David Byrne: Playing the Building Opening
2008-05-31 16:00:00 "Creative Time presents Playing the Building , a 9,000-square-foot, interactive, site-specific installation by renowned artist David Byrne. The artist transforms the interior of the landmark Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan into a massive sound sculpture that all visitors are invited to sit and 'play.' The project consists of a retrofitted antique organ, placed in the center of the building's cavernous second-floor gallery, that controls a series of devices attached to its structural features?metal beams, plumbing, electrical conduits, and heating and water pipes. These machines vibrate, strike, and blow across the building?s elements, triggering unique harmonics and producing finely tuned sounds." Wonderful Wednesday
2008-05-28 16:00:00 By now you all know my love for Blue Owl... Its nice to have a not so pretentious cocktail lounge downtown that you can grab a drink after work without too much fuss. And while I can no longer imbibe my love of gin at this weekly gathering, at least I can still enjoy a fine vodka cocktail in one of the finer downtown cocktail spots still free of midtown cheese. (not that there is anything wrong with midtown, my inner New Jersey love's me a stint at Johnny Utahs here and there.) 21+ Read More...Digg this | Email to a friend | Reddit More About: Open Bar , Wonderful , Wednesday

Disco Down
More articles from this author:2008-05-27 16:00:00 Happy Ending is always good for a little late night booze-fest and tonight is no exception. Dirty Disco mixes all the sounds the kids are diggin' these days... or in 1987... disco (duh), brit pop, indie, and new wave.
