What began as a faint popping noise in a nine-year-old boy's ear ended up as an earache, and the doctor's diagnosis was that a pair of spiders made a home in the ear."They were walking on my eardrums," Jesse Courtney of Oregon in the US said.One of the spiders was still alive after the doctor flushed the fourth-grader's left ear canal.His mother, Diane Courtney, said her son insisted he kept hearing a faint popping in his ear - "like Rice Krispies".When Dr David Irvine irrigated the ear, the first spider came out, dead.The other spider took a second dousing before it emerged, still alive. Both were about the size of a pencil eraser.Jesse was given the spiders - now both dead - as a souvenir. He has taken them to school and his mother has taken them to work.

Microsoft loss is Google's gain

Google has overtaken Microsoft for the second time in a week, this time claiming the bragging rights as the world's most visited website.According to US-based internet traffic monitor comScore Network, Google's combined network of sites - which includes the video-sharing site YouTube.com - had 528 million unique visitors in March, a rise of 5 per cent over the previous month.Microsoft stable of sites collectively attracted 527 million visitors during the same month, up 3.7 per cent.This marks the first time since comScore began tracking the rankings 16 months ago that Google has taken the top spot.The brand rankings, compiled by market research firm Millward Brown, had Google move up to the top spot from seventh position last year. At the end of the day, after she was unable to sell the second ticket, Allen paid for it herself.The next day, Allen returned to the store and found the ticket matched all five numbers - earning her a $200,000 jackpot.When Allen went to Raleigh to claim her prize, she met the customer who purchased the original ticket. Dell, like many computer makers, stopped offering XP on most home desktops and laptops soon after Vista launched at the end of January. By late March, the company said only two models aimed at home users could be configured with XP (the option still existed on many models for business users). But on Dell's IdeaStorm website, where visitors can post suggestions for the company and vote on the ones they think are important, a plea titled "Don't eliminate XP just yet" racked up more than 10,700 votes. The company said it will immediately offer XP again as an option for four models of its Inspiron notebooks and two models of its Dimension desktop PCs.
