Still no sign of a resolution in the Virgin Media / Sky dispute and looks like I’ll be facing another weekend without Lost and 24. What a nightmare… there’s no way I can wait 6 months for the DVD releases!  If it’s not resolved early next week, I’ll be leaving Richard Branson and his Virgin Media ‘revolution’ and heading over to Rupert Murdoch’s evil empire. Come on Virgin and Sky, think about the customers and sort this out…. it’s only £53 million pounds!!

Virgin Media and Sky ruin my Sunday night

Disaster this week as the row between Virgin Media and Sky over sky one etc, ended up in Sky pulling all their channels from Virgin Media on Thursday. All week I’ve been looking forward to tuning in to my two favourite Jacks in Lost and 24. Nice one Virgin  I’ve been with NTL/Virgin Media for 6 years and I think I’ll be pulling the plug and moving to Sky. Perversely, I had never really bothered with Sky One before until I got into 24 last year and Lost moved to Sky One from Channel 4. On the plus side, it appears that moving to Sky will save me £50 a month, but all the same I would have liked to have had the choice. The customer is the loser as usual!

No real surprise as Shilpa Shetty wins Celeb rity Big Brother 2007 with 63% of the vote. Upon Davina’s announcement of the winner to the two remaining housemates, Shilpa broke down in tears and was hugged by Jermaine who told her before leaving “kindness is your strength.” Shilpa left the house to mainly loud applause and cheers, although there were a few boos, which were fortunately quickly drowned out. When shown the clips of the alleged racism which has overshadowed the series, Shilpa was keen to stress that in her mind there had been no racist motive behind the arguments. She looked genuinely delighted at winning and lapped up the applause amin the spectacular fireworks at the end.

Shock night in 24

The fireworks weren’t restricted to Big Brother last night, as the 24 double bill ended with a couple of shocks. Firstly, Jack was forced to shoot Curtis after he tried to kill Assad in revenge for attrocities carried out to his squadron. This is of course the second member of CTU Jack has been forced to shoot, after having to kill Ryan Chapelle in series two. As if this wasn’t enough, while Jack is trying to come to terms with what he has done, he is suddenly illuminated in white light and looks up to see a mushroom cloud on the horizon as the terrorist’s first nuclear bomb goes off. More bad news for Jack, as it appears there are another 5 weapons out there… something tells me it’s going to be a long day!
