First Look: CSI Star Laurence Fishburne’s Extreme Makeover: Wardrobe Edit
2009-08-28 19:40:00
With ratings for CSI down last season, one of the big stories to come out of CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler’s press conference at the recent TCA Press Tour was that the team behind CSI had a plan to turn things around. That plan: Get William Peterson replacement Laurence Fishburne a wardrobe makeover, and stat! And here with your first look at said makeover, plus the return of CSI alum Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) is theTVaddict.com, with a publicity still from CSI’s 10th season premiere titled “Family Affair.”

Summer TV Surprises: A Look Back
2009-08-28 17:07:00
By: Vlada Gelman Summer is typically a quiet time for TV watchers, but thanks to the proliferation of cable shows and broadcast networks burning off episodes, this summer was not without entertainment and some surprises. Below are the moments, actors, shows and realizations that surprised me this summer. The supporting cast of NURSE JACKIE: Yes, Edie Falco is fabulous, but for me, it’s the people surrounding Jackie who make the series, especially Merritt Wever, Eve Best and Peter Facinelli. Each one adds something unique and unexpected to the show. Wever is absolutely hilarious. Best, who has the most amazing laugh, is the perfect juxtaposition to Jackie. Facinelli takes what could have been a jackass character and makes him a lovable doofus. I’m surprised and delighted that NURSE JACKIE has introduced me to Wever and Best. In a way, it feels like I’m also discovering Facinelli for the first time. I’ve seen and enjoyed him before in different movies and TV shows, but I’m p...

Each week the TV Blog coalition — of which theTVaddict.com is proud to be apart of — highlights some of the best TV news and views from around the web. This week, Jace had an exclusive interview with True Blood’s Anna Camp, in which they discuss Sarah Newlin, Camp’s original audition (for the role of Sookie, no less!), the love triangle between Sarah, Jason, and Steve, Sarah’s darker side, Camp’s theatre work (opposite Daniel Radcliffe in Equus), whether the Newlins are gone for good, Mad Men, and lots more.. (Televisionary) It may be summer vacation, but TiFaux was back in high school this week with three separate posts about the new DeGrassi: The Next Generation. For one, Marisa provided a “Where Are They Now?” for some of the more notable DeGrassi alumni. Good God Y’All: Sam and Dean Winchester are Packing Heat!
2009-08-27 23:48:00
What can we tell you about the second episode of SUPERNATURAL’s fifth season? Well, outside of the title “Good God Y’All,” and the fact that the episode features the return of the “hunter duo” Ellen and Jo Harvelle, not much. But all the same we thought fans might appreciate a few first look photos. After-all, Sam and Dean carrying some fairly substantial firearms can only mean one thing: Two episode in and season five is already shaping up quite nicely! Photo Credit: David Gray/The CW©2009

The TV Addict Podcast: We’re Back… For Realz!
2009-08-27 18:30:00
No really, after far too long a hiatus, a handful of technical difficulties and the realization that a podcast about nothing is well, better than no podcast at all comes the return (for realz, hence the title!) of the TV Addict Podcast . This week, hosts Daniel (The TV Addict) and co-host Ariel spend a solid forty-something minutes catching up, swapping summer stories, and trying not to laugh when Ari compares herself to Obama. As per usual, please don’t hesitate, and by ‘don’t hesitate,’ I of course mean… let us know what you think by leaving us a comment, reviewing us on iTunes and/or sending us an email at info@thetvaddict.com or ariel@thetvaddict.com. Morning Static: SOUTHLAND, V, DOLLHOUSE & More!
2009-08-27 15:51:00
Welcome to our morning round-up of big/interesting TV news that you may have missed over the past 24 hours because unlike us, there’s a fairly good chance that have a life outside of the small screen. Good News: NBC’s SOUTHLAND won’t get lost in the avalanche of Friday premieres which include the splashy re-launches of MEDIUM and DOLLHOUSE. Bad News: Instead, it will just get lost, with the Peacock network pushing the sophomore series premiere date back a month to Friday October 23. [Variety] Good News: A GILMORE GIRL grad will be joining ABC’s HANK on a recurring basis. Bad News: Said grad is not Alexis Bledel, rather it’s SAMANTHA WHO? survivor Melissa McCarthy, who has signed on to play sister-in-law to Kelsey Grammer’s Hank. [EW] Good News: Warner Bros Television swears that the two-week temporary shutdown of ABC’s much-buzzed about V, “was put in place so that the writers would have time to beef up future scripts and bring them in lin...

