First Look Photos: DEXTER Season 4
2009-08-21 03:20:00 When America’s favorite serial killer returns this September 27, Dexter Morgan will have quite the juggling act on his hands. Will he be able to find the time for his extra curricular activities between diaper duty and playing house? Is this the year Deb finally connects the dots? And just how killer a role will John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer play? Not surprisingly, nobody’s talking. “I’m the only one on set who knows what’s going to happen in the next 12 episodes and it’s a fantastic feeling,” teased Lithgow at the recent San Diego Comic Convention. “I could actually speak two sentences right now that would make this entire building explode. It’s quite thrilling. My character has fantastic surprises. I act in order to surprise people and boy will I.” But until then, these first look photos of the new season will have to do. TV Talk From Fellow TV Addicts
2009-08-21 02:00:00 Each week the TV Blog coalition — of which theTVaddict.com is proud to be apart of — highlights some of the best TV news and views from around the web. It’s summer, it’s hot, and Vance’s brain can no longer think in more than 140 characters. He hasn’t blogged much lately, but he’s twittered the summer away. (Tapeworthy) This week, Jace had an exclusive interview with Bones showrunner/executive producer Hart Hanson about what to expect from Season Five of Bones, Booth’s mental state, Brennan’s Guatemalan trip, Angela’s celibacy vow, a possible return to London, Stephen Fry, and much more. (Televisionary) Design Star — it’s no Project Runway, but it’ll do during the summer doldrums. Also, Nathan and Dan are good enough eye candy to keep tuning in. Joss Whedon Previews DOLLHOUSE Season 2
2009-08-20 23:14:00 If the TV Addict Ran Entertainment Weekly “We just wanted something extraordinary.” Those are the words creator Joss Whedon used to sum up what the DOLLHOUSE team set out to do in the season’s thirteenth episode “Epitaph One which was just recently released exclusively on DVD and on iTunes. Now comes the tricky part: What exactly does one do for an encore after the series virtually everyone had written off gets a renewal so unexpected that Whedon called it “the biggest surprise of my career”… and you’ve already revealed how it’s all going to end. “Had I known episode thirteen wouldn’t be our last, would I have done something different?” he pondered during our recent chat with him. “Maybe. Because we really did tease out a lot. But I didn’t think we were necessarily done, I just thought the best thing we could do is just take a baseball bat, swing as hard as we can and leave nothing to for the ride back, because who kno... What’s On TV Tonight: August 20, 2009
2009-08-20 22:39:00 WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE (8PM ABC) First a cameo on Sunday’s ENTOURAGE, now MILLIONAIRE. When exactly did the NBA’s Steve Nash — who competes tonight for charity — become television’s go-to guest star? THE PACIFIER (8PM USA) Fun Fact: If you pause this ridiculous Disney movie precisely forty-one minutes and twenty-two seconds in, you can pinpoint the exact moment when Vin Diesel sold his soul to the Disney Corporation for a movie career. PROJECT RUNWAY (10PM Lifetime) After a protracted legal battle, the reality show finally kicks off its sixth season with 14 fresh clothiers and one big question: Will Lifetime, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn be able to make it — ‘it’ being a switch from New York to Los Angeles — work? Morning Static: Paula Abdul, MELROSE PLACE, FAMILY GUY & More!
