You Be the Critic: GOSSIP GIRL, CHUCK, HEROES, LIFE, TERMINATOR, ONE TREE H
2008-09-30 13:48:00
Since this TV Addict was tied up observing a Jewish holiday last night [which my family and by family I of course mean Mother assures me is far more important than a silly old TV show, or seven], I have yet to catch any of last night’s television. Which is why I’m leaving this post open to all of you — my far smarter and better looking readers — to post away with last night’s good, bad and ugly from the world of television.

10 Questions with HEROES Star Masi Oka
2008-09-30 00:56:00
1. On Critical Backlash Masi Oka : Every critic is different and people look for different things. So I don’t know if the critics are bashing for the sake of bashing it, but maybe it’s just like a continued - well continuing (stealing the hat) from Season 2. So I’m hoping that, you know, as the episodes progress that they could just go back to what made HEROES great with Season 1 and where Season 3 is headed towards, and then go back to seeing it as, you know, pure entertainment for the whole family. Season 3 is definitely a lot more fast paced. You know, it’s basically the writers’ answers to what - the feedback we received from the fans. They wanted more - you know, there was fast storytelling, you know, a lot more action and a lot more of the original characters. 2. On Hiro and Daphne I’m very excited. We’re already shooting Episode 12 and there’s a lot of great shocks and, you know, twists and turns. With Hiro and Daphne, you know, ...

Spotlight on TERMINATOR Star Levin Rambin
2008-09-29 21:36:00
Even though Levin Rambin can currently be seen playing John Connor’s new squeeze Riley on the second season of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CHRONICLES, fans will most likely recognize her first as Lily Montgomery, the autistic daughter of Jackson Montgomery on ALL MY CHILDREN. On starting out in soaps: “After four years on ALL MY CHILDREN I knew I didn’t want to stay any longer. And getting this job was a really good way to get me out to Los Angeles.” The perils of Los Angeles: On paper, a beautiful and young actress like Levin Rambin may seem like the ideal candidate to fall into the “Young Hollywood” trap, but don’t tell her that. “I have to be in control of things at all time. I can’t even smoke pot. I’m not as badass as those kind of people and I definitely don’t see myself going down that path.” (more…)

GOSSIP GIRL Spoilers: Chuck & Dan
2008-09-29 18:49:00
Have Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage [GOSSIP GIRL showrunners] been spending a little too much time finding inspiration in some highly scandalous online fan fiction? That is the question this TV Addict is left pondering following his sneak peak of tonight’s continual adventures of our favorite Manhattanites. Yet rather than spoil the fun and risk the wrath of the CW publicity department [again!], this TV Addict thought it would be far more entertaining to leave you with these five tiny little nuggets of information pertaining to this evening’s installment. You Be the Critic: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS & DEXTE
2008-09-29 17:42:00
After spending all summer hearing about a twist so huge it would be like “throwing a pebble on a mountain, only to have it turn into an avalanche that can’t be stopped.” This TV Addict couldn’t help but feel slightly let down by last night’s supposedly shocking ending to DEXTER’s third season opener. I mean seriously, Dexter is a daddy? Isn’t that type of predictable plot contrivance usually reserved for DEXTER’s time-slot competitor DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? Which bring us to the ladies of Wisteria Lane. Who in a word, I LOVED! As expected. the five year flash forward was the exact ingredient DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES needed to completely reinvigorate the show. Not only do we now get to spend an hour a week filling in the blanks as to what happened to our fab five over the course of the past five years, we get an even funnier Gabby, a far less annoying Susan, a vindictive Edie, the seemingly never-ending one-upmanship of Bree vs. Katherine an...

The Week in Rewind
2008-09-29 14:58:00
Most Unfortunate Show Title of the Week With FOX’s DO NOT DISTURB officially becoming the first causality of the fall season, this TV Addict must now ask the slightly obvious yet incredibly awkward question. Who picked the title?  I mean far be it from a lowly television blogger to criticize the ‘Proverbial Powers that Be,’ but would it not have made a little more sense to go with a slightly more positive moniker? Something along the lines of CHECKIN’ IN! GOING UP! FILLED TO CAPACITY! THE UNTITLED JERRY [DON’T HATE ME BECAUSE I’M MARRIED TO REBECCA ROMIJN] O’CONNELL PROJECT. We’re just sayin’ DO NOT DISTURB practically dared the audience not to tune in. And unfortunately mission accomplished. Career Misfire of the Week After requesting to be released from his duties as President Laura Roslin’s right-hand man on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, actor Paul Campbell has unsuccessfully leveraged his upward momentum into a failed Bill Law...

Channel Surfing with C.T: SUPERNATURAL, ER, UGLY BETTY & More!
2008-09-26 13:18:00
Angels and demons and wisecracks, oh my! Yup, SUPERNATURAL is back with a vengeance. “Apocalypse?” asks Dean upon finding out what he and brother Sam are up against. “As in apocalypse apocalypse? The four horsemen, pestilence, five-dollar-a-gallon gas apocalypse?” Two episodes into the new season, they’re doing everything right. Dean was out of hell quicker than you can say “ouch, those chains must hurt!” and we now have Castiel, the creepy angel (sorry, but I just don’t trust the guy!) to add a whole new layer to the story being told. One of the things this show does incredibly well is reward regular viewers with episodes like last night’s, in which several secondary characters from the past came back to haunt our harried heroes. As Castiel hinted, there are “big things afoot”… and I can’t wait! Is there anything worse than seeing a show you love go down the tubes? Last season, I became disapointed in U...

