News Update for Final Approach, the Hallmark Channel 3-Hour Movie
2007-07-13 21:31:00
Today was the TCA (Television Critics Association) Press Tour, and Hallmark has announced a line up of an incredible 30 original movies for 2008 (read the Hollywood Reporter's coverage here for more information). While reading about the upcoming events, I came across several write ups on Dean Cain's action "miniseries," Final Approach. Last I read, it was to premiere on the Hallmark Channel in April of 2008, but today I've found several mentions that it is showing this November! I'm still looking for an official press release or definitive authority to verify it, but until I can find it, here are a couple of the references I came across. (I'll keep you posted as I hear anything.)Other upcoming programs spotlighted Thursday by Hallmark include the miniseries "Final Approach" (November) and the movies "Claire" (9 p.m. Aug. 11), "A Grandpa for Christmas" (9 p.m. Dec. 1) and "Murder 101: If Wishes Were Horses" (9 p.m. Aug. 18).Dean Cain Heads All Star Cast Of "Final Approach" - Dean...

Movie Review - Dean Cain Proves He Doesn't Need a Cape to Fly as an Actor
2007-04-24 04:06:00
My personal movie tastes are varied, and my satisfaction is not necessarily dependent on typical "good movie" standards. I'm forgiving of what some may call flaws, errors, substandards, story holes, weak plots, campy acting or predictability. My main criteria is basic: does the movie engross me, hold my attention, stay with me and most importantly, entertain me? If I answer yes, then it's a good movie. It's simple. Now to my main point. Dean Cain 's performance in the recent Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Crossroads: A Story of Forgiveness, engrossed me. I was absorbed. There is something about the sadness he so richly portrayed that is staying with me. I didn't want to take my eyes off of the scenes that he appeared in. For two hours, I sat entertained. I think Mr. Cain was terrific, and a great fit for this role. I can't imagine anyone else playing the part. Was the movie itself good? I enjoyed it. Was it well directed? I stayed involved and forgot I was watching TV for a coupl...

Movie Review - Dean Cain Proves He Doesn't Need a Cape to Fly as an Actor

Being a writer, it was only natural to merge my love of movies with my work and write movie reviews. That actually began my freelance career many years ago. And I have watched thousands of movies. I am known to view favorites dozens of times or more. I can't even count how many times I've seen Princess Bride, or Cary Grant and Irene Dunne's My Favorite Wife...but I digress. Movie Review by Jim Heinrich, Apr. 18, 2007: A strong Hallmark Hall of Fame
2007-04-18 19:59:00
[Editorial Note: This is a good review of the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie starring Dean Cain, airing on CBS this Sunday, April 22nd]"The off-putting title of Sunday's Hallmark Hall of Fame _ "Crossroads: A Story of Forgiveness" _ suggests a moralizing parable or worse. Yet the straightforward narrative, airing at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS and closely based on a true story, speaks for itself and forces us to contemplate how we would react in a similar situation.Dean Cain ("Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman") plays Bruce Murakami, a Tampa, Fla., contractor whose close-knit family includes a wife, two teenage sons and a young daughter. Early on, wife Cindy and daughter Chelsea head for the mall, and little Chelsea shares the "family rule": When you leave the house, you get a kiss." Read the full review here.

Very Funny Movie Review of Dean Cain's Creature Feature, Boa aka New Alcatr
2007-04-18 03:48:00
I just read a review that made me laugh all the way through it. It was an entertaining and fun read, especially since I could relate to the sentiment of loving the "creature feature" genre, the gas station video rentals...and thinking Dean Cain is under-rated as an actor. The review, written by Zach Whalen, can be found at MaximumAwesome.com - Greatest Killer Animal Movie s: Boa. It is punctuated with some funny captions on photos of Dean Cain, the "Underdog action hero--no, action LEGEND!" (Yep, I agree with that, too.)By the way, did you know that Dean Cain is Bulgarian for "smoldering intensity"? Yep, sure is! At least, according to Zach Whalen it is.

Filmed last year, this big screen action epic film by acclaimed producer, director and screenwriter Christ opher Cain (YOUNG GUNS, THE PRINCIPAL) is coming to theaters May 4, 2007. September Dawn boasts impressive talent in the form of actors Terence Stamp, Jon Voight and Dean Cain, co-starring Lolita Davidovich and Jon Gries.September Dawn is a fictional love story set against the backdrop of the somewhat controversial Mountain Meadows Massacre that occured September 7-11, 1857. "The film brings up some very significant questions," said Dean Cain.Though the film's story is fiction, the historic story behind it is based on fact. "I was a history major in college and I read a lot about it," said Dean. "I do know that everything said by Brigham Young in the film is taken from historical records."PLOT DESCRIPTION: Director Christopher Cain takes an up-close look at the devastation wrought by religious fanaticism with this romantic drama set against the backdrop of the 1857 Mountain Mea...

Funny, Funky Zombie Movie - Dead & Deader - On DVD April 10th
2007-04-06 17:42:00
Fangoria called it, "A Zom-edy, sort of 48 HRS. meets DAWN OF THE DEAD"Dean Cain stars in this particular zomedy as Special Forces Lt. Bobby Quinn, who was "killed" during a jungle recon mission. As the story goes, Quinn interrupts his own autopsy, realizes his dead squad are "living" dead with cannibalistic tendencies. Released by Anchor Bay Entertainment, this fun flick of half-dead, fully dead, and mutated semi-life forms harkens back to earlier tongue-in-cheek horror films. And it seems apparent (to this movie lover) that Dean Cain and cast really had fun camping it up.Our hero, along with the help of a wisecracking sidekick played by Guy Torry (American History X) and sassy Susan Ward (Wild Things 2), sets out to stop the plague before it can spread beyond control. The fun isn't in watching the plot unfold, but more in enjoying the humor, sarcasm, attitude and seeing who ends up chomping on whom.