2009-08-20 15:59:00 Welcome to our new morning round-up of big/interesting TV news that you may have missed over the past 24 hours because unlike us, there’s a fairly good chance that have a life outside of the small screen. Good News: Paula Abdul ’s manager David Sonenberg is not talking to AMERICAN IDOL. Bad News: A fact that he takes great pleasure in reminding anyone who will listen every other day. [LA Times] Good News: Seth MacFarlane continues to release tongue-in-cheek ‘For Your Consideration’ videos for his Emmy nominated series FAMILY GUY. Bad News: And much the show itself — where MacFarlane and Co. have a nasty habit of running gags, well, into the ground — these youtube clips stopped being funny two videos ago. [YouTube] Good News: The future is now! With CBS and Pepsi teaming up to save the print industry put a video ad inside the upcoming Fall TV Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly. Bad News: This incredibly cool sounding video ad will only be sent to subscriber... More About: Family , Family Guy , Morning , Place

What’s On TV Tonight: August 19, 2009
2009-08-20 00:17:00 LOTTERY CHANGED MY LIFE (8PM TLC) Well, not my life. Trust me, if it had you all would have surely heard about it. That and I’d be typing this from a really swanky hotel in Hollywood on a brand new macbook. TOP CHEF: LAS VEGAS (9PM BRAVO) What happens in Vegas… gets televised nationally when 17 fresh chefs infiltrate the gambling mecca to compete in culinary challenges in the Season 6 opener. The TV Addict Responds to the CW’s Salacious New Ad Campaign for THE BEAU
2009-08-19 21:02:00 What am I looking at? Well, since you asked (1) A network that has so little faith in the intelligence of their audience — not to mention the show itself — that they’re taking the easy out by selling sex as opposed to such silliness as a plot or even concept; (2) A network that cancelled PRIVILEGED, a warm, witty, heartfelt show I wouldn’t be ashamed to let my non-existent daughter watch and replaced it with a show headlined by an actress who is no one’s idea of a role model; (3) A network so worried about the possibility (read: likelihood) of said actress’ well-publicized “personal problems” resurfacing that she’s been all-but-eliminated from the latest pre-launch publicity push (more of which can be seen after the jump); and (4) A show that will no doubt be a big hit — within the desired demographic — for the network, proving yet again that this TV Addict is rapidly becoming both too old and too smart for some of the crap being foisted upon us by ... Countdown to Fall: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
2009-08-19 20:00:00 I took four seasons (and arguably a little help from time-slot lead-in THE BIG BANG THEORY) but audiences (and best of all, the Emmy nominating committee) finally discovered what this TV Addict has known for years now: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER = Awesome! What’s more, it’s about to get even awesomer (and yes, if Barney uses it, it is in fact a word!) “For a long time the mother was in this big vast ocean of New York City and we ended the season with Ted teaching at Columbia University,” teased executive producer Craig Thomas in a recent interview with EW’s Michael Ausiello. “Having Ted literally in the same room as the mother has added a great suspense element in the writing,” And speaking of suspense, what about the relationship fans have really been buzzing about all summer long, that of Robin and Barney, whose will-they-or-won’t-they status was left somewhat up the air after last spring’s finale. Well, judging from a third episode... More About: How I Met Your Mother , Mother , Countdown , Fall

Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Gayest Straight Characters
2009-08-13 22:28:00 Dr. Harold Abbott, EVERWOOD For heaven’s sake, the guy took showtunes on the ski trip trip he chaperoned, declaring there would be “neither hanky nor panky.” The Crane Brothers, FRASIER Frankly, Niles and Frasier were perfect for one another… if not for that whole pesky incest thing. Adam Newman, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS The first soap character to stick his… er… toe into the waters of bisexuality simply to avoid his nasty schemes being exposed! Dr. Zachary Smith, LOST IN SPACE Although the self-absorbed villain occasionally oogled scantily-clad spacegirls, one got the distinct impression the closest he came to the female anatomy was when calling the Robot a “bubble-headed booby!” Chuck Bass, GOSSIP GIRL I don’t care how rich a guy is — or, for that matter, how many women he sleeps with — a penchant for ascots will always start the rumor mill churning. EVERWOOD + MELROSE PLACE = Why We Love GREEK!
