I?m in Love with My Car
2007-02-11 17:55:01
“I’m in Love with My Car” is one of Roger Taylor’s most famous singles. So do you? Are you in love with your car? What is the model do you prefer? No doubt the car is inseparable part of our life now. It became something like a part of us, like a part of the body or family member. I know people which take care of cars more then of one’s health. A car isn’t just a car, it’s something you get attached to and it is real truth. Cars are meanness of the promises of technology and our dreams of better futures, cars became props in the world of fashion and society. As the number of cars increased, roadside buildings and signage were reinvented on a new scale and in a new style. They are designed to be viewed by the fast-moving driver rather than the pedestrian. So, which car do you prefer? European cars or Japanese cars? Manual or automatic transmission? Do you prefer a perfect and new car, or one that you can love regardless of it’s faults?...

We went to the North, stayed in Ciena, then in Piza with its falling tower and reached Florence. In Florence we were shown Dante street, churches and cathedrals, Baptistery with wonderful Heaven Gates with golden frescoes. In Senioria square (parliament) there are statues of David (by Mickelandgelo) and Geracles. Statue of Neptun is near Palacco Veccio. Ponte-Veccio bridge is very interesting and ancient. In Uffitsy gallery there are che-d-euvres by Botichelly, Perugino, Rafael, Leonardo da Vinci. Our last place was Venice. It was rather cold in March, cold wind was blowing when we were gliding in a gondola in the Venice canals along lonely and faded houses up. There was a smell of decay, the beautiful town of Venice was being corrupted by sea. In the centre there were wonderful palaces and squares. Palace of Dodges, Saint Mark cathedral the Bridge of Sighs. It is a unique style of beauty. The street of stores was very nice in the evening with lighted windows of coloured glass....

Excursion in Italy we began with famous Pompea. After sleepless night it was rather difficult to move in the thempo of our guide, but it was his aim to manage and show us the country from Naples to Venice almost in six days. So we always had mostly to run after him, but as a result we were very grateful to our guide. Pompea was so extremely thrilling, that you could forget about tiredness. Having read about this archeological miracle before it was unbeleavable to watch it in reality. This town was concervated after Vesuvium eruption because it was covered with ashes. So we could see ancient buildings with their inscriptions and frescoes and amphitheatre. We visited Sorrento and Naples, where Marketing gallery was very impressive, and king Umberto palace. (Only in Naples there was a king.) On the next day we went to Capry by a beautiful road and we could watch Vesuvium with its two peaks. A boat took us to Capry. In Capry we could taste and buy very good wines. The next it was Rome...

There are 33 regions in London . There is no municipality, the regions have their own administrations. In Whitehall there are ministries and buildings for Queen’s guards. Queen’s guards are very picturesque in their red clothes and big fur caps. Parliament House and Big Ben known all over the world are placed on the Themes’ river. They were built in the X1X century. Tower bridge near the famous Tower is decorated with small towers and chains. In the Tower we watched the queen’s jewelry and crown with lots of jewels. In the Tower yard there was earlier execution place, where noble persons and some king’s wives were executed, as well as the famous Maria Stewart. There live ravens in the Tower yard and it is said that while they live there, England will live, so they are taken much care of. We visited the old Hampton Court palace, where in the kitchens we saw big old kettles, the rooms look rather modest. Windsor Palace not far from London looked better, t...

Our excursion included also Oxford and Stratford upon Avon. Oxford is a very clean, nice and beautiful town with one- or tow-storey buildings, we were in University campus and felt the atmosphere, in which students of old times learned. After that we went to Shakespeare’s native town and visited his wife’s Anne Hathaway house. In the centre of the town there is a remarkable monument to the immortal writer with many personages of his plays. There are 3 theatres in Stratford and the town looks nicely. What about theatres there are very many theatres in London and they are always full. On one of the evenings we were taken to a restaurant-show “Beef-eaters”. There we tasted an ancient English soup and other good dishes and excellent wine and bread. There was a show of knight tournament. We were again in the Trafalgar Square and dropped for a short time in National Gallery. On the last day of our excursion we went to famous British Museum, where we met groups of ...