First Look: THE BIG BANG THEORY Returns From the Arctic
2009-08-27 04:31:00
One doesn’t need to have a Sheldon-sized intellect to piece together that the gang’s three month arctic expedition didn’t exactly go as planned over the summer. How else to explain some of these seriously spoileriffic photos from THE BIG BANG THEORY season premiere titled “The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation” that has one member of our fearsome foursome really happy to be home, and another fleeing to Mommy (Also known as special guest star Laurie Metcalf!) in disgrace? But hey, don’t take our word for it, judge for yourself by checking out the photos after the jump.

SCRUBS’ Neil Flynn Talks the Future of the Janitor
2009-08-26 21:15:00
After eight years of successfully avoiding any actual janitorial duties, SCRUBS’ ubiquitous Janitor is packing up his cleaning supplies. But thankfully for fans of his portrayer, actor Neil Flynn , he isn’t moving far. In fact, this fall (Wednesday September 30 at 8:30PM to be exact) Flynn is trading in his mop for a minivan, joining fictional TV wife Patricia Heaton on the new half-hour laugher THE MIDDLE, where he’ll play the thankless father to three kids. (Or as Flynn describes his TV brood, “heads of state compared to [SCRUBS co-stars] Zach Braff and Donald Faison!”) Same night (Wednesday), same network (ABC), just far less work. “With SCRUBS there were so many different setups, sometimes 40 or 60 different shots,” explained Flynn when asked to compare the difference between the two shows. “Cut away to this, cutaway to that, shooting SCRUBS took a lot of time!” Not that you’ll hear Flynn complaining. “My particul...

Inside the CW’s MELROSE PLACE Reboot
2009-08-26 17:11:00
By: Vlada Gelman This fall, the CW will reboot MELROSE PLACE with a whole new crop of fresh faces, but the series won’t be without some familiar faces too.  Laura Leighton’s Sydney is back to stir up trouble despite having died at the end of the original series’ fifth season.   “In episode three, we will take you back to that night and how it came about that she lived,” executive producer Todd Slavkin said at a recent Q&A for the new series.   “It was really important to have Sydney and Michael. They were the star-crossed lovers of that original series,” Slavkin said of Sydney’s resurrection. “When we went after them, we knew we had this albatross of she died in the original, but we felt like it was worth it. We convinced Laura that we have this great plan that she faked her death.”  And it looks like Sydney may have had some help.  “Something tells me she didn’t do it alone,” Slavkin teased.  The new MELROSE  will also welc...

Morning Static: Chuck Bass, Neil Patrick Harris & More!
2009-08-26 15:41:00
Welcome to our morning round-up of big/interesting TV news that you may have missed over the past 24 hours because unlike us, there’s a fairly good chance that have a life outside of the small screen. On the very same day Michael Ausiello breaks the news that has Chuck Bass going gay in GOSSIP GIRL’s sixth episode of the season, the CW released the above photo. Coincidence, we think not! [EW] From his Emmy-worthy performance on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, to his extra-curricular TV Land, Tony and upcoming Emmy hosting duties comes yesterday’s news that Neil Patrick Harris was tapped by AMERICAN IDOL to guest judge during the show’s recent audition stop in Dallas. Begging the question, is their anything the legendary NPH can’t do? I mean, aside from the whole getting married thing. [LATimes] Take that America, Paris Hilton can read! How else to explain this recent paparazzi shot snapped upon her arrival in Vancouver for an upcoming guest spot on SUPERNATURAL....

