The Flash Goes (The Speed of) Light

When I was five years old, I dressed up as the Flash for Halloween. Since then, the Scarlet Speed ster has held a special place in my heart, and I’ve eagerly awaited a FLASH feature. You can imagine my dismay when I discovered that David S. Goyer - the co-writer of BATMAN BEGINS and planned writer-director-producer of THE FLASH - had been dropped from the project. Warner Brothers replaced Goyer with Shawn Levy - the unexceptional capitan responsible for JUST MARRIED, CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, and NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. Warner Brothers obviously wanted to go in a lighter direction - one that may involve Professor Zoom imprisoning the Monarch of Motion in a zany museum. I’d rather Warner Brothers strapped Shawn Levy with a pair of roller skates and a rocket than let him turn THE FLASH into a light-hearted romp. I wouldn’t need The Sultan of Speed to be dark and brooding, but he should have some depth and character development - not just Ryan Reynolds running around in a red...

Great Apps: Spanning Sync Update II

Great news for a great app: The Span ning Sync Beta is officially open for public download. After jacking up their servers to accommodate the thousands of interested computer users, the dudes over at Spanning Sync are back in action as of yesterday. If you haven’t been keeping up, Spanning Sync syncs Apple iCal with Google Calendar. Both ways. I’ve been using it for the last 24 hours, and it is AWESOME. While they’ve been remarkably on top of fixing bugs, remember that Spanning Sync is a Beta - I haven’t had any problems yet, but you’ll probably want to follow their instructions regarding backing up both your gCal and iCal calendars. Download Spanning Sync at their blog, and make your dreams (if said dreams include a seamless gCal/iCal experience) a reality.
