Wednesday Night on ABC: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
2008-10-02 16:31:00 THE GOOD: DIRTY SEXY MONEY By arresting Letitia Darling for the murder of Nick’s father Dutchie, last night’s fantastic season opener of DIRTY SEXY MONEY managed to do what very few television shows have the ability to do anymore — surprise. No really. Amidst the hilarity that was Brian holding his baby mama and Brian Jr. captive in New York, the ridiculousness that was Jeremy Darling and the crazy one-two combo of Patrick Darling and his now permanently-ex-wife Ellen, this TV Addict was far too busy grinning from ear to ear to see Letitia’s arrest coming. Which was great news, because until those surprising final moments, this TV Addict was slightly concerned that the show had jettisoned last season’s murder mystery entirely in an effort to start the season anew. Now all that’s left is for someone to explain where on earth Juliet is? I mean is a throw-away line that she’s “studying abroad” really too much to ask? THE BAD: Amy Brenne... Random Musings: 90210
2008-10-02 02:02:00 As SMALLVILLE fans know all too well, the CW is never slow to jump on a product placement opportunity. Which is why this TV Addict has spent the better part of Wednesday scratching his head as to how the fledgling network completely missed the ball when it comes to 90210 and the loads of cash they could be making from the incredibly obvious cell phone tie in. Let’s face it, if Emmy’s were given out this early in the season for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, Kelly and Brenda’s cellphone carrier would most definitely have to be considered a top five candidate. Thanks to brilliance that is Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and/or AT&T’s cellphone network [See how easy that was? To paraphrase 30 ROCK’s Tina Fey, can theTVaddict.com have our money now!?], 90210 showrunners Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah have managed to keep fans, not to mention Kelly and Brenda connected to original cast members Brandon and Dylan without (a) having pay them or (b) having to beg, p... Good News, Bad News: FRINGE, 90210 & Green Arrow
2008-10-01 15:46:00 Good News : The CW is developing a new show revolving around a pre-Batman Dick Grayson [Robin]. Bad News : For fans, like this TV Addict, who had their fingers crossed for a Green Arrow spin-off. [Source] Good News : Thanks to last night’s introduction of “The Observer,” FRINGE’s cool-factor just shot up ten-fold. Bad News: So to did the X-FILES comparisons. Paging Cigarette Smoking Man line one! Good News: Kelly and Brenda continue to rock the zip that is 90210. Bad News: Annie, Dixon, Naomi, Ethan, Navid, Harry, Ryan and Debbie, you know, the new and ‘exciting’ characters we’re supposed to care about… not so much. More About: Fringe
Exclusive Interview: PUSHING DAISIES Star Swoosie Kurtz
2008-10-01 13:36:00 By: Amrie Cunningham PUSHING DAISIES is one of my top shows on television. The colors! The stories! The actors! Digby! Quite literally, everything about the enchanting world of Coeur d’Coeurs puts a smile on my face. Which is why it was such a thrill to preview tonight’s second season premiere with none other than Swoosie Kurtz [Aunt Lily] herself. Who was kind enough to take some time out of her busy schedule to talk about her love for Aunt Lily, why you all should be tuning in and of course, that tiny little bombshell that she dropped in last season’s finale [Pssstttt, she’s Chuck’s Mom!]. Last season PUSHING DAISIES was one of those shows that I set my life around – I had to get home and watch every week. Swoosie Kurtz: Oh how great. Oh thank you for that. I think it’s an amazing show! Can you talk about what originally drew you to Lily and how the character came to you? It was pilot season, and I was reading a lot of pilots, hours and half hours... Random Musings: TERMINATOR, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER & THE BIG BANG THEORY
2008-10-01 00:12:00 Just as God no doubt intended, this TV Addict spent his Rosh Hashanah afternoon off by enjoying a mini marathon of Monday night television. With, in the spirit of the holiday, a side of Apples and Honey. HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Even a song courtesy of Dr. Horrible himself, Neil Patrick Harris wasn’t enough to save last night’s far from stellar installment of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. Not only did Marshall’s quest for the perfect burger hit a little too close to home, with this TV Addict’s all-time favorite Burger joint located thousands of miles across the country [see: Splitz in Whistler, BC]. I couldn’t help but find Barney’s shameless love affair with his company’s new client, the fictional Goliath National Bank somewhat depressing considering the economic crisis millions of Americans currently finding themselves in. First Look: SUPERNATURAL Goes Back to the Future
2008-09-30 21:06:00 Because there is nothing theTVaddict.com enjoys more than a classic time-travel episode, this TV Addict is thrilled to offer up a first look at Thursday’s brand new installment of SUPERNATURAL appropriately titled, “In The Beginning.” Why “In The Beginning?” Because that’s exactly where everybody’s favorite new Angel Castiel [Misha Collins] transports Dean (Jensen Ackles) back to, the beginning. Where he’ll not only encounter his parents as a young couple in love, but also meet his mother’s family for the first time and more importantly learn the origin of a startling turn of events that will shape the future of the entire Winchester family – and possibly his relationship with Sam forever. A TV Addict Must Own: SPORTS NIGHT The Complete Series
2008-09-30 18:07:00 Ran From: 1998-2000 Starred: Josh Charles, Peter Krause, Felicity Huffman, Joshua Malina, Sabrina Lloyd and Robert Guillaume Why it’s a must own: Aaron Sorkin’s journey behind-the-scenes of an ESPN-style Sports Centre was not only the perfect guise to deal with polarizing issues like drug abuse, steroids and racism [both on the field and off], it featured an absolutely all-star cast and a will-the-or-won’t they between Casey and Dana [Peter Krause and Felicity Huffman] that still makes us smile. Pretty much, SPORTS NIGHT was what STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP should have been. Not to mention, the words “Quo Vadimus” still gives us chills. Click here to check it out on Amazon. My Take on TV: So Many Shows, So Little Time!