First Look: GOSSIP GIRL Joanna Garcia
2009-08-25 23:22:00
Say what you will about Joanna Garcia , but one thing’s for certain, she’s a survivor. Which is why, fresh off the untimely demise of last season’s delightful PRIVILEGED (moment of silence please), the talented and beautiful actress now finds herself with a pretty good consilation price — arm candy to the GOSSIP GIRL’s Nate Archibald. According to Michael Ausiello, Garcia will be sticking around for at least four episodes playing Bree Buckley, “an irreverent, slightly evil Miss America-type who hails from a conservative Southern family.” More photos of whom can be found after the jump. Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Vampires Ignored by Entertainment Weekly
2009-08-25 20:50:00
In their wildly-predictable August 7th cover story, Entertainment Weekly did a typically-lazy Top 20 list of the “Greatest Vampires Of All Time.” And as one might expect of a piece obviously slapped together in an attempt to boost sales by putting TRUE BLOOD’s Bill and Twilight’s Edward on the cover, the list… well, frankly, it sucked. Which is why CT put together his list of top five vamps who should have made the cut but didn’t.   Barnabas Collins, DARK SHADOWS How the magazine expected to have its list taken seriously when it left off one of the most legendary blood suckers in entertainment history is beyond us. Barnabas single fangededly turned an about-to-be-canceled soap and made it the talk of the nation.   Godric, TRUE BLOOD Because the mag never met a story it couldn’t miss the current peg to, they failed to even mention Allan Hyde’s majorly sexy vamp, who joins Bill and Eric in rounding out the show’s unholy trini...

Fall Preview 09: TRAUMA
2009-08-25 18:43:00
By: Melissa Girimonte, The Televixen You’ve seen the teasers. You’ve heard the hype. Now there’s only one thing you want to know: Which of the new fall shows are worth watching and which should be avoided at all costs? In this continuing series, we give you the scoop on some of the most highly-anticipated shows of the season. Which will be the next GREY’S ANATOMY… and which will be the new JOEY? Next up, NBC attempts to recapture its former ER glory with TRAUMA.  Why We’ll Watch:  Monday nights are perfect for mindless entertainment, so why not spend some time with the paramedics at San Francisco General as they respond to medical emergencies by land, air and water?  The characters while imperfect, are likeable (Particularly Rabbit (Cliff Curtis), the reckless yet vulnerable flight medic, and Nancy (Anastasia Griffith), an MD who chose to be a paramedic). Which luckily for NBC goes a long way in making up for the series’ been there, done that feeling. Seriously...

First Look: GREEK Row Strips Down!
2009-08-25 01:09:00
Introducing the 61st Annual CRU Undie Run. Or as this TV Addict likes to call it, a rating stunt we can really get behind. And yes, we’re is well aware that if this were any other network (cough*CW*cough), or any other series for that matter (cough*THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE*cough), we’d probably be screaming something to the effect of “most blatant sweeps stunt EVAR!” But since we’re talking GREEK here, a show that not only has earned the right to have a little fun after three season of consistent quality, but could use all the eyeballs it can get… Well, we’re just gonna go ahead and remind you that not to miss an annual college tradition on September 14th at 9PM on ABC Family. One that will have your favorite Greek Row Co-eds partaking in “The Half-Naked Gun.” More revealing photos of which can be found after the jump.

Your First Look at 90210’s [Really] New Beginning
2009-08-24 18:16:00
Apparently new 90210 showrunner Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair wasn’t kidding when she ">promised last spring that 90210’s second season would be ’significantly different’ from its first. In fact, upon closer inspection of the show’s upcoming season premiere (airing September 8 at 8PM on the CW and Global in Canada), appropriately titled “To New Beginnings”, this TV Addict can’t help but wonder if a more appropriate title might have been “To New Directions.” How else to explain the single less-than-glamorous shot of the show’s once-central-character Annie Mills among the sixteen (Count ‘em, 16!) publicity stills released to the media? Is it possible 90210’s creative team finally came to their senses and realized that the re-boot needs to focus on characters viewers actually care about (See: the Taylors — Jackie, Kelly and Silver). Or, is this simply a happy coincidence? Post away with your theory in the...
A Closer Look at THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE
2009-08-24 15:13:00
By: Vlada Gelman Last year, Mischa Barton passed on the part of bad girl Georgina Sparks on GOSSIP GIRL, but there’s still a chance that she may cross paths with Blair, Chuck and the rest of the gang. THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE executive producer Mike Kelley, who is “good friends” with GOSSIP producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, pitched his idea for a crossover between the two shows at a recent Q&A. It’s not hard to imagine a crossover between the two glitzy, New York-set shows, but the setting for Kelley’s idea is far from glamorous. “Our cast is on the subway, and their cast is on the subway, and the subway shuts down. We don’t necessarily have to cross them. We can tell two stories with them in the background of us and maybe have one or two characters cross through,” Kelley described. “Something like that, that would be an event moment. It would have to be really creative. They don’t need us.” Whether or not Barton will be on GOSS...

