Are FitFlops For Real?
2008-05-13 23:27:00
I am not a flip flop kind of girl and love wearing my heels but the description made me so curious I had to try them. I have been wearing my FitFlops for almost a week straight. Honestly I do not want to take them off my feet. They are incredibly comfortable to wear for all sorts of activities - shopping, cleaning, and going to the zoo or soccer games with my kids. I have bad knees and a bad back and these have helped me so much!  If I leave the shoes on, I have no trouble at all, in fact now when I wear my high heels I can wear them longer because the Fit Flops have better trained my legs. . After a few days, they conform to your feet, so don’t worry if the top strap feels a bit snug…you will break these in quickly. I have no complaints with these sandals; in fact I’ve already bought my second pair! Check them out at ShoesOnaShoestring.com

In Honor Of The Pope In America :)
2008-04-17 19:03:00
Earlier Wednesday, President Bush, first lady Laura Bush and more than 13,500 spectators welcomed Pope Benedict XVI in an elaborate ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House.   As I thought about such an elaborate religious shindig, I wondered what shoes I would wear if I wear invited to said event. Would I stay with the status quo and wear a conservative low heel like the Sunday from Fortune Dynamic? It seems pretty white and holy for such an occassion as hob-knobbing with the Pope! The last thing I would want to do is give the poor old Pope a heart attack right?

Diablo Cody Gives The Finger to Million Dollar Heels? Huh??
2008-02-25 18:26:00
Before I begin, let me preface this blog by sayig that I love Diablo Cody. I love her style… I love that she was a former stripper who stayed true to her love of writing and has made it big. That being said, what in the world would make you turn down wearing MILLION DOLLAR pumps? Being the shoe whore that I am, I think I would die for the opportunity. Besides the fact that she is now going to be one of the most talked about writers on earth (I did predict her to win the Oscar… did I mention I love her?), wearing the shoes would have also given her more exposure! Granted, she does say in her myspace blog:  ”I must have somehow missed the part where my shoes cost a MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS and my “choice” of footwear would be publicized nationwide. I honestly thought they were just sparkly shoes. Mr. Weitzman did mention that the diamonds were real when I tried them on, but I’m not Nancy Rockman, Expert Gemologist. I didn’t, you know, bust o...

Jump Off A Bridge?
2008-02-04 16:44:00
I was reading Footwear News this morning and they had a report that said:  ”...37 percent of luxe shoppers reported that they would bungee jump off the Golden Gate Bridge for a lifetime supply of shoes by Manolo Blahnik.” Does that really suprise anyone? I’m suprised that number isn’t higher than 37%! I would seriously walk on hot coals to have a lifetime supply of Manolos. I might even fight a grown ass man to the death for the opportunity. Besides the fact that the shoes are like $800 apiece, the idea of having a pair of Manolos for every outfit makes my little heart flutter. Tell me, would you bungee of the Golden Gate Bridge for a lifetime supply of Manolos?

UGG® Australia ‘Amelie’ Linen Ankle Wrap Wedge
2008-01-30 20:06:00
I got a sneak peak at the final pictures of the new Spring 2008 Uggs and I must say that I love them! I have always been a fan of Uggs (especially the Classic Cardy… you know, the one with the buttons on the side). The new spring Uggs have the fleece footbed just like the boots, which make wearing these wedges so much less of a bother! The straps add a much needed funkiness to a normally boring brand. (To be honest, we all buy Uggs because they feel nice, not because they look good) Unlike YOU by Crocs, these new Uggs actually combine fashion fowardness with comfortability to forge a unqiue and lovely shoe!

Cloverfield
2008-01-25 16:09:00
Has anyone else out there seen this movie? I just got taken to see it recently and I had a question. I don’t want to ruin this for anyone, but were you suprised as to how long that girl was wearing her 3.5 inch heels running around in the city? I love my shoes and all, but I guarantee that those shoes would have been long gone during an attack on the city!

Predicting Fall 2008
2008-01-23 19:12:00
I’m so sorry that I have been absent over the past few days! I have been deathly sick (ok, not deathly… but too sick to get out of bed) and unable to gather the energy to write at all! I think I have bronchitis and some other madness going on, but I am getting over it as we speak! That said, it is that time of year when every fashion magazine and television show begins to predict what will be the newest and hottest trends for Fall 2008 . Men have their analysts who predict the Super Bowl and we have WSA and Footwear News. I have heard everything that you can hear about what will be popular. Year after year, we hear that bright colors are coming back. We hear grey is in again. We hear  so and so is the new black. What is really going on? I was having a conversation with my head buyer friend Saundra Thompson at Shoes On A Shoestring about this. I won’t follow the beaten path and comment on everything, but I will give you some insight into the conversation we had. ...
Do Men Matter?
2008-01-18 16:17:00
Like you, every morning I log onto my computer and read the top shoe blogs out there. I hit the Manolo, Shoewawa, FN, and WSA today. Ms. Shoewawa had an interesting entry this morning about men and what they think when they see women’s shoes. (Read it here) If you can’t bear to click off of Your Shoe Blog (which I don’t blame you), she summarized a study where women were placed behind a curtain and only showing their feet. They were told to wear the shoes that they felt best described their personality. Men, on cue, totally got everything wrong which begs the question; do men know anything? Not that there aren’t some smart men out there. But I’m talking about the average man who watches his football, goes out with the boys for a beer once a week, and scratches himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. What do they think when they see a pair of super fabulous Cavalli heels? Do they even notice or do they go straight to the sexiness of your lovely ca...