2008-09-30 13:51:00 By: Amrie Cunningham As I thought about what I wanted to write about for a column this week, I was overwhelmed with the hours upon hours of TV that I have to watch in the coming weeks. When totaled, I had 40 hours of TV a week, including new shows, old shows, shows that I never watched, and shows I made a promise to my sister that I was going to try.But when it comes right down to it, there are not enough hours in the day to watch all of the shows, so a few of them have already started to fall off the pile (some new, some old – these are the 5 most shocking to me, because I expected to be hooked on them this season). WORST WEEK I love Red Forman from THAT 70s SHOW and really wanted to follow him to this CBS comedy in the hope that he would be enough to enjoy this one. But I can’t do it. It’s been removed from my list, freeing up time for SAMANTHA WHO? Am I the only one that thought it was terrible? AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL I’m not the biggest fan of reality TV, but I a... 10 Questions with HEROES Star Masi Oka
2008-09-30 00:56:00 1. On Critical Backlash Masi Oka : Every critic is different and people look for different things. So I don’t know if the critics are bashing for the sake of bashing it, but maybe it’s just like a continued - well continuing (stealing the hat) from Season 2. So I’m hoping that, you know, as the episodes progress that they could just go back to what made HEROES great with Season 1 and where Season 3 is headed towards, and then go back to seeing it as, you know, pure entertainment for the whole family. Season 3 is definitely a lot more fast paced. You know, it’s basically the writers’ answers to what - the feedback we received from the fans. They wanted more - you know, there was fast storytelling, you know, a lot more action and a lot more of the original characters. 2. On Hiro and Daphne I’m very excited. We’re already shooting Episode 12 and there’s a lot of great shocks and, you know, twists and turns. With Hiro and Daphne, you know, ... More About: Heroes , Questions , Star

Spotlight on TERMINATOR Star Levin Rambin
2008-09-29 21:36:00 Even though Levin Rambin can currently be seen playing John Connor’s new squeeze Riley on the second season of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CHRONICLES, fans will most likely recognize her first as Lily Montgomery, the autistic daughter of Jackson Montgomery on ALL MY CHILDREN. On starting out in soaps: “After four years on ALL MY CHILDREN I knew I didn’t want to stay any longer. And getting this job was a really good way to get me out to Los Angeles.” The perils of Los Angeles: On paper, a beautiful and young actress like Levin Rambin may seem like the ideal candidate to fall into the “Young Hollywood” trap, but don’t tell her that. “I have to be in control of things at all time. I can’t even smoke pot. I’m not as badass as those kind of people and I definitely don’t see myself going down that path.” (more…) More About: Star , Spotlight , Terminator
GOSSIP GIRL Spoilers: Chuck & Dan
2008-09-29 18:49:00 Have Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage [GOSSIP GIRL showrunners] been spending a little too much time finding inspiration in some highly scandalous online fan fiction? That is the question this TV Addict is left pondering following his sneak peak of tonight’s continual adventures of our favorite Manhattanites. Yet rather than spoil the fun and risk the wrath of the CW publicity department [again!], this TV Addict thought it would be far more entertaining to leave you with these five tiny little nuggets of information pertaining to this evening’s installment. You Be the Critic: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS & DEXTE
2008-09-29 17:42:00 After spending all summer hearing about a twist so huge it would be like “throwing a pebble on a mountain, only to have it turn into an avalanche that can’t be stopped.” This TV Addict couldn’t help but feel slightly let down by last night’s supposedly shocking ending to DEXTER’s third season opener. I mean seriously, Dexter is a daddy? Isn’t that type of predictable plot contrivance usually reserved for DEXTER’s time-slot competitor DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? Which bring us to the ladies of Wisteria Lane. Who in a word, I LOVED! As expected. the five year flash forward was the exact ingredient DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES needed to completely reinvigorate the show. Not only do we now get to spend an hour a week filling in the blanks as to what happened to our fab five over the course of the past five years, we get an even funnier Gabby, a far less annoying Susan, a vindictive Edie, the seemingly never-ending one-upmanship of Bree vs. Katherine an... The Week in Rewind
2008-09-29 14:58:00 Most Unfortunate Show Title of the Week With FOX’s DO NOT DISTURB officially becoming the first causality of the fall season, this TV Addict must now ask the slightly obvious yet incredibly awkward question. Who picked the title? I mean far be it from a lowly television blogger to criticize the ‘Proverbial Powers that Be,’ but would it not have made a little more sense to go with a slightly more positive moniker? Something along the lines of CHECKIN’ IN! GOING UP! FILLED TO CAPACITY! THE UNTITLED JERRY [DON’T HATE ME BECAUSE I’M MARRIED TO REBECCA ROMIJN] O’CONNELL PROJECT. We’re just sayin’ DO NOT DISTURB practically dared the audience not to tune in. And unfortunately mission accomplished. Channel Surfing with C.T: SUPERNATURAL, ER, UGLY BETTY & More!