Review: POST GRAD
2009-08-23 15:41:00
By: the REEL Addict Inglorious Bastards! Why didn’t anyone — and by ‘anyone’ we of course are referring to the studio behind the new movie POST GRADS — bother telling us that this weekend we could have spent one hour and twenty-nine minutes in a darkened air-conditioned room with GILMORE GIRLS’ Alexis Bledel and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS’ Zach Gilford!? Luckily, this all-but-forgotten release didn’t sneak past our good friends over at theREELaddict.com, which is why we thought we’d share with you their take on Alexis Bledel’s Mission Impossible: The Search for a Post -GILMORE GIRLS Career. In the interest of full disclosure, you should know that because my affection for them runs so deep, when it comes to anything featuring Rory Gilmore and Matt Saracen (aka Alexis Bledel and Zack Gilford) it’s very hard for me to maintain any sort of critical objectivity. All the more so with POST-GRAD, since they are almost exactly appearing as ...

On the Fly with… TRUE BLOOD Star Sam Trammell

MEET: Actor Sam Trammell, who plays everybody’s favorite (and quite possibly only!) unlucky-in-love Bon Temps Bar Owner Sam Merlotte. HIS “I’VE ARRIVED” MOMENT: Having 4,500 fans line up for hours in the sweltering San Diego heat to get a glimpse of himself and fellow cast members at the recent TRUE BLOOD panel. “Last year we came [to Comic Con], nobody had seen the series yet and we were just kind of selling it. This year everybody had seen it and were just so excited. Which is exciting for us, not only to be on a show that lasts for more than one season, but to be on one that people are so passionate about — it is very exciting.” HIS BIGGEST FEAR: Reading scripts, no seriously. “You hope you survive to the next script because with a writer like Alan Ball, you never know. Anything can happen on the show [and usually does!]” HIS HOPES FOR SAM’S FUTURE: “Maybe some love, maybe a nice woman perhaps, Sam’s a decent guy...

Advertising Anarchy: The Beautiful Clark Kent
2009-08-21 17:59:00
As the saying goes, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Which is why, in our latest installment of Advertising Anarchy (Our take on how networks might wish to consider promoting some of our favorite new and returning shows this fall), this TV Addict puts aside our animosity toward the CW with regards to their penchant of selling sex to young women (see: campaigns for THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE and MELROSE PLACE) in an effort to give SMALLVILLE fans a break. After all, if anyone deserves a little love, it’s the ridiculously-loyal SMALLVILLE supporters who have spent the better part of nine years helping the CW (formerly the WB) rake in hundreds of millions of dollars sans splashy advertising campaign.

An UNEXPECTED Surprise: The CW Remembers its WB Roots
2009-08-21 15:36:00
By: Vlada Gelman Next season, The CW will introduce LIFE UNEXPECTED, a heartfelt midseason entry that may remind some viewers of the network’s predecessor, The WB.  The resemblance to the shows that defined the WB is not unjustified. Creator Liz Tigelaar’s college internship at DAWSON’S CREEK turned into a staff job, where she worked alongside Greg Berlanti. She later went on to write for Berlanti’s ABC drama BROTHERS & SISTERS. LIFE UNEXPECTED stars Britt Robertson as Lux, a teenage girl searching for her biological parents after being bounced around in the foster care system for fifteen years. The subject is close to Tigelaar’s heart, who was briefly in foster care as a baby before being adopted.   “One thing that came to light when I was meeting with the writers was just how much of this story was something that had been with me my whole life,” Tigelaar said during a Q&A on Wednesday. “This idea of, ‘Where are my young, cool pa...
