusing, but now I think they are plain retarded. They can't even call someone to fix the damn toilet, and the landlady gave them money to fix it. And they can't care less, cos they're going to France in a few days. So Sabrina and I are planning to confront them tonight, and to push them do something about it. I have no idea what argument I can use to make them take action. Maybe I can ca...

Yet another drama
2007-12-15 23:20:00
I have just seen Cassandra's Dream, another Woody Allen drama. I've been talking around a lot about Allen lately, so I figured I go see his latest flick. Thankfully, I haven't read imdb before seeing it, because you can find there, in the main page, how the movie starts, how it continues and, of course, how it ends. Good job imdb! Anyway, it's funny cause for me Allen is the comedy maker, but ever since he moved to Europe, he turned to tragedy. Well, I guess he finds a lot of inspiration. I don't want to ruin it for you, I'm just gonna say it's got an ominous Zola feeling, as opposed to Matchpoint, who was, as very clearly stated, inspired by Dostoievki's Crime and Punishment (in a reversed way, from the uppest class looking down the the lowest). Allen is obviously amused by the fickle ethics of humans, about how far would people go to achieve even the smallest caprice. At this point, I feel like asking a question to anyone who read this: what would you kill for? Your countr...