2008-09-26 13:18:00 Angels and demons and wisecracks, oh my! Yup, SUPERNATURAL is back with a vengeance. “Apocalypse?” asks Dean upon finding out what he and brother Sam are up against. “As in apocalypse apocalypse? The four horsemen, pestilence, five-dollar-a-gallon gas apocalypse?” Two episodes into the new season, they’re doing everything right. Dean was out of hell quicker than you can say “ouch, those chains must hurt!” and we now have Castiel, the creepy angel (sorry, but I just don’t trust the guy!) to add a whole new layer to the story being told. One of the things this show does incredibly well is reward regular viewers with episodes like last night’s, in which several secondary characters from the past came back to haunt our harried heroes. As Castiel hinted, there are “big things afoot”… and I can’t wait! Is there anything worse than seeing a show you love go down the tubes? Last season, I became disapointed in U... Exclusive Interview: SMALLVILLE Star Sam Witwer
2008-09-25 18:16:00 With roles in DEXTER, the new STAR WARS video game and SMALLVILLE, actor Sam Witwer has seemingly corned the market on evil. Well, playing evil that is. Which is exactly what this TV Addict started off asking him about when I was given the opportunity to chat with the actor about his newest role as Davis Bloome/Doomsday on SMALLVILLE. Let me start off by asking. What’s with all the dark characters? Sam Witwer: SMALLVILLE approached me and said we need an actor to be extraordinarily dark, yet really sweet and vulnerable. On DEXTER I played the devil, in THE MIST I’m probably the nicest guy in the movie, so I’m not sure what they saw. But it’s exciting to be on SMALLVILLE, it’s been really fun and I’m happy about it. Before we delve into SMALLVILLE I’d like to take a moment to discuss another killer “D” you’ve been associated with. KNIGHT RIDER Review: Worst New Show of the Season
2008-09-25 16:14:00 When NBC President Ben Silverman first announced the re-launch of the KNIGHT RIDER franchise, this TV Addict was more than prepared to cut him a little slack. I mean who can blame the neophyte Peacock President for wanting to generate a few splashy headlines, cash in on America’s seemingly never-ending love affair with 80’s nostalgia, not to mention, grab, what surely amounted to a huge pile of cash from Ford [Three cheers for vertical integration!]. That said, following the train-wreck, err… auto collision that was February’s two-hour movie [see review here], Ben Silverman is officially running on empty. Last night’s season premiere of the re-tooled KNIGHT RIDER series was quite literally unwatchable. And believe me, this TV Addict tried. Twice! After only managing to get through twenty minutes of the pre-air premiere courtesy of iTunes, I made the unfortunate mistake to take a second shot last night thinking the show couldn’t possibly as bad as... FRINGE & 90210 Make this TV Addict Go “Hmmm”
2008-09-24 18:01:00 On the surface, one wouldn’t think that J.J. Abrams mystery box known as FRINGE and the teen-centric melodrama that is 90210 would have a lot in common. But upon closer examination, it turns out that last night’s installment of both hit shows share one major characteristic — questions. Five of which theTVaddict.com is posing to you, our far smarter and better looking readers. 1) What illicits more of an “Ewww” factor — the brain surgery surrounding last night’s central mystery on FRINGE or the fact that Dixon Mills was all too happy to provide ‘protection’ for his sister Annie? 2) Which actor is getting more of the shaft in the writing department — the adorable Jasika Nicole [Agent Astrid Farnsworth], who four episodes in, still remains completely devoid of personality. Or 90210’s Cindy Walsh re-incarnate Debbie Wilson [Lori Loughlin]. Who has been given so little to do that this TV Addict had to look up her character’s fi... More About: Fringe , Make
Meet SUPERNATURAL’s Newest Angel Misha Collins
More articles from this author:2008-09-24 15:18:00 If there is any truth to the old adage that you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Consider Misha Collins ’ mission accomplished. As Castiel, an Angel sent down from above to aid Sam and Dean in their fight against evil, Misha Collins managed to the impossible. Sweep the fiercely protective Winchester Fangirls off their feet. Which is exactly what I congratulated him on when I had the opportunity to chat with the actor over the phone yesterday. I believe congratulations are in order. Your appearance on Thursday’s SUPERNATURAL season premiere left quite the impression on the fandom. Misha Collins: Really? I thought this was par for the course. Far from it. [Just ask Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohan] Well that’s very nice to hear. And I guess it makes it a little nicer knowing that fans aren’t in love with everyone who appears on the show.