We arrived in London in the morning. Our bus took us to the hotel. The first impression of London was of a whole region of small houses made of red brick, all of them having chimneys on the roof. Our guide told us that it was an old region and now mostly immigrants live here. Our hotel “Imperial Hotel” was in the centre of the city, Russel Square. The hotel was not new, but placed comfortably and gave us good breakfasts. What I noticed, the personnel was rather strict and even didn’t permit to change places they gave us for breakfast. This feature was characteristic for English clerks further on. In the evening we visited Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Sqare with Nelson column (really very high), Green Park and looked at Buckingham Palace from outside. At that time the old queen, queen Elizabeth’s mother, still lived there. Westminster Abbey is a very long hall, containing graves of heroes and noble persons, well-known writers and scientists. There is a grave...

Joking apart
2007-01-30 23:44:01
It used to be when good joke or funny photo can put us in a good spirits for long day over. Unfortunately good joke is really rare thing now, when we see as this genre like proceeded on the conveyor, clutter up our daily mail newsletters. In this case one begins to set good joke more, estimating at its true worth, divining ulterior sense. With a good joke one must be as sharp as a needle. Frequently, the foundation of joke is in a pun. As a rule, one could hardly to translate the pun to another language. We call this phenomenon by untranslatable play words. What about funny photos that’s a horse of a different color. We are not looking there any special profundity and forget them promptly.

WELCOME TO SPAIN - Barcelona
2007-01-30 23:44:01
You arrive in Barcelona . The first impression - a provincial airport after a new one and modern airport of my country. But this first impression was not proved: it was a big modern city full of tourists and public in the streets. After a short rest in a nice hotel “Catalonia Castellnou”, where by the way we could have a good and cheap dinner, we went to a prominent tourist object, a park, planned by Antonio Gowdy. You cannot be in Barcelona without knowing this architect, who dedicated his life to planning lots of original buildings in this town. In the park there is a unique construction, where 100 of columns made of cement support a massive roof. It was planned to be a market but now it is just a tourist object. Even the benches in the park are very interesting, covered with colored tiles. The second outstanding che-d-oeuvre of Gowdy is unique “Quarry”, a building made of whole blocks of stone, it was made in 1912 as a house for a rich family and was cal...

WELCOME TO SPAIN! - Valencia, Madrid
2007-01-30 23:44:01
Not everybody of the group wanted to go to Hirona to the museum of Salvador Dali. But without beeing a fan of this artist, I was very glad to be there, to see his very special works and portraits of his wife Gala. In Hirona we went to Jewish quarter and heard a story of tragic extradition of Jews. In Valencia the most strong impression was of “Dragados”, a new quarter of buildings in the river-bed of the Touria river for exhibitions of science, art and architecture. The architecture of this place is unique. On the way from Valencia to Toledo I paid attention to wind-mill electric stations. The landscape was wonderful: mounts and lakes. Toledo is a town of stone in mostly grey colours with narrow streets. Toledo is famous for its ironmongery, especially knives and scissors. Madrid with its King’s Carl the third Palace and Prado museum with works of Velaskes, Goia, Diego Riveyros, Murilljo and many others. In the Spain square there is a monument to Servantes. ...

It?s getting more and more online stores in internet. How to choose the most reliable place for your shopping? It is not worth the trouble to find out desired product in internet online shop. Main thing here is not to be lazy because the success will depend only from you. If selected online shop sat in respected, long period of time working directory, with a high page range, it?s good omen. After all, it would be great to use internet forum or chat to consult with your online friends. Ask them which resource they could advise you to use. As a rule the prices in online stores are lower then in a real supermarket and this is paying business for the both parts. Besides, don?t forget to secure yourself to be on the safe side. Print out and attentively read offering terms and conditions of the buying. Pay attention on a small printed text as well. If you began to doubt it?s nothing, you have a wide choice of online stores. Cheap Holidays in Greece.
2007-01-30 23:44:01
I was searching a cheap tour to spend holidays with my family. When we decided to travel last autumn we were thinking about trip to Greece . We surfed many sites for learning about history of Greece and its famous places and architecture. We did profound research on the Web what travel agency gives more useful and cheap tour packets and found an old and reliable company ?On the Beach?. Suggestions from this travel agency were very interesting and full of information. You can travel to Greece with a group or by yourself, you can visit many antique places with a private auto or by excursion bus with experienced guides, you can just sit on the beach and take pleasure in the sun, clean sea, fresh air and in the absence of colleagues from work. We arrived to Athens, the capital of Greece, where the most interesting place is an ancient Acropolis Museum. We admired the Acropolis Museum, which contains one of the most valuable collections of Greek art.The prominent theatre of Dionysos is th...

