Theory of the Nude in Fine Art
2007-02-23 05:58:01
Theo ry of the Nude in Fine Art My friends and family often ask me why so many artists paint (as they say) "naked people". Some think that the nude is only pornography, while others just think that it's out-dated in the art world. Most artists will tell you something along the lines of "we don't see them as 'naked' we just see beauty". Though this may be true, it doesn't answer our question. As a classically trained artist myself I have a theory on why people make art using the nude. I think the first step in understanding the nude in art is to understand why people made them in the past, and why they continue to make them. There are three basic categories of nudes, which are not necessarily mutually exclusive (sometimes they overlap): The Ideal Nude: Originating with the Greeks, the ideal nude is just a concept really, the basis of which was most clearly explained by Plato. He stated that within all things there is a universal and divine "form" that defines it. ...

What Women Really Want To See
2007-02-23 05:58:01
What Women Real ly Want To See Gone were the days when women cannot even assert their own choices. They are now more aggressive and very particular with their preferences. As such, men experience more difficulty in approaching women. Many times, they suffer from humiliation or utter rejection. Their common mistake is one that involves insincere disguises. Just to hit on their prospects, they even have to use pick-up lines or even act like women can't even dare resist their charms. But what they've probably forgotten is how women have become more sensitive and less vulnerable in today's dating game. If before, men hunt for them like preys, now, they get a fair share in disqualifying senseless predators from their personal love chase.Women today are not just attracted to good looks and high paying jobs. They enjoy the ease of having someone amuse them with their jokes or funny stories in life. Making them laugh is indeed an advantage in trying to win their hearts. In m...

Japanese Fight Clubs
2007-02-23 05:58:01
Defining The Female Role In Japan ese Fight Clubs Fight clubs in Japan are no mere rowdy affair, once seen and forgotten fights. Here the fighters bow and congratulate one another after the fight, thereby you can see as well as feel the sense of honor and audiences respond to this display of genuine sportsmanship. Could it be one of the reasons that Japanese fight clubs are always packed solid with female fans? Its widely known that Japan has a unique, real fight culture. Its not simply a roughneck, criminal adventure. Rather it's an honorable thing, about pride and respect, and the fans especially females plays a vital role. The hard won, clean cut image of the fight industry matters a great deal in Japan. Indeed its classified to be quite hip and classy as well, and its simply not just for males but for the females too. As a matter of fact Japanese women considered to be shy and quiet are the main force behind Japan's consumer economy, taking to fighting as entertainment in dro...

Jewelry Tips: Outside the Jewelry BoxJewelry has been an integral part of a woman's wardrobe for centuries. Although the first pieces of jewelry were probably created with bones and teeth for adornment, the ancient Egyptians incorporated precious stones thousands of years ago. Today, celebrities are often seen wearing a beautifully designed piece, created specifically for them. The glamorous fashion statements that modern celebrities make create an aura of intrigue around them. Spectacular pieces of jewelry enhance the image of a beautiful and refined woman. Every woman wants to look unique and be noticed. Keeping that in mind, look for jewelry pieces that not only appeal to your eye, but ones that can also create an extra bit of flash and dazzle. To look enchanting, one only has to think outside of the box, explore new possibilities, and break away from the routine of always wearing the same pieces in the same manner. If the purpose of jewelry is to make a woman look and feel m...

The Colors of Gemstones
2007-02-21 11:55:02
Jewelry allows people to extend a bit of their personality and inherent traits to a visible level. While what we wear does not say everything about us, it does, indeed, say something. The colors that we wear reveal intimate details about us and about our desires and needs. Throughout the centuries, people have come to believe that colored gemstones have magical powers that transform our energies when we wear them. A kaleidoscope of colors with myriad symbolisms gives vibrant expression to our inner psyches. While the vibrancy of the color may intensify its symbolism, it does not transform it totally. We can explore the meaning of colors in several ways - what they symbolize, the properties they have, the mood they reflect, and the energy they transmit. Red, the warmest color, has intensity unrivaled by any of the other colors. It symbolizes vitality and confidence. The vitality of red is often portrayed by a willingness to take action. The confidence red reflects is seen as...