2009-08-13 18:23:00 Thomas Calabro (Left) and Tom Amandes (Right) There is a very good reason that this TV Addict is obsessed with the hit ABC Family series GREEK. Well actually, there are a few, but putting aside for a moment the unbelievably likable cast and stories that 90210 only wishes it could deliver comes the upcoming September 7th episode which features ZBZ’s Annual Daddy-Daughter Day weekend and the inevitable fireworks that ensue. Particularly when Jordan’s sports-nut-of-a-father (played by EVERWOOD’s Tom Amandes) is shall we say less than thrilled to meet his daughter’s not-so-sporty boyfriend Rusty, while Rebecca’s disgraced father Senator Ken Logan (MELROSE PLACE’s Thomas Calabro) makes a much-anticipated return to Greek row. Countdown to Fall: THE BIG BANG THEORY
2009-08-13 16:16:00 Think different is so 2005. Which is why our vote for the new season of THE BIG BANG THEORY is think bigger. Not only did CBS show big confidence in the little-series-that-could by renewing it for two seasons, expect big guest stars courtesy of THE DAILY SHOW’s Lewis Black (Who drops by the show’s second episode playing a Professor whose life is in shambles), and big romance when Leonard and Penny finally go where we have a feeling Sheldon has yet to go before (Teased executive producer Bill Prady to EW’s Michael Ausiello, “When they finally make it all the way, they have trouble finding their groove.”) Thankfully, one thing that won’t be getting bigger are the cast’s egos. With star Johnny Galecki remaining refreshingly humble when this TV Addict had the opportunity to interview him at CBS’s recent TCA party (”I can’t imagine the ego trip that you would have to accept to actually become accustom to 4500 screaming fans at C... Today’s TV Addict Top 5: Faulty Faculty
2009-08-12 23:43:00 The faculty of GLEE’s McKinley High: Between the pot-dealing gym teacher, the music teacher who has a tendency to sport a clarinet in his pocket at very inappropriate times, and the power-mad egomaniacal ‘Cheerios’ Coach Sue Sylvester, McKinley High’s faculty — while certainly admiral with regards to their level of dedication — loses serious points for being so for all the wrong reasons. Any Teacher on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: Seriously, they’re called ’special victims’ for a reason, and if Benson and Stabler come a knocking on your classroom door, it’s probably not to hand out a citation for ‘Teacher of the Year.’ THE SIMPSON’s Ms. Krabappel: And speaking of ‘Teacher of the Year,’ we’re fairly certain that smoking, boozing, and failing to graduate Bart Simpson after twenty plus years of teaching automatically disqualifies you for said honor. Win DOLLHOUSE Season One on Blu-ray
2009-08-12 17:51:00 This TV Addict is not gonna lie. Based entirely on the jaw-dropping awesomeness that was DOLLHOUSE’s unaired-and-only-available-on-DVD thirteenth episode “Epitaph One,” there was a tiny selfish part of me that wanted so desperately to keep this baby for myself. But with today’s news (courtesy of @moryan) that the must-see-it-to-believe-it-game-changer-of -an-episode is now available as a standalone download on iTunes, the need to hoard Joss Whedon’s Eliza Dushku vehicle for myself has almost all but dissipated. Even though we have a feeling Dushku and the rest of the ‘dolls’ in glorious 1080p ain’t too shabby. To enter to win, simply leave a family-friendly comment letting us know which ‘Active’ you would hire and why (FYI: While this question practically begs for a deluge of wickedly inappropriate comments, any and all comments deemed inappropriate will be automatically disqualified.) One winner will be chosen at random a... More About: Season , Dollhouse
Countdown to Fall: PRIVATE PRACTICE
2009-08-12 16:29:00 Getting to the question that has been on every fan’s mind since the moment last season’s credits rolled — Yes, Violet is alive. Picking up a mere twenty minutes after what turned out to be last Spring’s most buzzed about season finale, actress Amy Brennenman (Violet) promises that, “You’re going to see me again.” Yet the question remains, in what condition? Teased PRIVATE PRACTICE creator Shonda Rhimes on this TV Addict’s recent visit to the set, “Obviously Amy is here on set. But the interesting thing is how she lives and whether or not there will be a baby.” ‘Whether or not there will be a baby?’ WhatchutalkinboutShonda! Unfortunately Rhimes, a notorious spoilerphobe isn’t talking — and we should add — has the uncanny ability for saying a lot without saying, well absolutely anything. Thankfully, what she will confirm is that what happened to Violet, in addition to Addison’s choice to walk away from... More About: Practice , Private , Countdown , Fall , Private Practice

Separated at Birth: CAPRICA & THE PLAN DVD Box Art!