Prague - part 3
2007-01-30 23:44:01
After Prague old town (grad), we repeated the route that I made in the day before and reached the square of the Town Hall. Two buildings are prominent there: Saint Maria cathedral - two high towers and two lower ones between them and the Town Hall itself with famous clock. The ancient clock shows not only hours and minutes but also the day, month and year. The clock is decorated with zodiac signs. On both sides of the clock there are two figures. One of them - death - starts to move at the noon pulling a rope, the windows above the clock open and figures of 12 Apostles flow one after another. This procedure is accompanied with striking of the clock. Not far from the Town Hall sqare the Jewish town is situated and we went to look for it. We found a synagogue named old-new, the entrance cost was 200 crowns. Next to synagogue there is Jewish Town Hall with a clock having reverse motion and with Jewish alphabet letters instead of numbers. The guide-book says that rabbi of the old-new ...

Prague - part 2
2007-01-30 23:44:01
We came to the president’s palace right at the time of guard change. People usually come to this show beforehand, they occupy comfortable places. The guard change is accompanied with music of a small orchestra. The musicians stand in windows. We entered Saint Vitt cathedral, big, beautiful and strict, with complicated stained -glass panels. The cathedral was founded in the 10-th century. It was reconstructed in the 14-th century. A huge sculpture of pure silver was very interesting, as the guide said, it contained 2 tons of this metal. We descended to vault, where Carl the fourth was buried as well as emperor Rudolf, if I am not mistaken. They said that the emperor had four wives. Every next one was younger, than the former. The last one was very strong, she could bend horse shoes and gave birth to 8 children. We passed Golden street, a narrow street, paved with small cobble-stones resembling a street in Riga. The street was given its name because in the Middle Ages alchemis...

Prague - part 1
2007-01-30 23:44:01
The first trip through Prague did not leave a complete impression. Large posters with huge letters “Posor” were striking. I asked our driver who was a shame (Posor means shame in Russian) and got the answer that the word meant attention. When you begin your way in a strange city you always feel a little uncomfortable. Still you don’t know what your relations with it will be. And the city as well is on the watch of the newcomers, it reveals its secrets and its logic not immediately. I felt especially discomfortable without a map. So I dropped in the first hotel in my way with a high-sounding title “Dante” and asked the reception clerk whether he could sell a map. He was very much surprized, found one and said he did not know its price, 50 or, may be 100 crowns? And took 100 without scrupples. I immediately felt better with a map. Very soon I understood that it was easy to orientate myself in Prague. I reached a huge pompous building of National museum. ...

No Idols!
2007-01-30 23:44:01
Who is American Idol ? David Beckham, Paula Abdul or maybe Madonna? I’m typing diligently, like a pearl-diver in Yahoo searching:”Who is American Idol”?. So, what do I see? “TV critics suddenly woke up, discovered “American Idol” judges are tough on lousy auditions in early episodes and demanded answers from “Idol” judges and Fox entertainment chief Peter Liguori at Winter TV Press Tour 2007.” or “American Idol” judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul say they’re no crueler than usual this year, and that people who audition bla-bla-bla”, “Wednesday’s ‘American Idol’ Draws 36.9 Million Viewers!”. Oh M.G., you must be sure that I’m not reckoned among this happy viewers. Probably, I’m outmoded, but I really don’t know what is this, by the way I’m not big admirer of “Madonna” or any others Dreamgirls at all. I’ve had more than e...