Iron
2007-02-21 11:55:02
The Importance of Iron for Athletes and Active IndividualsIron is particularly important for active individuals, says Dr. Brian J. Sharkey in his book Fitness and Health. "Much of the iron absorbed in the blood goes into the production of hemoglobin, the compound in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the working muscles. Iron is also used in muscle myoglobin to transport and store oxygen, and in important oxidative (aerobic) enzymes. "Individuals who are deficient in iron risk anemia and poor endurance. Since only 10% to 20% of the iron in food is absorbed into the bloodstream, athletes must take in 10 times the amount needed," says Dr. Sharkey. "Lean meat is a rich source of iron, and the iron in meat is also more readily absorbed than that from other sources." Other animal sources rich in iron include liver, kidney, chicken, turkey, tripe, shellfish, and fish (tinned, fresh or frozen). Non-animal sources rich in iron include dried fruit, nuts, molasses, ...
The Benefits of Iodine
2007-02-21 11:55:02
The Bene fits of Iodine Initially discovered as a new element in 1811 by Barnard Courtois, knowledge of this substance has come to include the host of benefits it brings to the body as an essential nutrient. For many years, getting enough iodine in the diet naturally was difficult in many geographic regions and remains so for an unfortunately high percentage of the world's population in the developing nations. With the introduction of iodized salt, meeting the daily iodine requirement became nearly effortless and inexpensive in the industrialized nations. In these nations, iodine deficiency is now rare. As developing nations are able to make the shift to iodized salt, their rates of iodine deficiency and the diseases associated with it have also begun to decrease. One of the main ways that iodine affects the body and health is through its interactions with the thyroid gland. Approximately 80% of the iodine found in the body is located in the thyroid. With the help of iodine, t...

How Bad Is Your Breath?
2007-02-21 11:55:02
Halitosis: Causes and Treatment How Bad Is Your Brea th ? 14 Simple Tips ForReducing Mouth Odor. Bad breath, morning breath, breath odor or halitosis are all terms used to describe a noticeably unpleasant odor exhaled on the breath. Halitosis is not a problem by itself, but it can cause concerns in our interpersonal relationships. We are all familiar with how the consumption of certain foods such as garlic and onions can affect our breath. This occurs because these foods are absorbed into our bloodstream, where they are transferred to our lungs and exhaled. Fortunately, bad breath caused by the foods we eat is only temporary. The truth is, most breath odor comes from food particles trapped in our mouths. When food remains in the mouth, it becomes a breeding ground for the bacteria that can cause bad breath. Other causes can include poor oral health, improper cleaning of dentures, periodontal disease as well as smoking & tobacco products. Bad breath can also be a sign of...

Insomnia Help & Remedy Good Night ! Sleep Tight! Do you have trouble going to sleep at night? If so, you should certainly do something about it, as sound, restful sleep is as important to us as food, air and water. Sometime in your life you may have difficulty sleeping. Many people do. Anyone can suffer from insomnia, although sleeping problems are more common among women, the ill, the elderly, smokers, and alcoholics. Sleep problems are, however, surprisingly common among young people. The bad news is that there are probably millions of people all over the world who have this problem. The good news is that, if you are one of these, you can certainly do something about it. Measuring Years
2007-02-20 23:54:01
Measuring Year s The word for the longest measurement of time is kalpa, Hindi for 432 billion years. A year is the time it takes for the earth to revolve around the sun once. A calendar year is 365 days. A solar or tropical year is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds. This year is used for most astronomical calculations. A sidereal year is 365 days, 6 hours, and 9 minutes. It is sometimes used by astronomers, because it is the time it takes the earth to return to the same place in its orbit relative to fixed stars. Leap year occurs every 4 years, when all the extra hours, minutes, and seconds of the solar year are added up to make an extra day. B.C. means "before Christ"; A.D. means anno Domini, Latin for "year of our Lord." A cosmic year is the amount of time it takes the sun to revolve around the center of the Milky Way, about 225 million years. Ancient Calendars
2007-02-20 23:54:01
Ancient Cale ndars Source: National Institute of Standards and Technology Physics Laboratory Celestial bodies-the sun, moon, planets, and stars-have provided us a reference for measuring the passage of time throughout our existence. Ancient civilizations relied upon the apparent motion of these bodies through the sky to determine seasons, months, and years. We know little about the details of timekeeping in prehistoric eras, but wherever we turn up records and artifacts, we usually discover that in every culture, some people were preoccupied with measuring and recording the passage of time. Ice-age hunters in Europe over 20,000 years ago scratched lines and gouged holes in sticks and bones, possibly counting the days between phases of the moon. Five thousand years ago, Sumerians in the Tigris-Euphrates valley in today's Iraq had a calendar that divided the year into 30-day months, divided the day into 12 periods (each corresponding to 2 of our hours), and divided these p...