DEXTER Casting Scoop
2008-09-25 19:28:00
The TV Addict has just learned that Canadian actress Jane McLean [THE DRESDEN FILES] will be joining the cast of DEXTER in a recurring role this season. Not surprisingly, sources are tight-lipped on what exactly that role will be. But seriously, when has that ever stopped the readers of theTVaddict.com from rampant and irresponsible speculation. A lover for Deb? A victim for Dexter ? Post away with your theories.

Exclusive Interview: SMALLVILLE Star Sam Witwer
2008-09-25 18:16:00
With roles in DEXTER, the new STAR WARS video game and SMALLVILLE, actor Sam Witwer has seemingly corned the market on evil. Well, playing evil that is. Which is exactly what this TV Addict started off asking him about when I was given the opportunity to chat with the actor about his newest role as Davis Bloome/Doomsday on SMALLVILLE. Let me start off by asking. What’s with all the dark characters? Sam Witwer: SMALLVILLE approached me and said we need an actor to be extraordinarily dark, yet really sweet and vulnerable. On DEXTER I played the devil, in THE MIST I’m probably the nicest guy in the movie, so I’m not sure what they saw. But it’s exciting to be on SMALLVILLE, it’s been really fun and I’m happy about it. Before we delve into SMALLVILLE I’d like to take a moment to discuss another killer “D” you’ve been associated with. I had no idea until I started doing research for this interview [and by research, this TV Addic...

KNIGHT RIDER Review: Worst New Show of the Season
2008-09-25 16:14:00
When NBC President Ben Silverman first announced the re-launch of the KNIGHT RIDER franchise, this TV Addict was more than prepared to cut him a little slack. I mean who can blame the neophyte Peacock President for wanting to generate a few splashy headlines, cash in on America’s seemingly never-ending love affair with 80’s nostalgia, not to mention, grab, what surely amounted to a huge pile of cash from Ford [Three cheers for vertical integration!]. That said, following the train-wreck, err… auto collision that was February’s two-hour movie [see review here], Ben Silverman is officially running on empty. Last night’s season premiere of the re-tooled KNIGHT RIDER series was quite literally unwatchable. And believe me, this TV Addict tried. Twice! After only managing to get through twenty minutes of the pre-air premiere courtesy of iTunes, I made the unfortunate mistake to take a second shot last night thinking the show couldn’t possibly as bad as...

FRINGE & 90210 Make this TV Addict Go “Hmmm”
2008-09-24 18:01:00
On the surface, one wouldn’t think that J.J. Abrams mystery box known as FRINGE and the teen-centric melodrama that is 90210 would have a lot in common. But upon closer examination, it turns out that last night’s installment of both hit shows share one major characteristic — questions. Five of which theTVaddict.com is posing to you, our far smarter and better looking readers. 1) What illicits more of an “Ewww” factor — the brain surgery surrounding last night’s central mystery on FRINGE or the fact that Dixon Mills was all too happy to provide ‘protection’ for his sister Annie? 2) Which actor is getting more of the shaft in the writing department — the adorable Jasika Nicole [Agent Astrid Farnsworth], who four episodes in, still remains completely devoid of personality. Or 90210’s Cindy Walsh re-incarnate Debbie Wilson [Lori Loughlin]. Who has been given so little to do that this TV Addict had to look up her character’s fi...

Meet SUPERNATURAL’s Newest Angel Misha Collins
2008-09-24 15:18:00
If there is any truth to the old adage that you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Consider Misha Collins ’ mission accomplished.  As Castiel, an Angel sent down from above to aid Sam and Dean in their fight against evil, Misha Collins managed to the impossible. Sweep the fiercely protective Winchester Fangirls off their feet. Which is exactly what I congratulated him on when I had the opportunity to chat with the actor over the phone yesterday.  I believe congratulations are in order. Your appearance on Thursday’s SUPERNATURAL season premiere left quite the impression on the fandom. Misha Collins: Really? I thought this was par for the course. Far from it. [Just ask Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohan] Well that’s very nice to hear. And I guess it makes it a little nicer knowing that fans aren’t in love with everyone who appears on the show. Have you taken the time to Google yourself and see for what the fan reaction has been like? Friends have...

Spotlight on HEROES Star Zachary Quinto
2008-09-22 23:52:00
In anticipation of tonight’s third season premiere of HEROES [see preview], theTVaddict.com thought we’d spend a few moments shining a spotlight on actor Zachary Quinto , who has risen to fame playing America’s favorite super-villain Sylar. On the new season: In a far more diplomatic manner than this TV Addict might have put it, Zachary Quinto promises that the new Chapter of HEROES, titled “Villains” will be far more entertaining that last season’s suck fest underwhelming “Generations” installment, “I think that the scripts this season are just, you know, more exciting and more action-packed, and more dynamic than ever. I think it just keeps getting better and more - you know, every time I open a script it’s truly a thrill.” On what’s in store for Sylar: There’s a lot of unexpected turns this year for my character and every time I open a script there’s just a different kind of challenge. Whether it’s a either ...

A Sneak Peek at HEROES Season Three
2008-09-22 13:10:00
By Melissa Girimonte There was much excitement outside the Varsity Theater in Toronto as eager HEROES fans waited for a sneak peek at Season Three, courtesy of Global Television. I arrived at the theater and was met by picketers: men dressed in black, with dark sunglasses, holding signs that said “Darkness is coming”, and chanting phrases like “Make a choice, good or evil”, and “Level 5 is where evil resides”. Once everyone was seated in the theater, and a large group photo of everyone in Sylar masks was taken, we were treated to the first hour of the Season Three Premiere. A few days later, I am still trying to decide if I was impressed or not. I have always found it’s really tough to judge a season of HEROES based on its season premiere alone. I admit, in the first season, I wasn’t immediately hooked, but I was glad that I continued to watch, as it built into a fantastic tale. Season One was a tough act to follow, and Season Two fell short, mainly because of it...