2009-08-12 00:52:00 Dear Universal Studios Home Entertainment, While we at theTVaddict.com continue to be grateful to you for allowing the likes of Ronald D. Moore and Jane Espenson to tell stories in the form of direct-to-DVD movies such as CAPRICA and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN — would it be too much to ask for you to hire a graphic designer who doesn’t phone it in? I mean seriously, we get that in these troubling economic times you’re probably looking to cut down on costs and more likely that not aren’t spending your work days swimming ‘Scrooge McDuck’ style in a vault full of money. Ask the Addict: Spoilers for GREEK, FRINGE, THE CLEVELAND SHOW & More!
2009-08-11 16:38:00 Question: For quite some time now you’ve been kind enough to provide your fellow TV Addicts with an incredibly useful calendar highlighting the month’s big TV events. Seriously, my cubicle at work is practically wallpapered with them and I really can’t thank you enough for your hard work. The only problem is that you totally dropped the ball when it came to August. Please explain yourself? — HookedonTVA The TV Addict: Truthfully, the TV Addict was on strike. And by that I mean, if the networks aren’t going to bother to program quality television in August, I certainly am not going to take time away from my FREAKS AND GEEKS marathon busy schedule to help promote the return of MILLIONAIRE on ABC. Plus, between Comic Con, my much-deserved vacation and the Television Critics Association Press Tour, I simply ran out of time. 2009-08-11 00:22:00 Dexter Morgan family man? On the Fly with… WEEDS Star Hunter Parrish
2009-08-10 22:47:00 The TV Addict and Hunter Parrish, Comic Con 2009 The Botwin clan could really use a break this season, will anything ever pan out for them? Hunter Parrish: You gotta stay with the dysfunction, it’s what keeps things interesting. Star ring in Spring Awakening last year was quite a departure for you, any plans to go back to Broadway? Oh yeah. Nothing’s official though, but we [presumably Parrish and his agent] are looking at the fall or spring. Are you surprised as to how much Silas has grown this season? He seems to be the only sane one in the family. It’s quite weird since I did not start out that way. But yeah, it’s exciting to be the moral centre. And before I let you go, I have to ask about Shane [Silas' younger brother] who seems to have grown about two feet over the hiatus. Does it freak you out how tall he’s gotten? [Laughs] You know, I’ve grown a couple of inches too! New episodes of WEEDS air Monday night at 10PM on Showtime. More About: Weeds
Fall Faces to Watch: THE MIDDLE Star Atticus Shaffer
2009-08-10 19:24:00 When your parents name you after a character in To a Kill a Mockingbird, odds are that a flair for the dramatic comes with the territory. Which is why it probably should come as no surprise that Atticus Shaffer, the pint-sized star of ABC’s new family comedy THE MIDDLE is this TV Addict’s first in what we hope will become a series of ‘Fall Faces to Watch .’ Just how talented is this kid? Not only is he the lone survivor of the original pilot — which featured chatfest host Ricki Lake in the Patricia Heaton role — but he manages to completely steal the new version from his on-screen parents, which is no small feat seeing as they’re played by Patricia Heaton (EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND) and Neil Flynn (SCRUBS). Said Eileen Heisler, THE MIDDLE creator/executive producer, “Atticus walked in the door and we were done, you know, we’ve got that one.” But don’t take our word for it, judge for yourself when THE MIDDLE premieres this September ... Reality Check with C.T.
2009-08-10 18:56:00 So what’s up around the dial where reality TV is concerned? Let’s take a look… I’m not proud about this, but I’ll admit that when watching THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA I fast forward through everything that doesn’t involve human train wrecks Kim and NeNe. Come to think of it, I’m not proud that I watch that show, period. Having trouble sleeping at night? Tune into BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK over on Showtime Two. I switched it on last night and about 10 minutes later kicked myself, asking, “Am I really sitting here watching Jesse scrub dishes and make a sandwich?” The thrice-weekly episodes are painful enough. I sure as heck don’t need to put myself through the live stuff. So far this season, Jordan is my favorite houseguest. I kinda love that she’s dumb as a brick. She and Jeff seem pretty compatible in that regard, wouldn’t you say? Russell has grown on me, but Chima… there’s just something about her that skeeves me out. At least the wil...