Highball - YOU by Crocs
2008-01-17 16:35:00
Everyone knows that Crocs are ugly. There is no argument that if you are looking for fashion, then finding a Croc would be comparable to fashion suicide. That said, the YOU by Crocs aren’t so bad as their bastard cousins. For everyone who doesn’t know, YOU by Crocs is the brand that Crocs created to claim their stake in the fashion market. So far, I really can’t say anything bad about it! (I know its a Croc… I know. Trust me, I don’t want to like it) The thing about this boot is that it is seriously comfortable! I always love a 3 inch wedge heel because I can walk around the office all day in it and not break my ankle. (I’ll be honest, I am not the best walking in big heels) Normally these boots run $300 retail but ShoesOnAShoestring.com has them on sale for $206.49. If you’re looking for a comfortable boot, you might give the Highball a try… just don’t tell you friends its a Croc.
American Idol Fashion
2008-01-16 18:13:00
So another season of American Idol has started and I must weigh in on some of the fashion. I didn’t catch the name of this particular contestant, so her fifteen minutes of fame will just have to be limited to the people who remember it.   Very basic outfit that doesn’t stand out. The white headband is gross and I think she would have been better off wearing her hair down. She probably was in line for ten hours or so waiting, so I’ll let it slide this time. The shoes remind me of a Steve Madden shoe called the Lalin. Its a very comfy and inexpensive wedge ($30.00 at ShoesOnAShoestring) that won’t destroy your foot with long wear. (You know, like waiting in line for ten hours or so….)

In Honor Of American Idol Starting Tonight
2008-01-15 18:12:00
All of my faithful readers might not know this, but I am as big a junkie for American Idol as I am for shoes! I hear you now… “How does one have time in their life to be obsessive about these two things?” Well the answer is quite simple actually. I love American Idol because I love music and love to sing. It amuses me to see people try really hard for a dream that I once had. On that end, maybe I am just living vicariously through the contestants. The other reason I love American Idol is the fashion. I like seeing what new things contestants will dream up for outfits and….. what shoes they wear! The shoe king on the show is Randy Jackson. His shoes are always super fabulous and I love every minute of it. Obviously Paula is the shoe queen as her collection of shoes would surely choke a horse. I am still waiting on a contestant or judge to unveil a pair of Christian Louboutins (Who will be on Oprah January 18th by the way) but that is probably just a dream.

Jobilyn by Nine West
2008-01-14 19:20:00
I am ready for summer to be here already. It is too cold to wear all the cute sandals that I have been eyeing, which makes me a sad fashionista. Even though I won’t be wearing them yet, the Jobilyn by Nine West is a very nice gladiator type sandal that seems to be making a come back. The texture of the shoe makes the sandal appear to have snake-like scales, but don’t let that scare you. The gold trim on this sandal is super sexy and makes me risk frostbite on my toes to wear them now!

New Roberto Cavalli Gold Flat Sandals
2008-01-11 22:32:00
Usually you can do no wrong with buying Roberto Cavalli but my mind still isn’t made up about this sandal. I love the feeling of real leather but I don’t know if can get around “Walk Like An Egyptian” playing in my head all day as I wear them. I think this would be something you have to try on and see if your complexion works with the gold. Some women will look very good, while others will look like an ugly extra from Cleopatra…. love you Elizabeth Taylor!

Wretched Shoe Of The Day: Manolo Blahnik Aziz
2008-01-09 16:37:00
Can you give me one good reason why I would be caught dead in this shoe? It looked a little hot until Chewbacca decided to put his nasty foot in it. I am all for having animal print in your wardrobe but having the actual animal? That seems a bit much. Blahnik wanted to progress from last summer’s tougher shoes which obviously meant to take the Rogaine to this poor shoe and watch the results. I know I am being harsh but seriously… who wants a $1,200 Chia pet heel?

Wretched Shoe Of The Day: Christian Louboutin Foil Rings Slide
2008-01-07 15:58:00
For my women out there with children, this analogy will make total sense to you. If you don’t have kids…. too bad so sad. My daughter is one of the most creative children I have ever met (Not that I go out meeting children all day, but you get the point). She can take pretty much any two objects, a pair of scissors, and some tape and make something very pretty…. like MacGuyver inside an 8 year old. Every so often though she will come up to me with her big beautiful brown eyes (that she inherited from her big beautiful mother) and ask me if I like her newest creation. Most times I don’t have to lie. Most times. That’s how I feel about this Christian Louboutin Foil Rings Slide . Christian Louboutin is not an 8 year old (Actually he’s 44) but by looking at this shoe, you would never know that. The color combination makes me feel like I am wearing a piece of watermelon bubblegum held together with 32 cent silly puddy. What’s worse is that I lov...
